A Cushion as a Blanket?

Benjamin

Here is Benjamin finally settled in this dog bed. The crazy thing about this is that he scratched and settled eventually under the cushion of the bed. He is using the cushion as a blanket! Silly Benny! I guess this is the way he asks for us to turn the AC down. wink

Awwww, a chilly Baby Benny.  Stay warm (?!) Benjamin and a kiss to you sweet boy.

Thinking of CJ, Romeo, Martha with her shingles, and everyone else…

Got some very bad news yesterday, non-pug related, thank God, so just trying to cope here…Sometimes life is just no fun…Thank goodness for Bax and Cole to lick my tears (which they did literally yesterday)...

If anyone could spare some prayers for my sanity, I’d appreciate it.  Have a great weekend!

This is so cute, my puggsie never asks us to turn the AC down in fact he lives on the AC vents all summer long.

Benny, you look adorable, and you are a very clever pug using a cushion as a blanket when there is no real blanket in sight.  My babies are soaking up the ac this summer.

We are finally getting some rain, and the temp this moring is 79F, which is the lowest it has been for some time, but it will climb back up again; however, not to the 100s.  I still pray for all you guys who have had consisten high temps all summer.

Heather, I’m sorry you are having a rough time.  Of course prayers are going to St. Joseph to give you comfort.  XXOO

Romeo has been very lovable the last few days, and we are both lovin it.  Will post later on his vet visit.

Benny sure knows how to get his bed arranged for maximum comfort. Looks like he is sleeping like a log.
Genevieve has had her place on the back of the couch all this week right under the ceiling fan and Sir Luke manages to be wherever I am at the moment.
Heather, prayers and love to you. Hope everything works out. Martha, hope your shingles are better. And Sue, glad you are getting lots of love from Romeo. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Thank all of you for your thoughts, prayers, support, and love.  It means more to me than you know.  You know how “they” say, people show their true colors in time of crisis…Well, I will say this holds true for me.

Only one of my IRL friends proved themselves worthy of my love and friendship yesterday…I’ve known this person for almost 4 years, lost touch for 1 of those years and I would like to thank God for reuniting us because of most all the people I know, this person is of the highest caliber.

On the other side of that coin, my on-line friends, here at OBP and on my weight watchers boards (down almost 50 pounds since 1-29-11…almost weigh what I weighed in highschool!), have also proven to be some of the most kind, caring, thoughtful, loving, quality people I’ve had the priviledge of “knowing”...even if it’s over the wires.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I love all of you sincerely,
Heather

Baby Benny certainly knows how to make himself comfy!  I think every pug is an expert at that!

And thank you everyone for your kind wishes for me to feel better!  I appreciate it!

Is this a new acquisition, Corrine?  I think it’s got Benny’s vote and only slightly less wrinkles than he.

Heather, you would settle for prayers for you from THIS group. Sanity, eh? All kidding aside, you will be in my thoughts this weekend as you struggle to upright yourself.  How could we go from one crisis to another if we didn’t have the pugs and OBP?  I hear pugs are the best lickers!

OK, Heather…how’d you do it? (The 50 pounds, I mean)  That is awesome and so hard to do and as you get older, it gets harder (from experience).

Sue VDB, I’m not being obnoxious (I hope), but who is St. Joseph?  Since I did not grow up in the Catholic church, I am at a loss.  St. Francis I did know about but not St. Joseph.  Our church does not have these interesting people nor is it quite as old (not you, the church).

Best of wishes for today’s vet appointment.  It will be interesting to see what the vet’s take on this is.

Pug hugs,
Huckle chuckles, etc.

Thanks so very much everyone!!!  The new Weight Watchers program, Points Plus, has been a godsend.  It is now my “normal”, a lifestyle not a diet, and it has stuck.  I’m fitter and skinnier than I’ve been in decades and I couldn’t be more sound in mind (hahaha, not apparent from what I’ve shared today, but on most days) and body.

Thanks again for all your thoughts, prayers, compliments, and laughs (Huckle Chuckle!!!).  Don’t know what I’d do without my OBP family.

Looks like Beny just needed a snuggle buddy and settled for the cushion!

Heather, stay strong!  We’re here for you and I hope your bad news is the kind that will make you stronger!  I’m sorry to hear that you are troubled, will send up some prayersfor you and keep good thoughts for you!  Your weight loss is amazing!  I’m a Weight Watchers LIFETIME member and I do believe in them!

Have a good weekend all!  C.J.‘s paw seems to be getting better (fingers crossed, mine not his), hope your vet visit goes well, Sue VDB!

Heather

Karen, a Lifetime’r…CONGRATS!!!  So awesome!  Can’t wait to be able to say the same thing.  Funny thing is, I surpassed my original personal “goal” because I didn’t think I could ever see this weight/body again.  I’ve far surpassed my own expectations so I’m continuing on to have the “dream body” that I clearly *am* able to have if I put in the effort.  Who knows what my new goal will be…I’ll know when I get there - and then I’ll claim my Lifetime status!

SOOOO happy to hear CJ seems to be on the mend!  YAY.  Give his precious lil’ paw a kiss from me…Oh wait, I remember he’s not letting momma near it.  Well, give him a kiss on the wrinkle for me then.

Sue VDB:  Thinking of you…I think Central time is behind me (I can never remember) which means I have a longer wait than I want to know what the results of Romeo’s visit are.  You both are on my mind and in my heart.

Pug kisses to ALL OF YOU!

Heather, you have all of us supporting you.  I really am not a religious nut, but turn your troubles over to God, and it is amazing what He will do for you.  And, 50 lbs.  WOW, congratulations, I am proud of you.

C.J. improving is great news.

Karen B., congratulations to you as well.

Huckle, St. Joseph is the step father/foster father of Jesus, as in Jesus, Mary and Joseph.  After my own father died I prayed to St. Joseph for help and guidance.  I have also prayed to St. Joseph for my son after my husband died.  I also light candles in church to help other people.  He is one of my favorite saints, after St. Francis.

Romeo is back from the vet..nothing eventful.  His eyes, ears, heart, kidnies, and overall exam given.  The vet still thinks because of all the neurogical problems he has had within the last 5-6 weeks or so, there is the possibiity of a brain tumor.  Because Romeo has had no more of the vestibular symptoms since last Friday he no longer has to take Dramamine; however, if this should reoccur, I should immediately put him back on Dramamine, and if I am with him either put on a shirt to give him a sense of peace or hold him.  Of course I will hold him, but pray it doesn’t happen again.  There really is nothing more that can be done for him, so I have put Romeo’s wellbeing completely in the hands of St. Francis guiding me.

One positive note, since Romeo has been on the thyroid medicine, he has become more active, which makes me very happy.

Another positive note Romeo now weighs 21.7 lbs., which is good.

Huckle has clued me in on a new pet food, and I am going to research that along with some other all natural foods to see if there is something that might be better for him than the Wellness, although he does well on it.  I am also going to investigate coconut oil and Huckle has also clued me on.

That’s very sweet, Heather!  Your GOAL is in sight!

Sounds like we’re all on the upswing, we pray it remains so…...

Have a good one everyone!

Sue VDB ~ I think praying and handing it to God is the best thing. I pray every night that God will touch Romeo and that he will touch you as well to settle your mind and your heart. And this is something that will make you laugh.. hopefully….when I read “I should immediately put him back on Dramamine, and if I am with him either put on a shirt to give him a sense of peace or hold him.”, my first thought was, ‘why isn’t Sue wearing a shirt? why does she need to put one on?’ Then I realized you meant to put a shirt on Romeo. oi vay!!! It’s been that kind of day for me. smile My sister’s dog is terrified of thunder and fireworks and when it thunders, he sits in between my sister and the arm of the couch and she sort of squishes him and he calms down a bit. I don’t mean to be funny but I think they do that with autistic children. They feel better or they feel less anxious if they are kind of ‘squeezed’ sort of. Has anyone else heard of this? Anyway! I pray for everyone else on obp too. You all really are like family. Hugs to everyone!!

Gina, your shirt comment made me laugh out loud.  In rereading what I posted, I can certainly see your way of thinking.  I am still chuckling.  Thanks Gina.  XXOO

Gina, yes.  And they even sell what is called Thundershirt for the very reason that the comfortable tightness calms them down.  I keep wondering if it works.

Karen, I thought you were talking about C.J.s fingers at first, too. You are funny. Glad to hear that C.J.is better.

Gracie’s got one of those “interdigital cysts on her back paw.  My, those are ugly looking things. And the patient is not cooperative.  I thought Abby was bad about her eye meds but it doesn’t compare with Gracie’s reaction of me trying to soak her paw in epsom salts. Her manic antics leave ME soaked.

Weekend pug hugs

Huckle ~ I thought I’d heard or read about those shirts. Very interesting.

I will start sending prayers for Gracie too. And you too Huckle so you won’t get as wet. smile

Huckle, I have read about those Thundershirts, and I believe I read they are guaranteed.  I wish those were around when my Colby was around.  He was a Brittany, and would go beserk when it thundered, when fireworks went off or any loud noise of that type.  One time, in the basement, he broke through the panel wall.  I had to put him in a crate next to me whenever evil struck, and even on meds he was still a mess.

Would it help any at all to just place Gracie and all four paws in the pan?  The epsom salts wouldn’t hurt the other paws and just maybe she might be a little calmer, or does she simply not like to get her paws wet?

Karen B.

I’m crackin’ up here!  C.J.‘s crossed fingers and for goodness sake, put a shirt on!  You guys give me such comic relief, I know I can always count on y’all for a laugh AND great information too…a Thundershirt, huh?
