I know I’m not always the most well behaved pug out there, but I would like you to know that you and I have been buds all year long. I haven’t let you get buried at the bottom of the toy bin and I have made sure that you haven’t lost any limbs during one of my many games of tug. I look out for you Santa. I hope you remember this at Christmastime and drop a few extra treats into my stocking (mine is the purple one). Afterall, good behavior is overrated. Don’t ya think Santa?
The house is bare! Well not really. Just the rooms with carpet in them. We had our carpet cleaned on Tuesday and in preparation we moved all of the furniture out of the rooms that were to be cleaned. Benny made me laugh because he set up shop right in the middle of the empty living room. He was steady chewing his bone, oblivious to the fact that everything else around him had been removed. As long as no one touched his bone, he was a happy fellow.
With 3 pugs, a cat, and two humans we try to clean the carpet every 6 months to keep things looking nice. We normally rent a carpet cleaning machine and do the cleaning ourselves, but this time we brought in a professional. When we clean the carpet, it is an all day affair. Mainly because we have to empty and refill the steamcleaner’s bucket so many times. So since we were tight on time, and the carpet was ready for cleaning, we paid someone to clean it for us. And let me just tell you, I don’t think I will ever clean it again! They were in and out in about an hour and a half and the carpet looks great!
But don’t worry. The pugs weren’t too inconvenienced by the carpet cleaning. I spent the day working at the kitchen table and I made sure to setup a makeshift sleeping area for the pugs. They made do and were happy to have the beds because watching the guy steam clean the carpet really tired them out!
Now we will just have to wait and see if Benny can keep his streak intact. The last two times we cleaned the carpet, Benny promptly threw up on the nice clean rug. The first time it was within the first week of the cleaning and the second time it was within two days. There is just something about a nice clean rug that makes Benny nauseous.
Every work day at 3pm this is what I see. Pugs gazing up at me, letting me know it is time for dinner. A little bit before 3pm they start to gather at me feet and somehow they know exactly when the clock turns to 3:00. If I have not gotten up to feed them by then, Benny will paw at my leg to let me know that I am neglecting my duties. He is like a cranky old man demanding his early bird special.
This weekend was a pretty lazy weekend for the pugs. It was hot outside and we had a ton of errands to run, which meant the pugs didn’t really get a chance to get out and have much fun.
Henry did get a chance to swim a little bit on Sunday, but we were just taking a quick dip in the pool to cool down after cutting the grass, so we didn’t bother setting up the puppy pool or anything.
The highlight of the weekend for Luna and Benny & Henry was Sunday night’s dinner. We had a rotisserie chicken (from Sam’s Club). As soon as we step foot in the house with the chicken, Luna finds the bird on the counter and just barks and barks at it. She loves chicken! So since the weekend was kind of boring for the pugs, we gave them a little extra chicken at dinner. That made them very happy!
There has been very little sunshine the last few days here on the east coast of FL. Without sunbeams to bask in, the pugs have been a little down in the dumps.
Yesterday, Benjamin had to bury himself in the couch because he couldn’t stand the thought of having to make another pee pee in the rain!
And Henry & Luna have turned to each for support to get through these gloomy days.
Here’s hoping for some sunshine for Benny, Henry & Luna who are missing it dearly.
Last night was Henry’s lucky night! We had spaghetti for dinner and since he has been getting a lot of exercise lately we let him have a few extra noodles. For me, the highlight of having spaghetti is watching Henry slurp down some noodles. We have a few good pictures that show how his eyes get so big with excitement in anticipation and a little video with all the appropriate pug sound effects.
The tiny Mimosa tree that we planted in the backyard appears to be doubling in size everyday. Since it has grown so much since my last update, when I caught Henry sitting next to it the other day I quickly snapped a picture and knew it would be perfect for the next Mimo update. Benny, however, got a little jealous and promptly came over to water the Mimo. It seems he doesn’t like the Mimo stealing his blogging limelight.
When I fussed at Benjamin for being such a cranky old man, he gave me a look that said, “What? You don’t think this little tree is getting so big from water and sunlight alone, do you? It’s all because of Benny’s specially formulated Miracle Grow!”
