PetSource.org Votes: Remember when I asked all of you to vote for Benjamin & Henry in the PetSource Monthly photo contest? Well, thanks to your votes, the boys won and Compassionate Pug Rescue earned a much deserved $1,000 (they received their check in December). This was the sight during the Packers and Giants game a few Sunday’s ago. Henry was most definitely chillin’ and he had the phone and remote with him so that he wouldn’t even have to bother to get up if the phone were to ring or if he wanted to do a little channel surfing.

Like most pugs Benny is very alert and listens closely when you speak. You might not even be speaking directly to him, but he always has an ear out listening to the words you are speaking. This is all well and good, except for the fact that there are a few words that you can not say to Benny unless you really mean it. Here are a few.
Hungry
Use this word in any sentence and Benjamin will not calm down until you feed him. I think this all started because when him and Henry were pups I always asked them “Are you hungry?” before I fed them. Why? I don’t know. The answer was always a resounding YES. I must have asked them too many times because now you can’t even use the word hungry in any sentence without Benny thinking it is time to eat.
Breakfast, Dinner, Snack or Treat
Unless you are feeding Benny all of these words are off limit. Say any of them and he automatically assumes it is feeding time. It has gotten so bad that we had to start referring to things like our dinner as “D”. We’ll say things like, “So what’s for D?”
Wanna
Benjamin assumes that any sentence that has the word wanna is a question and his answer is always YES. This probably came from me asking them, “Do you wanna go for a walk?” or “Do you wanna go for a car ride?” So if Benny hears the word “wanna” he automatically assumes he is going for a walk or a ride in the car. Even if you ask him something like “Wanna get a bath?” He still assumes he is going to do something fun. He’s definitely an optimist.

Scattered Thoughts is simply a collection of the many pug and dog related thoughts that ran through my head this week that didn’t make it into a post of their own.
New Arrival: Fellow blogger, Ragus Pug welcomed a new arrival this week- sweet little Emma Lee! Congratulations!
Michael Vick: The gag order has been lifted regarding the Michael Vick case and more and more and more is beginning to come out about the rescued dogs. I have stumbled across a few articles and I have been reading all I can. Kudos to all the rescue organizations and volunteers stepping up to help. I am happy to see that many of the dogs could be rescued and will get a chance to be part of a loving family.
Are you ready for some football? We are looking forward to watching the game on Sunday, but I also can’t wait to watch a little bit of Puppy Bowl IV. I love that show!

Pug lover Danielle wrote in and asked if I would post some of the adorable photos of her precious Milo. Milo got sick with cancer and after the cancer spread to his liver and lungs Danielle had to make the painful decision to send him to the Rainbow Bridge to keep him from suffering.
Milo was a true people pug and he won over the hearts of everyone he met including those non-dog loving people.
Danielle, please know that our thoughts are with you.

We returned home the from eye doctor yesterday with a pretty good prognosis.
Little Luna’s eyes seemed to be about the same. No worse, no better. Which is good because up until this point they seemed to be getting worse. There were some minor adjustments in her meds, but that was to be expected. And the best news is that she doesn’t have to return for a checkup for 4-6 months!
It was Henry with his bump that I was really concerned about. He was diagnosed with an Episclaral Mass which is just fancy talk meaning that he has a bump on his eye. It could be a tumor of some type or it could be the result of something poking him in the eye. With our eye experience from Luna, we gave Henry a little of her ointment before we made it in for the eye appointment and it seemed to help ease a little bit of the irritation in his eye. We confessed this to the eye doctor and she said that we did the right thing and she actually prescribed the same ointment for him. So, he will be on that for two weeks and then he goes back for a checkup. Hopefully, by then, things should be cleared up. Otherwise, the bump is a tumor. Right now, both the eye doctor and myself are leaning towards the bump being a result of an injury. We will know more in about two weeks, though. Hopefully, we both will be right.
We stocked up on all of Luna’s meds, got the ointment for Henry’s eye, forked over $380 and left for the long car ride home.

By the way she sleeps, you would think Luna was punished all the time. Rather than sleeping with her back up against the bolster on the dog bed, she likes to use the bolster as a chin rest. Which means she lays there facing the wall like she has been punished. She’s a funny little girl!
From this angle, you can also see her missing fur patches. The ones on her back are the worst. But luckily she is no worse for the wear.
