Jealous

Henry

Is it wrong to be jealous of your pug?

Every morning, when the alarm beckons me out of bed, I wrap each one of them up and get them all comfy somewhere else so I can make the bed.  I get ready and then they join me for breakfast where they get a couple bites of bananas and a few cheerios.  After that, I am rushing to the office (granted, I am super-spoiled because I work from home, but it is work nonetheless) and the pugs go back to bed.  I would love to get up, eat breakfast and then go back to sleep.  That would be grand!

I guess the hard part is that they rub it in.  They cuddle up in my office and snore their little hearts out.  Occasionally, one of them will pop up their head and give me a look letting me know that “it would be great if I could keep it down!”  Some days I want to be a pug!

Melancholy

Henry

This is how Henry acts on cloudy days.  It’s a good thing we don’t live somewhere where they have real winters!

Eye Update

Yesterday marked one week since Henry visited the ophthalmologist.  We have been sticking to his medicine schedule and his bump looks a lot better, but it is not completely gone.  We have one more week before he goes back for a follow-up and I hope by then that the bump is gone!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Sorry for the lack of a picture to accompany this entry.  It has been one of those mornings already.  But, here are some old pictures of Benjamin, Henry & Luna for you on Flickr.  I am going to try to be more diligent in adding photos to Flickr.

Little Help

Henry waiting at the door to go outside

You would never know that we have a doggie door.  Santa brought one and while Ben, Henry & Cupid have all learned to use the door they all have their quirks.  Henry’s quirk is that he will not walk through the door with anything in his mouth.  His favorite thing to do is to take a bone out by the pool and chew it while sunning himself.  So needless to say, whenever he has a bone to take outside he comes and sits by the door and patiently waits for me to open it for him.

I’m not exactly sure what he thinks.  I think he thinks he is too wide to go through the doggie door when he has something in his mouth.  Before we got the doggie door he was like that with the regular doors.  If he has something his mouth you have to open the door real wide for him to come in.  You would think we gave him bones that were 5 feet long!

Luna on the other hand won’t use the doggie door without some assistance.  She is scared to push the flap open.  Which makes no sense at all.  She will run full steam into the sliding glass door, but she it too timid to walk through a space that she knows is for sure open.  Go figure.  We are working with her on it though.

Eye Report

We returned home the from eye doctor yesterday with a pretty good prognosis.

Luna

Little Luna’s eyes seemed to be about the same.  No worse, no better.  Which is good because up until this point they seemed to be getting worse.  There were some minor adjustments in her meds, but that was to be expected.  And the best news is that she doesn’t have to return for a checkup for 4-6 months!

Henry

It was Henry with his bump that I was really concerned about.  He was diagnosed with an Episclaral Mass which is just fancy talk meaning that he has a bump on his eye.  It could be a tumor of some type or it could be the result of something poking him in the eye.  With our eye experience from Luna, we gave Henry a little of her ointment before we made it in for the eye appointment and it seemed to help ease a little bit of the irritation in his eye.  We confessed this to the eye doctor and she said that we did the right thing and she actually prescribed the same ointment for him.  So, he will be on that for two weeks and then he goes back for a checkup.  Hopefully, by then, things should be cleared up.  Otherwise, the bump is a tumor.  Right now, both the eye doctor and myself are leaning towards the bump being a result of an injury.  We will know more in about two weeks, though.  Hopefully, we both will be right.

We stocked up on all of Luna’s meds, got the ointment for Henry’s eye, forked over $380 and left for the long car ride home.

To the Eye Doc

Luna & Henry

This afternoon Luna will be heading back to the eye doctor for her checkup.  Hopefully all will be well.  She will be joined this time by Henry, who will be getting his first exam by the ophthalmologist.  It seems he has developed a bump on his eye.  We have no idea what it is or how it got there.  But is sure has made his eye very red and irritated looking.  So we figured we better get him in to see the eye doctor right away.  Since we are taking Henry we might as well take Luna because she is just about a week shy of her checkup appt.

Can you say never a dull moment?

Get Off My Back

Benjamin, Henry & Luna

Benjamin likes to lay on things.  People, dogs, pugs it doesn’t matter.  If you are sitting still he will plop right on top of you.  Size wise, Benny is the middle pug so when he plops down on Henry it isn’t really a big deal.  Henry isn’t always thrilled, but he can handle it.  When he plops down on Luna, though, it is a different story.  He nearly squishes her and Luna always desperately tries to wiggle her way out from underneath him.  We have to remind him that he just can’t go around squishing his sister.
