Bennie & Blue

Bennie & Blue

A little bit more about Bennie & Blue courtesy of their owner.

Age: Bennie: 5 1/2 years; Blue has sadly crossed the rainbow bridge

Likes: Bennie: any food that’s ever present in our kitchen.  Blue: watching and overseeing his family- he was so protective of us.

Dislikes: Bennie: getting his nails trimmed.  Blue: watching our sons have a wrestling match.

Favorite Treat or Toy: Bennie: his green squeaky frog.  Blue: pig ears.

More about Bennie & Blue:

Overall, Blue didn’t care for other dogs, but he made a great big exception for Bennie.  And as for Bennie, he loved every single thing about Blue.  Sometimes we called him Blue Junior when he’d try to imitate him.  They were very close, and when Blue went to the Rainbow Bridge, Bennie was just as sad as we were.

My, what a brave little pug you are, to be king of the mountain!!!

Abby’s check-up went well yesterday.  Officially in the clear from this latest episode.  Our next challenge is trying to locate a substitute for her Optimmune eye ointment, which is apparently on manufacture backorder!!  It’s always something with these puggies, isn’t it?

Talk about “TOP DOG!!!!!” or Sir Bennie [aka] Edmund Hillary. or just plain “Bennie the Braveheart” very precious!!
Pug Mama, so pleased about Abby - Bless both of you
Tai-Tai [one of the two terrible teenagers] wasn’t too well on Wednesday night, I thought it might be the onset of Billiary - a tick that affects the liver and they can die very quickly so I dosed her with my homeopathic medicine - Milk of Thistle [regenerates liver cells] as well as half an ‘infant asprin’ and 5cc of Heptonic [Vit B12] This made her feel better, so she ate some boiled skinless chicken. Grampa Oki took her down to the Vet yesterday, and sure enough it was Billiary, but Vet was amazed at the level of ‘resistance’ in her system, I called the vet today and told him what I had given her, he was amazed and called me back to say that he had been on the ‘net’ and sure enough Milk of Thistle is one fantastic cure.
I read about it on an American Web site that offers natural remedies to chemical remedies.
If any one is interested on the site, please e-mail me at admin@slm.co.za

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Blue.  He was one magnificent GS.

Handsom Bennie, you are evidently one very spoiled, happy Pug.  I am sorry you no longer have your companion.

Pug Mama, so glad to hear your Abby is over her illness.  Hope you are able to find a good substitute for her eye ointment.

Hi Benny,
You surely have a beautiful big Pal to sit on and enjoy as your friend and companion.  How sad for you to lose your Blue.  You do look like a very happy little Puggy.

I just read the special comments about Bennie and Blue - I’m sorry about Blue too.  There’s nothing like losing a beloved dog - faithful companion.  I wrote my comments above earlier before I read about the loss of Blue.  I apologize for the oversight.

Giddy ‘Yup Puggy Pony!

So very, very sorry to hear that Blue has crossed. He sounds like he was an absolute sweetheart. I hope that you’re all, including Bennie, are getting along ok.

Martha

Yes, we all are getting along okay.  As we all know, it takes a while…  And having Bennie helped my husband and me a lot.  I hope we helped him as much as he helped us.

Yesterday, the whole town was without cable (= computer for us)all day until about 10pm, and the one day when my husband had conversations with two of his doctors and needed distraction.  The first doctor who called (while my husband wasn’t home) wanted to have him call.  I think I left him at a loss for words as I said was it about the tests, which he answered, but then I said, it isn’t good, is it?  He hadn’t expected the question, and I was sure he wouldn’t tell me anything but he did say “no, it wasn’t.  This turkey has the personality of a turnip but luckily the next dr. he talked to was giving him a lot of good feedback and reassurance luckily he was the oncologist.

Martha - I love that photo and it’s so great in bringing good memories for you now I imagine.  That belongs in the Pug Hall of Fame!

Grannygoogs - that Milk of Thistle is a good thing to know.  You must have a good vet to admit he could learn about new things and didn’t find that a threat.

Hope everyone’s weekends have good well up to now (Sat. - 6pm).

Huckle, I’m happy to hear that your husband’s oncologist gave your husband some good feedback and reassurances.  Just like the vets for our babies, there are doctors and then there are DOCTORS.  Glad your husband made a connection with a DOCTOR.

Hi Martha,
I am just realizing that you are one of the many who sent me beautiful comforting words when I lost my beloved Sweet Miss Katie on August 2, a day I will never forget.  Now, I see who it is that you lost and my heart breaks for you.  I think you are so lucky to have that absolutely breathtaking photo of your pair of Dog Best Friends.  That picture touches my heart and I am sure you treasure it.
Please know that we are thinking of you here in our household.
Hugs,
Elizabeth and Mini Cooper and Miss Jassmine, my Himi Cat (13 Years old)
