Slow and Steady

Henry

Henry has always been the tortoise (in comparison to Benjamin being the Hare in the infamous fable). So, in his healing we expect no different. He is simply pacing himself and taking each day as it comes.

We will see the oncologist on Monday and since they are 90 miles away, we are going to stay up there in a hotel the night before. This will not be routine or habit and we are bit concerned about this working him up into a frenzy since it will be new and exciting but we hope to stay relaxed and mellow so that it seems natural. The first appointment will be a big one for us. They said plan between 2 and 5 hours for the appointment. And we don't even have the full results back yet from the kidney biopsy from this Monday yet. OBP people stress is starting to spike, but calm, cool, collected Hank is his ever even keeled self. He truly never ceases to amaze us.

We are all playing on Team Henry. He is for real #HenryStrong. And maybe some day we will think of some quirky challenge to raise awareness for dog cancer (like the ice bucket challenge that's going on now for ALS). Maybe it would be something like lifting your leg to pee on a tree. Just kidding. Gotta laugh to keep from crying, right?

I love this picture.  He seems comfortable and who can resist that smooshy face?  Not me!  Corrine, I’m not crazy about “lifting your leg for dog cancer”, but I’d totally be on board for “eat a milk bone for dog cancer”.  (I tried a piece once, to see what Sleighbelle was excited about-meh, rather boring to me!!)  Go HENRY!!!!

Henry looks like he is sleeping like a sweet baby. He is quite handsome and irresistible.  I bet he will take the hotel as a big adventure as long as his fam is with him. I just bet everything will be fine. Know you can’t help but worry. Prayers still coming from your friends in central Texas.

I’d be a hot mess too…that is to be expected under the circumstances! Perhaps he will think he is being rewarded with a road trip since he has a “boo boo” belly:) Continuing to pray here…

Take one step at a time.  It’s a very hard thing to do, but you are doing it, and you’re doing a very good job of it!  And Henry is able to be HenryStrong because of you!  When Monday comes, I know you’ll have it together and be able to get a plan in place for Handsome Henry.

As for the “Pee on a Tree Challenge”, I will do it.  But ONLY if there is no pesky cell phone camera around.  (Oh my….I can only imagine those videos.)

Continued prayers for the road ahead-HENRY STRONG-ALL DAY LONG! How about a dog bone hunt? Each bone will have a dollar amount to be donated to cure dog cancer. Should be a lot easier than some of us trying to do a leg lift! Pug hugs from pastor sue & the Colorado 2

Just an FYI…we buy our kidz “Zuke’s” treats. They were created by a guy in Colorado I think who named them after his dog “Zuke”...Zuke had cancer. Part of the purchase price goes to Cancer Research for dogs. We live in South Jersey and can get them here…not sure if they are available where you are but thought I would share.

Good luck you guys!! Stay strong and keep laughing - it really is the best medicine.

I have found that Bach’s Rescue Remedy really helps keep me and my pugs calm and relaxed when we have to go on an adventure. You can usually find it at any local health food store.

My little grumble and I will be holding a healing space in our hearts for you guys and sending you lots of good energy!

Sending you and Henry hugs and love.  He looks so much like my Charlie, who is 10.  I hate it that they age so much faster than we do.

Team Henry and Henry Strong are excellent tags for our sweet Henry.

How about Team OBP and OBP Strong for the humans.
