Meatloaf, anyone?

Meatloaf for the pugs

I have been reading the book, Eco Dog and there have been several projects that I have very anxious to undertake.  The other day I decided to make the doggie meatloaf that was in the book.  The recipe called for ground beef, oatmeal, mixed veggies, eggs, flaxseed and garlic.  You mix it all together in a bowl and then bake it in the oven for about an hour.

It turned out pretty good.  The next time I make it I think I am going to go with a leaner meat.  Probably 99% fat free ground turkey to cut down on the grease.  But, the pugs, they gave their seal of approval when they chowed it down.

It was a little something different for them and I think they enjoyed it.

I thought garlic was bad for dogs?  Where do you find flaxseed?  Could you post the recipe on the website?  Thanks.

That looks like it’d be tasty for mom and dad too!  And I have no doubt that the pugs gave their enthusiastic approval!!!

Honestly, I think I’d probably try it too!  I think our gang would love this!  Maybe I’ll have to whip it up for one of their birthday parties!

Garlic is really good for dogs, onions aren’t though..

It looks pretty yummy!

Christina,
I found flaxseed at many grocery stores, it’s in the section with flour and other baking products. Might be in health food section also. My husband starting taking it after his heart attack, lowers cholesteral.

Garlic and onions are both bad, but in small quantities are safe.

I agree that Mom and Dad might enjoy it too, but I doubt the puggies would want to share, lol.

Hmmm…I will have to do some research on garlic.  Everything I have heard up to this point suggests garlic is not harmful, but I will definitely check into this more and report back.  I have heard that onions are harmful, though.
