Ask OBP #3

While the Ask OBP segment received a good number of comments last week, there was only one new question which was more of a technical question. This came from Marina. She had an issue posting pug pictures for the Daily Pug Picture. More specifically, she wondered if it had to do with the fact that she uses a Mac.

Marina, I'm very glad you asked this question. We have not been getting very many pug picture submissions lately and I wonder if it could be due to a technical glitch. The main limiting factor for uploading pictures is image size. If the picture is too large the upload will fail. You can fix this by resizing the image to make it smaller. However, if you don't have a quick way to resize your picture or that doesn't seem to clear up your issue please feel free to email us your photo: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Also, we have run out of new daily pug pictures to send in the newsletter. I know everyone out there has lots of adorable pug pictures! If you could send them in (either via the form or by emailing us) we would very much appreciate it!

Thanks for the question Marina!

We do still promise come through on a blog with some recipes and more about our home cooked food, that is a very large undertaking for us since we have not organized or recipe info in a very accessible method. So, still keep a lookout for that.

Henry

There was a question that I believe Sue VDB had asked on a comment on different post that we will address here. She asked if G-Ma and G-Pa bought the house that Henry scoped out for them a while back. Unfortunately, no. G-Ma and G-Pa decided not to buy the house.

There is another thing that I have been wanting to address but have felt uncomfortable to express in other ways, though, so I will just bring it up here. We want everyone to hopefully understand that we are not writing about Henry's comeback to drum up kudos for us as pug parents. We are overwhelmed by the positive feedback, kind words, kudos and other generous support and we are so thankful to have such supportive readers. But now we are starting to get a complex. We have never intended on writing the blog that brings us such a tribute. It has always been for an update and/or status of the pugs. And to share (hopefully) amusing stories! But especially lately with Henry's comeback, and gradual progress back to health, we feel like we may have inadvertently pulled the attention off of Henry and our worst fear is that if we have ever come off as fishing for compliments. We are seriously humbled by all the love and kindness of you all and we want to be sure that the focus remains the pug(s) ---in this case, now just Henry. We hope this is interpreted in the spirit intended, which is gracious. We love you all and we thank you for loving us peeps, but eyes back on H! He is the star of the show. We will try to be better at bringing the spotlight back to him and off us as it was never meant to be diverted in the first place. It's all about the H, the H, the H, no people (to the tune of "It's all about the Bass, no Treble")

So, back to asking OBP!! Please, ask some questions, so we can keep this party going!

Hi guys! I don’t think any of us have ever felt that you have pulled the attention off of Henry and onto you! Not for one second!  I think we all feel more “connected”, if you will, to you, Henry and the pug community by following you on this journey.  I thank you and commend you for sharing this with us. Your journey and strength, I’m sure, help many of us when we experience issues with our pugs!

It’s all about the H (love it!)
Sometimes Henry’s peep have to be mentioned in his blog, we know that he doesn’t accomplish all of his feats by himself smile

Does Henry like milk??? Not sure how we started giving our puggies milk but they LOVE it! We generally give them vanilla rice milk…they wait for it everyday! We recently adopted a rescue pug and started giving him milk and he loves it too! I think folks find it strange that our kids like milk since they are dogs…think milk is generally only thought of for cats. Was just wondering if you ever gave Henry milk?

I never for once thought OBP peeps were ever fishing for compliments. As fellow pug parents, it is very educational as well as comforting to be a part of your journey with the pugs. I have 3 and they are slowly creeping up in age to 6,7 and 8 and thanks to this blog,I feel much more prepared for what may come. Thank you for opening up your heart and family to us all this way.

Any OBP humans Know it is all about (now) Henry but also any pug such as the companion you tried out for him.  Henry’s whole life story (as was Benny’s and Luna’s) is absolutely entertaining, informative and delightful.  Your writing just carries all of us along.
Don’t feel too special now grin

I did submit a couple of pics yesterday to hopefully bolster the ‘daily’ file.

It has never seemed to me that you’ve been fishing for compliments!  You are central to all that goes on for Henry, and that’s how it seems to me.  Of course, it IS all about the H!

Speaking of the H, I have a question.  How much does he weigh?  Our Bennie was recently at the vet, and the vet likened Bennie to a lineman on a football team.  As I was taking that in, he added, “defensive lineman, too”.  Now I’m feeling remorseful for the extra bites and nibbles I’ve given….

Don’t overthink it, Corinne. If we compliment you, it’s meant sincerely. We don’t think you’re fishing for compliments. You are excellent pug parents, but Henry is very definitely the main draw here.

Never even crossed my mind that Henry’s peeps were fishing for compliments! You are part of The OBP story and it has always been about the pugs who have owned and still own the humans of OBP. How else could the story be written? Pug hugs from pastor sue & the Colorado 2

Daily pug picture? Newsletter? What u mean? Have I been missing out on more pug fun? Phew I found them! I’m on board now, I think. I love that you share the ups and downs of pug ownership. I find useful information and coping skills through your blog. I have been owned by pugs for 20+ years and each one has presented different health issues and I have to say that I have learned much about the breed from you that can’t be found in books or through the vet. My Milo (8) is just now almost completely recovered from a nasty bout of Malassezia (fungus) with a lesion that had to be surgically removed and all 5 vets thought it just had to be mast cell. Phew we thought he was gonna leave us. Princess (6) rescued us 3-1/2 years ago and came to us emaciated, fearful and with a massive internal infection from an embedded piece of hay woven into her flank. She recovered swiftly after surgery and is now the designated barker. Your dedication to all your pugs; past, present and future and to us is greatly appreciated! Thank you

Kudos well deserved yes; fishing for kudos, absolutely not.  Of course it is all about H and that comes through loud and clear on all your posts.  I don’t think any of us truly understand the hard work and efforts put into H’s well being, but we do appreciate what we do know.  No more talk of fishing.  Just go with the fact we appreciate you and want to acknowledge that. Please keep posting as you have.  End of subject.

Now, Martha (Marffa as she is known to the Puppy Posse, aka Pug Wranglers).  I do not give Annie anything besides her Wellness, and an occasional Wellness treat and a rare bit of popcorn or chips. I am one of those mean moms who can resist the eyes boring into me, but only for the sake of her health.  Having said that, she has gained weight in the last 2-3 months, so I have switched her to Wellness Healthy Weight small bites.  While she is no longer the petite little girl, she is no longer overweight and has slimmed down to a nice looking figure. I think the reason for the weight gain is due to the fact she is no longer the wild woman as she was dubbed in doggy day camp.  She has slowed down and because she does not burn off the energy, she has gained weight.  I am still very careful about portion size.

It never once occurred to me that this blog was turning into a “look at me” thing.  I have known since Day 1 that it was and still is about the Pug(s)Henry.  Don’t sweat the load you’re just doing a really fine job and are a little self-concience. I rely on you for news about Henry and for insight to the best things for my Pug (Dolly).  Please don’t stop doing what you do.
