Whenever one of the pugs does something funny or noteworthy, I jot down a little blurb in my blog idea book. Later, when I'm looking for something to blog about, I have a whole book of ideas. I have notes in my book that I never got a chance to blog about before Sol passed. I thought I would share one of those stories today.

When it came to food, Solsey had a pretty strict set of rules that she followed. One of those rules was never, ever eat any fruit.

We quickly became aware of Sol's "Eat No Fruit" rule when she turned down tiny bits of bananas or apples on a regular basis. But we didn't realize how serious Sol's distaste for fruit was until she got picky about her Cheerios.

Each morning plays out about the same around here. We start the day with a bowl of Cheerios and a banana. However, we are a two Cheerio flavor household. One of us eats Apple Cinnamon Cheerios and the other Honey Nut Cheerios.

We offer the pugs a tiny bite of banana each morning and of course Sol always turned hers down. So, we started offering Sol a Cheerio instead. If it was an Apple Cinnamon Cheerio, Sol would turn that down as well. If it was a Honey Nut Cheerio, she would woof it down and ask for another.

Mix a handful of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios with a handful of Honey Nut Cheerios, put the mix in a bowl and give it to Sol and when she was done eating you would have a bowl full of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios left.

Whenever Luna catches a certain smell she feels compelled to flip herself on her back and roll around on it. When she is done, she flips herself back up and trots along like nothing every happened. The other day, I was able to get some shots of her flailing around in the grass.

First, she spots the scent and paws at it a bit.

Then she flips herself over and begins to wiggle around.

As soon as we got to the car after picking Benny up from his brachycephalic surgery I knew he was going to be OK. In our excitement to go pick Benny up, we forgot to remove a small container of kibble that we brought with us to his pre-surgery visit the day before.

His pre-surgery appointment required fasting and we weren't expecting to leave him so we brought a small meal to give him after his visit. But, Benny ended up staying for his surgery so there was no need for the meal we brought with us.

When we picked Benny up to bring him home the next day, he sat on my lap on the passenger seat. After about a minute or two, he went to the back seat and immediately found the bag of kibble that we had previously brought.

He smelled and stared at the bag for a bit and then he started whining and barking at the bag. Except, his bark wasn't quite back so soon after his surgery. I have only a tiny clip of his barking, but it is enough to give you an idea.

Benny's little tantrum went on for about 60 miles and then finally we were back home. Once home, we followed doctor's orders and gave him a soft meal. He gobbled it up and then took a much needed nap.

When asked what I love about Benjamin, Henry & Luna, one of the things high on my list is that they make me laugh every single day. I was treated to a fine example of their silliness just the other day when we came home from running errands.

When we let the pugs out of their crate, in their excitement, the boys always grab a stuffed toy and run around the house with it in their mouth. Well, apparently, Henry was thirsty and had a bit of a dilemma on his hands because he didn't want to put down the toy down to get a drink. So, he just dropped the toy on the side of the water bowl.

Benny was thirsty too, so he grabbed a quick drink with the toy hanging out on the ledge.

And Henry came back for another drink and that is when the stuffed toy went for a swim.

You may also notice that the stuffed toy is a doll. It was another baby toy that we bought for Luna that was from the same mermaid toy set. However, one again, Henry commandeered it.

I offer you proof of how hot and dry it has been in FL the last few days. It has been so bad that the cat has succumbed to drinking out of the dogs' water bowl.

Cupid has her own water bowl that is out of the pugs' reach. However, she never drinks from it. I change it daily and everyday I shake my head and wonder why we even bother putting out a water bowl just for her because she never drinks from it.

But, even though Cupid ignores her bowl of water, she never drinks from the pugs' water bowl either. You know, she can't risk the dog germs and all that. Instead, she prefers to return to her roots and forage for her water supply. She will sneak a little water from the sink and from time to time I have caught her drinking out of the pool. Something I try to discourage, but let's face it, Cupid has a mind of her own and isn't one for following directions.

But, the other day, when we were sitting down to breakfast, the cat strolled right up to the dogs' water bowl and started lapping up the fresh water. It was such an unusual sight that everyone, including the pugs, stopped and stared. My first reaction was to get a picture, but I didn't have my camera handy. But, lucky for me, Cupid came back to her new watering hole the same time the next morning and I was able to snap a picture with my phone.

As you can seen from the look on Henry's face, everyone is surprised that Cupid now drinks DOG water.

With as many sleepy shots of Luna that I have, I'm thinking I could start a blog feature called Case of the Mondays.

While she looks very cranky, she perks right up if you call her name or if she hears particular noises coming from the kitchen. It is just when Luna sleeps, she goes all out and really gives it her all.

It is very hard for me to believe that this is the same pug that was so nervous that she tried to sleep standing up when we first adopted her. Judging by the way she sleeps now, I think it is safe to say she is felling pretty safe now.

For all the trouble it was raising two puppies at the same time, I wouldn't trade it for anything given the tight bond that the boys share. Sure, they welcomed Luna and Sol into their pack, but for a good, long time it was just the boys and from time to time it shows.

After all, these two broke their puppy teeth in together by devouring a wicker toy basket, learned to climb stairs together and always had someone else to blame for potty accidents in the house before they were fully trained.

I don't think Benny can remember a time when there wasn't a Henry around and as much as he likes to play it cool, I don't think Henry would know what to do with himself if there wasn't a Benny around.

After 8 years, they have mellowed more than I could ever imagine. But, from time to time, the boys will be playing and Henry will grab hold of that big wrinkle on the side of Benny's face and pull him around by it, the way he always used to do when they were pups. And, in that moment, it is like having two, clumsy puppies playing at my feet once more.
