Caught in the Rain

Benjamin

This morning, around 6:30 am, I heard the doggie door flap and saw Benny making his way out to the yard to go potty. Little did Benny know, but it was raining. Benny took two steps on the covered lanai, discovered it was raining and immediately turned and came back inside.

Once inside the doggie door, he just stood there. I guess he was weighing his options and hoping that I didn't see him go outside. But, I did, and I wasn't about to let him walk around the house knowing he has to go potty. So, I made him go back outside to go potty. Of course, I had to go out with him, because there was no way he was going to go out in the rain by himself. He begrudgingly obliged and when we came back in I toweled him dry. But he made it clear, that even though he was now dry, it didn't matter because he still got wet this morning. I'm sure he'll be cranky all day because of it.

It was raining as well here - and Dexter looked at me like I had lost my mind - “me go outside - you MUST be joking”.  However he was a good little puggy and promptly ran across the deck, down the steps a quick do of the business and back in he flew.  He was towel dried, hugs and kisses, treats, and snuggles - life was good.

Benny Baby, I am so sorry you got wet!  My Sleighbelle does not mind the rain at all!  She goes out there, sniffs all the grass, walks around, and takes care of business.  I meet her at the door with a towel to dry her off: that is what she takes exception to.  She hates to be toweled off.  She growls and fights me every time!  Silly Pug!!

Oh Precious Benny…my Cole is just like you…You know, golden paws and all.  However, I am happy to report he went trotting right into the rain this morning and got the job done.  I had to do a double take to be sure my eyes weren’t deceiving me.

All’s well though, precious boy…you are now relieved, dry, and cuddling in for a cozy day I’m sure!!

oh my goodness!!  We are getting rain and lots of wind forcasted for later tonight.  Yes, they sure hate to get their paws wet!
Don’t be cranky, Benny… but you do look cute!!

Rain used to be an issue for us, too.  I always had to “stand guard” on our back porch making sure Bennie would actually do his business.  One evening when he braved some hard rain, I gave him a biscuit when he came in.  That night we struck a deal:  when its raining, if he will get out there and go, he gets a treat when he comes in!  He totally understands this—-and so do I!!

Oh, oh…..if looks could kill!  Bam!

I am sorry to have to inform you all of this, but Georgie has a “stash”.  And, I am his enabler.

I discovered this shameful fact as I was straightening up his pillow and blanket next to my chair.  Under the blanket, on top of his pillow lay 20 (I counted) beef marrow bones. I have to admit that I’ve been blantantly bringing them into the house and not paying attention to the amount he has been using, although, I think he’s been lifting from the other Pugs as well.  No one’s talking. I wondered where they all went.  Until we can get him rehabed, the bones stay, but don’t report either him or me.  We’re working on it.

Pug hugs,

But Benny, you are now dry and toasty, plus YOU NO LONGER HAVE TO POTTY.  Isn’t that a relief? Smooches to those wrinkes.

Huckle you come up with the funniest stories.  How is the Rescue Remedy working?

This will probably be the last time until this evening I can get on the computer.  I am switching services and it can take up to 4 hours.  I am already having OBP withdrawal.

Oh Benny~pottying in the rain doesn’t sound like fun. I don’t blame you. But you’re nice and dry now. Snuggle in pug! It’s cold and windy here but sunny. Pip just saunters through the yard. He doesn’t care.

We are dog sitting our friend’s ‘weeny’ dog again and she is a sweet heart. She minds the wind though but she gets the job done!

Darci~how are you doing? Been thinking of you.

Sue~how are you and Abby? Please let us know.

P.S.  One of the first things I am going to do when my new service is up and running is give OBP my new email address.  Can’t miss my OBP any longer than possible.

bennie’s story reminds me of my Toby.  We usually walk early in the am but it was raining in Florida.  When I go out on the back porch, Toby goes through his doggy door to see what i am doing.  Much to his surprise, it was raining.  he knew what he had to do and did it.  he got toweled off.  Poor Tioby got wet.

Well, no new service today.  My line is too old to accomodate the new service.  The techs could install a new line, but they don’t bury it, and it could be 1 week to 1 month before it could be buried, so I am going to reschedule when the two can work together on the same page. I will have too many leaves that will need to be cleaned up and a line on top of the ground will interfere, because the leaves will be thick…about 50 leaf bags full.  Yay, I can still keep up with OBP.

Sue, thanks for the update.  I think we were anxious to hear from you.  Sounds like Abby is doing ok.  I know you and her have a lot of hard work ahead, but I think you are taking it in good stride.  I will continue to pray for her complete recovery.  Hugs from Romeo and me.

Sue, oh my goodness, I think I somehow missed that Abby was already scheduled for, and had!, her surgery…I don’t know how that happened!  Well, I have been praying for her every day anyway so I am thrilled to hear that surgery is *behind* her!  I bet she looked darlin’ in her scarf and I’m sure she’ll get used to her PT in no time.  I’m excited for your recovery and healing Miss Abby!!  Kiss to you…

Huckle, your story today has me laughing and laughing…Love it!  That is one “stash”...perhaps even a “hoard” (don’t get me started…do you all watch that show?!?!?)...Georgie, I admire your ability to stash and not gorge!  Hope Cooper isn’t being too much of a pooper…LOL

Poor Benny…tell Mom they have wee wee pads for emergencies!!! Rain is one!! Glad it is over pretty boy.

We have SUNLIGHT and cool weather today!!! Girls laying inside by the sunfilled door.
GiGi feels the rain in the air and will not leave her bed. She has even been known to hide under my bed at the first sound of rain.

Sue - I am so relieved to hear your report on Abby.  Has she already started her walks, and how did that go.  Is she favoring that leg a lot more than she was?  I wonder if you could put her in a tub of warm water and do some exercises there?  Just a thought.

You will do a fine job even if it isn’t popular with Abby.  I am so glad to hear your upbeat attitude. I was worried about your being worried. That move forward attitude will help her (and you) so much.  We are all here for you, especially if you get discouraged.  It’s going to be a long road for both of you but you sound in charge.

Hellen - have you received GiGi’s forgiveness yet?  Is your chair a power chair?  Maybe you could race her!  If I’m not being too nosey, how long have you had to have “wheels”?

Heather - since you asked….my husband is going to take Cooper to his vet (we have different vets) as soon as he can make an appointment.  What I cleaned up last night on the lineoleum (thank heavens) was like very slimey water.  I was ready to gag trying.  I have given him some pumpkin, but had changed their food last Friday (same company, different taste) so that might be part of it.  He’s hungry all the time and is finished with his tapeworm med.  Is that because the tapeworm still lives or is it just his adolescence.  He remains an unbelieveably BAD dog!

I have never had a pug that liked to potty in the rain!! LOL They give you that look that says, “It’s not raining in YOUR potty!!”  I have to make sure everyone gets off the deck to potty but I think Gracie justs runs under the deck where I can’t see, counts to 10 and runs back up the stairs like she has gone. HaHa - where would we get our entertainment if we didn’t have pugs!!

GiGi must have forgiven me…she is laying under my table now while I am checking out the computer. She normally gets out of the way when I toot the horn on this thing!!

I have been in one chair or the other since 2006. Can know longer walk at all. Thank goodness with Medicare they are free.

I started knitting Santa Suits this morning!!! Don’t ask..you would never believe it!!!

Guess being 70 plus working bad on the memorie…Thought today was FRIDAY ntil a few mintues ago!!

Oh Benny!  I feel your pain, I don’t like to go out in the rain either.  Neither do my pugs smile  Hang in there handsome Benny!

Sue~thanks for the update. How are the walks and the pt going? Sounds like a lot of work but I’m sure you can do it! Still sending prayers your way!

Huckle~Georgie has a stash! That is hilarious! Years ago when my Mom was alive, she had a yorkie named Rosie that had a huge stash of raw hide! (She was a rescue and didn’t get much from her previous family.) Dogs are so funny!

Hellen~I need to ask about Santa Suits. smile And don’t worry, I’m only 39 (no really I am) and I thought it was Friday too! smile

Pooooor Baby Benny, did you get your feathers ruffled this morning????  I hope the crankies went away as well as the rain clouds, and that tomorrow is a sunnier day for you and your brother and sister grin

p.s.  Pug mama finally ordered the new computer last night, so before too long, I will be back to being a regular in OBP land!!!  WooT!!!!  I miss checking in with all of you every day, and keeping up with what everyone is up to.  Miss Abby is hanging in there, we finished the dogsitting nonsense, and unbelievably have been back to the apartment for almost 3 weeks now.  Still coming out to mom’s though, for computer time, til the new one arrives!!!

We welcome you back Pug Mama when your computer is up and running.  I realize now I would be totally lost without my computer, and not being able to check in on OBP would be devastating to me…I am addicted to the computer and OBP.  When I was still working I didn’t like them at all.
