Benjamin was outside, when he spotted this dragonfly that made its way into the screened in area and was sitting on his level on my office door. Being the outgoing guy that he is, he immediately went over to give the dragonfly a good sniff. Surprisingly, the dragonfly did not budge.
After thoroughly inspecting the dragonfly, Benny went over to his favorite chair to sun himself leaving the dragonfly perfectly intact.
The boys have a very gentle nature about them. On our walks we have encountered many critters, but neither Benjamin nor Henry has ever harmed any of them. We most commonly run into frogs on our walk and the boys just watch them hop along and they don’t try to chase them.
I like to think that this is because they have been exposed to a lot of different animals when they were puppies. They live with a cat and they grew up with a rabbit. It was pretty obvious to them that the cat was not a toy, but the rabbit took a little bit more work when they were puppies. Luckily, Lou, the rabbit was very patient and very brave and I think he taught the boys a very valuable lesson.
As for Luna, I don’t have a complete read on her yet as to how she will handle other smaller critters. She does very well with other dogs, the cat and with babies (she adores children). The jury is still out on frogs, rabbits and other critters.

In the morning, Benjamin, Henry & Luna usually get off to a slow start. Here the gang is all piled up in the chair and a little mad at me because I moved them from the bed to the chair so I could make the bed.
But being the troopers they are, they made due with just the chair and blanket and managed to catch a couple more minutes of shuteye before getting up and gettting their day started.

This weekend we decided to get out and enjoy the beautiful spring weather. We took the boys to a local park and went for a nice, long walk on the trails.
While walking we came across a bird observation deck. The deck was about two stories off the ground and had a nice bench at the top. Everyone eagerly climbed the stairs to the top of the deck and gazed out at the trees and the water below. Baby Benny appears to be afraid of heights because he wasn’t too keen on going close to the edge and looking out.
We did however take a small break from our walk and enjoy the view for a bit. During that time, everyone sat on the bench and waited while we looked around.

After our short break, it was back to the trails. The boys had fun smelling and trotting along. Little Luna was going full steam ahead and was very anxious to go exploring. We had fun and after our long walk everyone was quite tired and ready for a nap.

The other day, while I was working, I glanced over at the gang laying on their dog bed and I noticed that Benny had commandeered Henry’s favorite plush toy and was using it as his personal pillow.
Henry didn’t seem to mind, though. He was fast asleep and not paying any attention to Benny.

When we decided we were going to adopt another dog, one of the biggest worries I had was how the boys would react. The boys have such a strong bond and an interesting dynamic that I didn’t want to ruin that by brining a third pug into the house. At the other end of the spectrum, I was worried that since the boys have such a strong bond, they would want nothing to do with the new pug.
We have had Luna for about two months and luckily none of my worries are true. The boys have accepted Luna and welcomed her to the pack and Benjamin & Henry are still the inseparable duo they were before Luna arrived.
I feel really lucky that the boys have accepted Luna so well. She has only been here for two months but it feels like she has always been a part of our family. I give a lot of credit to the boys, but I also give a lot of credit to Luna. The little girl is so eager to please and I think she really likes her big brothers. I know the boys love having a little sister.

We always joke that Benny is a little, old man that is set in his ways. He has a certain routine for his day and he likes it that way. He doesn’t like it when his routine is interrupted or altered.
One of the things that he always does when he wants to settle in your lap is he always brings something with him. It could be his puffy, a plush toy or even a bone. Once in your lap, he shoves his face in yours and gives you a real close look at whatever he has brought you. He doesn’t want you to take it from his mouth, he just wants you to get a real close look at it. After he has showed it to you, he then settles and will hold on to whatever he has brought you for a few minutes until he has fallen asleep and dropped whatever was in his mouth.
This morning I had the pleasure of getting an up-close look at a soggy rawhide bone that he had been chewing earlier. When he first started doing this as a puppy, it took us awhile to figure out what he wanted us to do as he was shoving all of these random things in our face. But now we know it is just a Benny thing and it is all part of Benny’s endearing charm.

On Sunday morning, I had to go to the garage to get something out of the car and before I even realized it Benjamin, Henry & Luna had snuck into the car and were camped out in the front seat.
I told them that we weren’t going for a car ride, but they weren’t taking no for an answer. They were persistent and wouldn’t leave the car until I brought out the treats and I promised them that after breakfast we would go for a ride to the park.
So despite the fact that it was a very windy day, after breakfast we drove the long way to the park so the boys and little Luna could have some extra time in the car and we took a nice long walk at the park.
They twisted my arm, but we had fun!
