Great Report

Luna

Last Friday, Luna went to the eye vet for a checkup. I am very happy to report it was the best checkup she has had in some time. The tear production in both her eyes was great and there have been no major changes since the last visit. Which means all the drops stay the same and we don't have to go back for another checkup for 6 more months. Go Looney!

I could not be happier to hear of Luna’s eyes stabilizing.  It is such an awesome responsibility to be responsible for the care of a Pug’s eyes.  Good for you, Corrine and Luna.

Good lord…I just found several names and Pugs I’d put on a different sheet of paper.  Talk about organization…I have none. My face is red.  I’ll add them and put them up again.  Sheeeeesh!

Pug Mama - any Abby news?

Also, Sue, how’s the “happy dance” Pug doing?

Smoooooches to both of the Abbys.

As far as Corrine’s honor, the site was http://ock9.com/press/petsource.org although I couldn’t get the photo to come up.  Perhaps Corrine could put on the blog?  I have written them to ask if they could send us a copy.  Since I hadn’t gotten on the site until after I had mentioned it to you all, I didn’t realize it wouldn’t appear but I didn’t want to shut down the screen I was on.  Opps.  But at least we know, again, how talented Corrine is.

Wow! We’re so glad for Luna! =) We knew she can withstand any illness and now she should get some Punkin Bread!

However, we have a problem of our own.
One of Baby’s eyes clouded up overnight and he refuses to get it cleaned. Any suggestions?

I’m so happy for Looney!  Good job on the drops!

About Baby’s eye, if the eye itself is cloudy and it seems to her in the least, she should get to the vet asap.  That was what happened to Bennie when his cornea got scratched.  Antibiotic drops had to be started right away.

Pug Momma how is Abby doing?
Grannygoogs how is Buellerdoing with his leg

I did call the vet this mourning and asked him to explain Abby’s test results so I could understand better he said it was a grade two but the index on a scale of one to ten was 0 to one so that is great news he said on a study the prognosis is five years but that is on the average so I am very happy yesterday I was so scared and each day she is getting back to her self again my hyper little puggie that she is

Luna, you are just too beautiful for words!  What a pretty picture, sweet girl!  I am so glad you’re doing so well!  BIG hugs to you, little angel.

Simply Pug - yes, that is how Abby’s corneal ulcer was - a scratched lens.  If I’m understanding it right, there is a pin size hole in the cornea and bacteria can get into it when there is an ulcer, hence the antibiotics.  If she’s got brown icky stuff around or in her eye, that is possibly the dry eye problem.  Either way your vet should be seen right away.  Good luck to you both.

Oh Sue, if only we could give you a hug.  I guess knowing so many of us care is a hug in a way.  Smooooch! to Abby.  Yea for “happy dances”!

Yeah, Loony!!!!!!!!  You go girl!!!!  What a good mama you have, to be so diligent about the drops to have you in tip top shape with your eyes.

My Abby is holding her own.  Our vet decided to just proceed cautiously and watch her closely, but to not do any more expensive or invasive testing at this time.  Abby is doing pretty good, in fact, we are housesitting/dogsitting for a couple little 2 to 3 yr old dogs, and they have my Abby acting quite a bit younger than she normally does.  Kinda fun having 3 furries around, oh and 2 kitties, can’t forget them, so a total of 5 furry friends:-)  Abby is by far, the queen bee, unless you count Millie the tortie cat, that has THE biggest tortie attitude problem imaginable:-)

UPDATE ON BABY: He has been diagnosed with Corneal Perforation. =( He has received 5 different kinds of drops that will hopefully help out his eye. If not the vet may have to take his eye out. =’(

Baby, Healing prayers being sent your way little love bug <3 I hope you’ll be ok sweetheart, lots of the puggies (my Abby included) have dealt with the eye problems, and if possible, it always pays to get them to a specially trained veterinary opthalmologist.  Take good care!

Huckle

09/29/2010

Simply Pug - did the vet give Baby a timeline as to the severity of the problem and possible resolution. I imagine the vet gave you the ‘worst case’ as a precaution but not to scare you. Please know how much we all are thinking about him, and you.  It’s scary, I know, and so hard to see our furbabies suffering. This is when it’s very, very hard to be a Pug parent.  God bless.

What are the different drops to do for his eye?  Do you have a vet opthalmologist any where close?  Who ever knew there would be such specialized veterinarians (thank heavens!).

I’ve been looking into pet insurance because I’m afraid we’ll get into a situation where one or another of them will needed expensive care and we not have the resources.  Cooper1’s 3 chemos had us seriously seeing the need for insurance. We would have mortgaged the house if necessary to provide care, and aren’t alone I know. Who has used them, and what companies, and how satisfied when needed?  How about pre-existing conditions?

Sue - How is the “happy dance” honey doing today?

Pug hugs,

Huckle,

I have ASPCA Pet Insurance for Toby. There is a $100 deductable so I haven’t used it yet but you may want to look it up on the computer and see what you think.

Oh Luna how happy we all are happy for you! You are a highlight to my day every time there is a picture of you.

THis is the first time in a long time I have been able to go on line two days in a row!! Grandson is out of town (20-years old). I do check all the e-mails when I do get my computer from the “Baby”.

“Baby” our puggie prayers are all going up for you!!

Abby the news sounds good to me!!!

I guess vet wise I am doing OK. He only charges $35 for the visit and very little for shots…PLUS if we will leave her for a while she gets a bath and nails cut!! My granddaughter take her once a year for her rabie shots and GiGi gets the whole treatment.
