Posing

Henry

While we had fun hiking the trails, you know I didn't let the pugs get away with not posing for the camera.

Henry really fit in with his camo harness. He was like a puppy on this trip!

Hiking

Henry

I think the best part of the vacation by far was our morning hikes with the pugs. The weather was perfect! The pugs could run about and we did not have to worry about them overheating. And it wasn't too cold for us.

Benjamin

The terrain was way more rugged than our normal evening walks which are always on sidewalks. I think this got the pugs all excited because they really felt like they were on an adventure.

Luna

The mountain air and the fresh scenery really invigorated the pugs!

Road Trip

Henry, Luna and Benjamin

Our vacation started with a 9.5 hour drive from FL to the Smoky Mountains in NC. The boys are road trip pros. They have made the trip from MD to FL several times and have the whole routine down pat. They sleep while we drive, potty when we stop to get gas and are just all around awesome travel companions.

This was our first real road trip with Luna, so we were curious to see how she would do. I figured she would just follow the boys' lead and relax while we were on the road.

But, once again I was wrong. There was something about being in the car with all her things that was a little unsettling to Luna. It took 153 miles for her to settle down. She wasn't crazy out of control or anything, but she certainly wasn't as relaxed as the boys who were sawing logs by that point. She was just very alert, like we were going to be arriving at our final destination at any minute.

Luckily, she eventually settled and realized that this was going to be a long road trip. At that point the car was filled with nothing but the sounds of pugs snoring and 80's tunes.

Maggie Valley, NC

Benjamin, Henry and Luna in Maggie Valley NC

For safety sake, I could not announce before we left, but now that we are home safely, I can share that we recently went on our first vacation in several years! We rented a place called The Tree House in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. With pugs in tow, we made the 9(ish) hour drive and sadly left Cupid home alone. (I don't mean that she was neglected! Yikes!) She was well tended to by her Grammy, of course.

More stories and photos to come next week. We just got home and I feel like I need a vacation from my vacation! So this is the best I could do! More later!

Outtakes

Well, the calendar is complete! So, be on the lookout for when they go on sale. They are at the printer as I type.....

As I was snapping the completely gratuitous OBP photos for the inside pages, though, some really wacky instants were captured. Most of them were of Benjamin but there were a couple of Henry & Luna. I wanted to include some of the outtakes.

I really feel like this is necessary to do. I am riddled with guilt! I frequently get positive feedback on some of the photos on the blog and am often asked about my camera or complimented that I am good photographer. I find this buzz amusing since I sit on literally thousands of photos that are just awful! I frequently feel like I have to offer the readers the very best in photo journalism! I doubt any of you would come back a second time if I posted some of the hot mess photo moments that are the more usual photos in my photo gallery!

So, I really needed to share that there are more duds than studs in my repertoire.

A Solsey Moment

Rainbow

I was on my way to work the other day when I encounterd a rare double rainbow. You can see in the photos that there one that is very strong and another one that is faint. Since I was driving I could not capture the double version at it most strong point but am sharing that which I could capture. I have always found rainbows to be remarkable and since I have only seen a few in my life they always seem so special. It was on this morning though that I felt like this was a special smooch from Solsey from the other side of the Rainbow Bridge letting me know that the second rainbow represented a new found friend. Here's wishing for us all to share their own "moments" like these when you encounter something that touches your own heart.

PS I do not support taking photos while driving. I was able to come to a complete stop without obstructing others and take these photos. Please always be cautious driver. smile
