I do believe Benny is willing that pugkin bread to fly to him, and wondering why it hasn’t moved.

What total focus!  If the roof fell in, he’d still maintain that laser-like gaze : )

Such a cute picture and the bread looks very delicious!

Okay, OBP’ers, my husband and I need a little support or encouragement and since you all are usually so loving, I thought this would be the place to go…

On October 6, we had to put down my orange and white tabby cat, who was 9-years-old, because she had cancer in her lungs so bad, she couldn’t breathe.  It’s true what they say, on Tuesday night, Maya gave me the “I’m done look” and it broke my heart.  It was the only thing we could do for her.  She already had surgery and chemo wasn’t an option because the cancer was so aggressive.

Then on October 19, almost two weeks to the day, my husband’s lab Happer, who was 14-years-old, died too; basically of old age.  He lived a good life and actually beat cancer! (check out our URL for Happer’s story).  He was an amazing dog who only recently stopped going to work everyday with Matt because it was too hard on his body.

Now, Abbey our 3, almost 4, year old pug is the only one left.  It’s pretty quiet around our house and she is definitely feeling the absence of her older siblings.  Any advice on how we can help her?  We are expecting our first child in December, so getting Abbey a new playmate is out for now.

It has been a really rough October at our house and we’d appreciate any support and love from you all in OBP land.

Thank you in advance!
Darci

Benny’s worried…there are only two slices, so to be fair, he will eat them both and no one gets their feelings hurt.  Yuuuuuuuuuuum!  Sorry Luna and Henry.

Darci~I’m so sorry for your loss! That is so sad and so hard to go through! I think if you pay extra attention to Abbey, she will do just fine. Pip did really good when our first baby came along. He adjusted really well.

I will keep you in my thoughts and say a lot of prayers for your family. So sorry about your cat and Happer.

Darci - what a really sad time you, Matt and Abbey have had, I agree with Gina, spend more time with Abbey and maybe get her a new toy or something. My 6 are wonderful with babies, very protective and gentle.
Also remember, the Rainbow Bridge Poem, when you’ll get to met Maya and Happer, both strong and happy waiting for you on the other side.
You will all be in my thoughts and prayers and we’ll light candles for you tonight!

Benny has Mom given you a slice of that yet?? Or do you have to wait for actual Halloween??

Matt, Darci and Abbey, I am so very sorry to hear of your losses. Two losses of two precious babies is a lot to bear, and it is not hard to see they were both loved very much.

Darci, with the new baby it will be more difficult to pay extra attention to Abbey, but you can include her in the daily care of your baby simply by talking to her and the baby.  Perhaps some new toys will help.

Have you thought any about the possibility of adopting an older pug that is already housebroken and not going through the puppy stage, that could comfortably blend in with the family?  That way it wouldn’t be so difficult on you and could be what all of you need.

Congratulations on the upcoming baby, and please keep us informed how you are doing. OBPlanders care.
