Warm pumpkin bread
And piping hot turkey
Smooshy bananas
And tough chicken jerky
Slippery noodles that look like they’re strings
These are a few of our favorite things!
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Owned by Pugs! We are thankful for everyone that drops by each day to catch up with Benjamin, Henry & Luna! Be safe and have a great holiday!

We went for our usual after work walk last night, but to Henry’s dismay we headed out the door in costume. The boys and Luna were all dressed up and as we made our way through the neighborhood we stopped at a few of the houses in the neighborhood for some trick or treating. When Henry realized what we were doing, he no longer seemed to care about his costume and he was a very happy boy.
They got a ton of treats, ranging from carrots to frosted mini wheats to Beggin’ Strips. They loved it!
After the walk, it was time to man the door and hand out candy to the neighborhood kids. The pugs like seeing all the kids dressed up, although they were a little bit barky as they were unsure as to why we had so many visitors last night.
All in all, it was a really good night. I hope everyone had a great Halloween!

It is the last day of October
And we’re causing a stir
Time to get all dressed up
Glad we rested up
We’ll walk ‘round the hood
Cause we’re all looking good
Nice and sporty we’re dressed
They’re all so impressed
Two handsome football players
Answering Super Bowl prayers
With the girl leading a cheer
Have no more fear
There is nothing scary
Just some pugs that are hairy
At OBP it can be seen
This year’s costumes for Halloween

Enjoy and have a safe night! For fun, we have also uploaded pictures from past Halloweens to Flickr.

Labor Day Weekend has come to a close and while life has gotten back to normal, we are still smiling from all the fun we had this weekend. I wouldn’t say that the weekend was relaxing, but it was chock full of fun and we were on the go from one fun thing to the next all weekend long.
Things got off to a great start Thursday night because we had pizza for dinner. Pizza is one of my favorite foods and the pugs don’t mind it either. They love to get their little bits of pizza crust.

Friday we did some shopping and in the afternoon we had some downtime with the pugs. We played chase in the yard and the pugs had fun ripping apart a few of their stuffed animals. I wish I had pictures, but I was in on the fun and unfortunately didn’t get a chance to snap too many pictures.
On Sunday, we had a family cookout and the pugs had a lot of fun. Henry loves cookouts and get togethers because when there is a large group of people in the house there is always someone with a free hand to pet him. So he just goes from person to person getting pet. He is a real outgoing guy.
Benjamin loves cookouts because of the food. There are all kind of snacks and the house is filled with people that have not gotten used to Baby Benny’s charming good looks. So, he finds it pretty easy to get some treats throughout the day.

Luna loves cookouts because she always get to put on one of her best dresses and prance around. She just loves how everyone stops to tell her how gorgeous she looks.
Plus, I cooked up an extra burger for the pugs to split. They were quite happy with that special treat!
On Monday, we went to the beach, sans pugs because it was too hot. We stayed for about two hours and then we came home to swim in the pool. Henry was in rare form and was having a blast swimming and fetching things in the pool.

We had some family over swimming with us and Henry was really showing off. He was jumping into the pool off the first step and splashing around.

Benjamin was also fired up and he kept waiting for Henry to bring his toys out of the pool so that he could steal them and run around the yard with them. Anything to get them farther away the pool.

After all that swimming, we had another family get together to play some games. This time all the pugs were tired out and they were very happy that there were plenty of laps to go around.
I am happy to say that I actually took a break from work this weekend. I did a couple small things in between outings, but compared to what I normally do this can be considered a work free weekend for me. Granted, I am paying the price for it now, but it will all get done, eventually

I am really looking forward to the long Labor Day Weekend. So much so, that I took today off so that I could have another day of some downtime. We have a few plans for the weekend, but we still have some time left to to relax and enjoy ourselves. Now hopefully we will take advantage of it. We usually quickly fill our free time with errands and tasks that we have been putting off. But this time, I think R&R is going to be my number one priority.
I hope everyone has a safe and fun filled weekend. Hopefully, on Monday, I will return refreshed and with lots of stories of the fun things we did with the pugs this long weekend. Take care everyone!

For Halloween in 2005, Benjamin & Henry wanted to show off their superhero side and they dressed up as Batman & Robin. The boys were quite dashing in their costumes and they got lots of treats from the neighbors that Halloween night.
Recently, I was contacted by Dutch Pug Dog Club Commedia magazine. They are a Dutch magazine that is dedicated to the pug. They have a section in the magazine dedicated to funny pug pictures and they wanted to know if they could use Benjamin & Henry’s Batman & Robin photograph. I happily obliged and about a month later they send me a PDF of the page with Benjamin & Henry. The text is obviously not in English, so they translated it for me. The headline reads: Found on the Internet and the caption says: They put us in a funny suit and they think we are going to rescue the world. I don’t think so! That pretty much sounds like Benny & Henry.

July 4th, 2007

Happy 4th of July! I hope all the US readers have a wonderful and safe holiday. Our original plans were to take the pugs to the beach today, but so far this morning it has been pouring down rain. There may be a bit of a break in the rain later this evening, but I still don’t think it will be beach weather.
So on to plan B. We are just going to have a relaxing day around the house until we go to a cookout later this evening.
One more thing, in honor of Independence Day, H. Doodle is having a sale on the Freedom Harness. For this week only it is on sale for $17.76!

We just wanted to share some other photos from Christmas morning of the boys & Luna with their new goodies. Stay tuned for when Benjamin really got serious and was ready to settle....

On Christmas, we would put down a few presents on the floor and allow the dogs to tear into them. Well, we thought the first they would go for would be the peanut butter rawhide candy cane or the bully sticks but the first thing the boys went for was the package of ping pong balls that we got in an attempt to teach the boys and Luna to fetch. In the past, the only interest any of them has displayed in fetching has been with ping pong balls but they always seem to crunch it up too much to get much play out of them. So we decided to give them a 12 pack for Christmas. Low & behold, that is what Benjamin went for first and then Henry was soon to follow. Here the boys are taking turns opening the package.

Later in the day when they became more interested in too many other things, like Benjamin opening Cupid’s treats, we decided to give them a butcher bone that Santa had left in their stocking.

Christmas was a great day for people & pugs alike.

Well, Santa made a stop by our home this week. He came and spoiled all the critters here. The Boys and Cupid have a couple of Christmas day experiences under their belt, but this is Luna’s first Christmas in her forever home. She was quite overwhelmed to say the least. At first she just pranced around waiting for “something” to happen. She would go from lap to lap and room to room in her girly curiosity to try to find out what all the excitement was about.
As we all took turns opening gifts, many of which were for the dogs, we finally stumbled upon Luna’s favorite toy of Christmas day. It was brought from Maryland by G’Ma and G’Pa (Luna’s Northern grandparents). It was a Christmas tree ornament dog toy with little nubbies that are just the right size for Luna’s petite mouth. She nibbled on it and tossed it in the air. As it made noises she would back off and then she would pounce on it again chewing the little nubs.

Oddly, after she tired from all the commotion, she settled on a small plastic trash bag that we were using for used wrapping paper and she promptly napped for a while after that. She’s an unusual one that little Luna.

Stay posted for more Christmas blogging about the rest of the clan. We hope you and your family had a safe and happy holiday.
