Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Sol, Benjamin and Henry

I know today is not our normal flashback day, but I wanted to share this picture of Sol and the boys to celebrate St. Patrick's day. Sol was never one for dressing up, but she sure could rock a bandana.

On a sadder note, March 8th marked the 4th anniversary of Sol's passing to the Rainbow Bridge. In many ways it doesn't seem like that long ago. Of the pugs, I think Luna misses Sol the most. Which is odd because I was worried about how two alpha females would get along, but they got along fantastic. Sol had a calming effect on Luna and helped Luna let go of a lot of her nervous energy. I don't know how Sol did it, but somehow she managed to communicate and let Luna know that all was ok and that she could just relax. In teaching her that great lesson, Sol always taught Luna a few tricks on how to always get her way. I'm thankful for the first gift Solsey, but I could have lived without you sharing your knowledge on how to always get what you want. wink

Ringing in 2014

Luna and Benjamin

We're back! Thanks for your understanding of our brief hiatus for the last few weeks of 2103. It was a super busy end of the year, as I'm sure it was for all of you, but the pugs have all been well.

Luna was super relieved that her end of the year antics (seen here and here) did not land on her Santa's naughty list. She found out on Christmas morning she was still on the good list and enjoyed some super yummy holiday treats.

Henry

Compared to most of the US, the weather in FL has been delightful. Henry spent a lot of the break sunning himself and we got in a few walks with all 3 of the pugs.

Happy 2014 pug lovers!

Happy Thanksgiving

Benjamin and Henry

Luna

I know this post is a few days early, but the pugs have decided that they are going to take a little vacation this week. In their eyes it will hardly be a vacation. Thanksgiving is coming and they must plan and ensure that everything goes off without a hitch!

So look for us Monday of next week and Benjamin, Henry and Luna will give you an update on how the big feast went.

Happy Thanksgiving! Have a wonderful week!

Spider-Man & Spider-Woman

Benjamin & Grammy

Not only was Benjamin Spider-Man for Halloween, but so was Grammy!

On Halloween night, Benny rushed up to Grammy's house to meet his fellow Spider-Man for trick-or-treating. Grammy wore here mask a bit better than Benjamin did. Benny's costume had some sort of kerchief that was supposed to be his mask, but he wasn't very fond of it. Instead of wearing it on his head, he wore it as a little cape. I think Benny was a little jealous of Henry's cape. I know Henry was not envious of Benny's headgear. This was the first year that Henry's costume did not have a hat and he was pleased as punch.

Happy Halloween from the Super Pugs

Benjamin, Henry and Luna

Well, another Halloween is coming to fruition. Each year we turmoil and ask ourselves (and often ask others, too), "What will the pugs be for Halloween?"

This year was especially challenging. We have a steadfast rule of "no repeats" and this year we do feel like we are kind of teetering on that line. By far the best costumes ever was the year that the boys (pre Luna) dressed as Batman & Robin. So that is why this year, the SuperHeroes theme is blurring the line of what constitutes a repeat.

Benjamin, Henry and Luna

In any event, we went with Superman (Henry), SpiderMan (Benjamin) and Wonder Woman (Luna). The thought process behind these SuperHeroes more lay in the behind the scenes thoughts. We first thought of Benjamin being SpiderMan since he has an arachnoid cyst in his spine. Arachnoids are spiders, thus, naturally, Benjamin makes an ideal SpiderMan. Henry, the only one (knock wood) that has dodged many a health ailment would then of course be SuperMan. Thus leaving Luna, the trooper dog of the century, fits the Wonder Woman costume (mind, body, spirit) to a tee (and boy does she ever rock her costume).

The group will try to go to the 4 or 5 neighbor's homes tonight in hopes of gathering some goodies. The walk this year seems miles long but we will be sure they don't miss a door. Henry will hoof it for sure. Benjamin will make a few driveways and then we will carry him. Luna will likely get carried right from the start. Seeing as how they have not come to love the Solsey pouch or the Solsey stroller yet my forearms and biceps will get a good workout.

We have to come to the reality that this will probably be the last year that they go trick or treating and thus likely the last year the canines will be costumed but they won't mind. They will just show up in the kitchen next year, dressed as a pug, begging for treats at the door of the fridge and then the door of the pantry. That will be enough to suit them.

Happy Halloween to the young, young at heart and the too old to care. OBP is almost there, too. wink
