Benny’s Crush

Benny

Well, it seems that Benjamin has become enamored with Auntie M, his new caretaker. I didn't see it coming, but my baby Benny has fallen for a new woman. And it's the "other" woman no less! I was eating lunch at my desk texting back and forth with Auntie M as she was sharing the events that were transpiring at home with the kids. Suddenly a text message popped up and it read that she was reporting that one of my boys has a crush on her.

Immediately I believe it to be Henry because as long as you have hands for petting, which Auntie M most definitely does, then Henry will be your best friend. But then I thought about it a bit more and while Henry likes his petting, he's not really a "lover" boy. But Benny, the lover boy, is more typically shy around new people. So I didn't think it would be Ben either. I was stumped and curious.

The follow up message read that Benny was indeed the one that simply adores her. And I am not sure why I was surprised. Auntie M is definitely Benny's "type". I guess it was just the realization of the first crush your son has when it is no longer you. It was that odd but silly feeling. As we continued texting, she explained how he just follows her around looking at her with his brown eyes gazing up at her. And that is the classic Benjamin falling in love insignia. Yup, that is Benny.

Then she shot me the photo seen here. (When Ben brings you his puffy it's like there is no turning back. He's all yours.) And that is when I know that I have officially lost my baby to another woman! Fortunately, Benjamin still has plenty of love for me when I get home from work. Benny is so full of love that there is always plenty of Benny love to go around. That's my boy!

Oh Benny!  How could you!!!???!!!  But as long as you have enough lovin’ to go around that is what matters.  And it sounds like Auntie M reciprocates, so that is good too!

Benny, you do have that love struck look in your eyes, but what a shock to Mom.  However, I’m glad when Mom comes home from work, you are full of love for her. I guess it’s a matter of who is available at the time…oh my.

I gotta say - looking at that picture - I would really be torn.  While it’s great that Auntie M is clearly devoted to the puggers (to elicit such a schmushy gaze from Benny), I would be hard put not to have a twinge of sadness to think my “main mom” position had been even a little usurped by another.  But when it comes right down to it:  she IS AUNTIE M after all.  And Benny’s not so fickle as to forget whose pillow he snuggles next to at bedtime I bet.

OH NO…I must admit, I am jealous of Auntie M…Oh to have Ben look up at *me* with that look in his eyes, puffy in mouth…Corrine, you are a trooper as I would probably have shed a little tear - I do NOT share well!  LOL

It is just a tremendous blessing that you found someone clearly as enamoured with the gang as all of us and to know they are in such great hands while you’re at work is priceless!

Fortunately, a pug’s heart (Benny’s in this case) has the ability to get larger when more love is added!

I’m happy Auntie M is such a hit!

Karen B - so happy to read CJ is back home where he belongs.  Sounds like he had a nice, light breakfast and hopefully it is resting comfortably in his tummy!  Please give him a kiss from me.  Will be anxiously awaiting word on the labs hoping and praying it was just a tummy bug.  Get rest CJ!

A look of pure devotion and an offering of puffy..WOW.  It’s good to know you are taking this chain of events so well, Corrine.

A pug heart is big enough for everyone but I’d be a bit green.

Sue VDB - how has Romeo been doing?

Karen - you and C.J. are still in my positive thinking. I know how anxious you will be until you get the results from the lab.  Pug hugs.

Huckle, Romeo is doing fine.  Ever since his emergency he has been a little more loving.  He seems to be doing quite well on his diet as well.  He is getting the same food, just less (almost half) of what he was getting, plus some veggies.

I’ve been wondering about C.J. myself.  Hope the test results are good.

Karen B.

05/04/2011

Hi folks!  Huck and Sue VDB~I don’t know what went wrong with C.J.~test results = mostly normal, one was a little abnormal but that’s probably because of the diarrhea/vomiting…the vet is going to replace the Science Diet C/D and see if it was that particular Lot # of food…we’re all stumped!  Thank you all for asking!  C.J. seems quite unaffected by the whole thing and seems mostly bored…LOL!  Crazy pugs, they can make us worry like nobody’s business!!!

Sue VDB

05/04/2011

Karen, C.J. must not be feeling ill.  Could be a bad batch of food (are we ever sure the food we feed is free of anything bad?), or C.J. could have picked up a bug somewhere.  Is C.J. prone to picking up anything and eating it?  Anyway, you must be breathig a sigh of relief…just been down that road and understand completely.  In fact all of us at OBPland know about that.  Hugs and kisses to that baby.  Thank you St. Francis…keep C.J. safe and healthy.

Karen B.

05/04/2011

Yes, Sue, unfortunately C.J. will eat things he shouldn’t and if I try to take it away, he grrrs and snaps and will bite me!  Gonna try replacing the food and hopefully that’ll do the trick!  Thank you!

It is so stressful to feed our Pugs and not know if the food is good.  We try so hard to do it right yet it is out of our control.  Home prepared raw diets are a question also because we have to meet all nutritionally dictated and balanced vitamins, minerals, etc.  I guess the best answer is to assume what research we’ve done and what we feed are as good as we can come up with and just be vigilant.

Karen - so happy to hear that C.J. is okay.  Smooches to him from the Swamp Pugs.

BTW Grannygoogs, so glad you are back.  We have been waiting and waiting and this is such good news.  Polish up your humor.  We are waiting.

C.J. is on lowfat cottage cheese and white rice (bland diet) but still has the poopies…I hope it stops soon!
