Not Time To Eat

Henry

Henry has gotten in the bad bad habit of wanting breakfast a few hours before actual wake up time. Just so that we can peacefully rest the last couple of hours of sleep, we have begrudgingly obliged. He additionally, has started to consider ANY time right after he wakes up as another meal time. He can be very convincing. He will just stand at his food spot and stare at the wall patiently waiting for his meal. He would stand there for A LONG time if you let him. We try to get his mind off the meal that he is envisioning in his head. Sometimes he will NOT wait patiently and if he is actually pretty hungry, he will bark a bark of desperation as if to say, "you're letting me starve?!" It is obviously all in his head. He is well fed. No doubt about that. Just more blind dog antics.

My foster pug Bella is blind and she always starts making this cute little cry a hour before its time to eat

In the mind of a pug, it’s ALWAYS time to eat!  And I think it’s hilarious how Henry has devised such a successful strategy!

Oh my stars!!  Seeing Henry just standing there, waiting…waiting… I would be a bad pug mommy and end up feeding him a little every time he did that.

Are you sure you are not being played?  Henry has devised another plan to get food.  As Martha said “in the mind of a pug, it is ALWAYS time to eat!”  Smart pug Henry, and your peeps have fallen into your scheme.

How can you not feed him…look how cute he looks standing there with his tail down looking all kinds of dejected;) Vito is one for giving us the “stare” when his pug timer goes off. He will park himself right in front of us and just stare us down until we get up and give him dinner!

Here’s one bad pug-mom confession: Bred into a pug, I think, is the MUST-EAT-NOW passion. How’d that happen? Geez. Here’s the confession thing: Oz would HOWL at me when I would eat. He would stand there in front of me and look STARVED, in spite of his 27 pound girth. So I would GIVE IN. There. I said it. I am the one who made him “chubby.” ADVICE: Don’t give in. Oh, and good luck with that.
