Henry's recovery from his eye surgery has been remarkable. He has taken everything in stride and we have been amazed with how quickly he has adjusted to having only one eye. However, this weekend, we did notice a bit of a bump near where his eye is stitched shut. After a few minutes of investigation we quickly realized it was a stitch! When we took him to get his stitches out they forgot to remove one. We tried to remove it ourselves, but it was not coming out. We are going to take him to the vet to get hopefully that final stitch removed.
This is the second time that this has happened with Henry. When he was a pup, he had a minor surgery and they left one of the stitches in him then. For some reason, Henry likes to hang on to his stitches.

"Driveway Time" is my absolute favorite part of the day. During the week, driveway time happens right when I get home from work. Once I park in the garage, the pugs run out of the house to greet me (and to see if I happened to bring home anything yummy). After the greetings and the inspection of my car and lunch box, we just hang out in the driveway for a bit. It is the absolute best way to unwind!

Well look at this! Luna outlasted Henry in the sun!
Both Henry and Luna were laying in the sun together, but Henry broke first and went to the shade. After Henry left, Luna sat up with her chest out a bit, super proud that she outlasted the sun lover himself!
On a different note, we have been having some issue with commenting on posts. I know some are having issues commenting from time to time. I am working on getting that fixed, but it happens so sporadically that I'm not 100% sure what is going on. I appreciate your patience while I work through this issue. If you are not able to comment let me know and I will try to work through it with you. Also, over the weekend, we had some pretty unfriendly comments. Because of that, I have turned on comment moderation. So, when you post a comment it will not appear right away. Instead it will appear after I have approved it. I will try to keep this delay to a minimum, but I appreciate your patience.

This picture is a bit of an outtake, but I love how it looks like Henry is leaning in to get a picture taken with his little sis.

When I started taking this shot, Henry was laying down next to Luna and paying no attention to me. I snapped my fingers to get him to look at the camera. Instead he got up and ran towards me. In sitting up, he leaned in to Luna and I was lucky enough to get this shot.

Henry has finally been sprung from the cone of shame!
On Friday, we took Henry in for his post surgery, follow up appointment. The eye vet was very pleased with how everything is healing and removed the stitches from Henry's eye. After the stitches were removed we had to leave the cone on for one more day. But, Saturday was a happy happy day when Henry finally got to lose the cone. I'm not sure who was happiest about it. Henry, me or Benjamin, Luna and Cupid. Henry was a one man wrecking crew in that thing. I think the funniest incident was when he knocked a night light off the wall when rushing to the kitchen to get a treat.
In any case, I am so relieved to be on this side of the surgery. I had a lot of angst going into this one. I'm not exactly sure why. Usually, I am nervous, but I know that everything is going to be ok in the long run. If only I would have know how well Henry would handle everything. That would have saved me a lot of worrying

I am happy to report that Henry did wonderful this weekend! I worked from home on Friday and Henry got some much needed rest. He didn't sleep quite as well as he normally does on the first night home from surgery. I think the biggest problem was getting used to the cone. But, by Friday afternoon, he was doing a lot better managing the satellite dish around his neck and was able to get a bit more comfortable.

In true Henry style, he also coaxed me into spending some time outside with him on Friday. His thinking was that sunshine is the best medicine. I don't know about that, but I was happy to see him wanting to do the things that he enjoys.

On Saturday morning, we noticed that a lot of the swelling in his eye had subsided. By Sunday, some of the redness was also fading. Overall, I think he is healing very well. He has taken it all in stride.
Benjamin and Luna are also taking it very well. Ever since Henry came home last Thursday, he has been a one man wrecking crew with his cone. He has been bumping the cone into Benny and Luna all weekend. They have been very patient with Henry even though there have been times he has almost bowled them over with his cone of shame.

I am so happy to report that Henry is home and is doing very well. He was super happy to see us yesterday. Once he said hello, he marched right out of the vet's office and was scanning the parking lot wondering where we parked because he was ready to get home.
Once we got home, he made no bones about wanting to eat. We gave him a bit of food and he was ready for more. I thought it was a really good sign that his appetite was already back.
I think the hardest thing for him to manage has been the cone. His cone is catching on everything and when that happens he's not sure if it because of something he can't see or if it is because he has a satellite dish on his head. I'm sure in a day or two he will be doing much better getting around with the cone of shame. For now we are super glad he is home and doing so well.
Thank you for all your warm thoughts and kind wishes. It meant so much and was such a tremendous help in getting through these last few days. Have a great weekend!
