Car Ride for 2

Henry

In efforts to aid Henry and Luna out of the grieving process, we have been taking some trips outside of the house. The problem is that we have to go somewhere that keeps the AC at 70 degrees or cooler. So, that leaves pet stores for the most part. (There are no indoor, climate controlled dog parks nearby and the ice cream shops are not exactly dog friendly.)

And if we keep taking Luna to pet stores she is going to shop us to the poor house (and we need that dough for their medical expenses--LOL). So, we have been just taking short car rides around town a few days a weeks. We keep them close to home though. Henry still likes to ride with his head out the window so we do still let him even though his blindside is the passenger side. He rarely gets to ride on the driver's side with his head out the window. But since that is the side where he can actually see, we occasionally buckle and let him ride, head out window, on lap of driver. (At least we aren't texting, too!) smile

Luna

Luna, on the other hand, is very pleased to be in the back seat and with Henry in the front, now she has the whole back seat to herself. On a particularly unsafe trip, we didn't even put Luna in a harness (with her tags) let alone did we buckle them in with their seat belts. Ugh. Now we are just asking for trouble.

We get a lot of comments about being "good parents" but we can be as irresponsible as the next guy....our halos sometimes get lazy and are then held up by devil horns. Fortunately, we are safe drivers but we also know that we have to rely on the other wackos on the road doing their due diligence. But living in Florida, we know that is no easy request.

I know a lot of people may judge you for the lack of harness, tags and belt, but look at her smile!!!  She is so happy to be in the car with her favorite family!!!  So I will add my admission, so that you won’t feel alone, Jade rides on my lap in the car.  And Pink does too.  And when they are together, they’ve been known to both be on my lap at once.  It isn’t safe and drives the Hubs crazy, but they are so happy and less stressed on my lap!  You are so good to your kids! PS:  Henry’s look is one that says, put down the camera Mama and drive fast so I can pretend I’m Mario Andretti!

We are really bad parents, we don’t have harnesses or any of that. Trips to the vet are the only times our dogs get in the car. Except for Molly. She gets to ride in the truck sometimes tor short rides around our place.

Luckily for my pups, there isn’t enough room between me and the steering wheel for them to sit on my lap.  They do well, however, sitting on Momma’s lap on the passenger side.

Love Luna’s great big smile-total happiness! Solsie wants on my lap and so does Daisey-this happens on trips to see family/friends. Don’t take casual rides with the girls so please don’t let them hear they should get this just like the lucky pups on this post.Pug hugs from pastor sue & the Colorado 2

Love the photos in the pet store! I guess I’m a irresponsible dog owner…....besides my Pugs I have 2 rescues. One is a poodle-?? and she was thrown out of a pickup truck window a few weeks after giving birth to puppies. She has owned me and the Pugs for 5 years now. Regardless of her being tossed, she still loves to ride in a vehicle. To ease her stress, every morning I put her in the car and I let her “drive” around the block. She gets her car-fix for the day. I love her and wouldn’t part with her for anything!

Hi Jenry and Luna,
I haven’t seen you two in quite some time.  Sweet Little Henry is still a sweetheart and seems to be doing well with his good eye out the window.  Yay for you Henry!!!
And Luna, I, too, love your beautiful smile.  Can’t keep the good little Pugs down.  They are prescious.  Hsve fun riding guus.

I loved reading this and finding out that “even you” can break a rule or two : )

It seems like a wonderful idea to try to go on some little outings with Luna and Henry.  Summer in Florida is a difficult time of year, though.
