Dummies

Henry

Grammy saw this book at a book store that was closing and got us a copy as a gift.

I love to read books about pugs. Especially books that tell you about the breed and what you should expect as a pug owner. I like to compare the book's advice to my own experiences as being a pug owner.

I came across the tidbit below in the book and it really made me laugh. It is one of those things that is so funny because there is a lot of truth in it.

"Never walk a pug farther than you are willing to carry her. Sometimes she may just sit down on an outing and refuse to go anywhere."

Have a great weekend!

lol..too funny, but how true!!  So True!!
Nana (my Mom) was looking after Mr. Skittles one time, and decided to take him for a walk.  She was very impressed how he could keep up with her and the were scooting right along.  Then she decided to turn around and his breathing got heavy, and he sat down!! They did get home, and she did not carry him.
Pugs for Dummies… good one!
Have a good weekend everyone!  pug hugs to all!

Lucy and Pen's Mommy

Which is precisely why we have a dog stroller! We’d get 7-8 blocks away from the house and Lucy would just plant her but in the middle of the street and look at us like, “Sorry, folks, if we’re going any further someone’s picking me up.” Now I roll the stroller and my husband takes the leashes and when Lucy has had enough we put her in the stroller and keep on going! Pen, on the other hand, just keeps on pulling, ragged breathing or not, always wanting us to go faster and farther!

Lmao! I own that book! And have carried Lilo home on a couple of occasions.  I also liked the part about pugs not being great swimmers.  So glad i had that life jacket on Lilo when she took that header off the bow of the boat! I mean seriously, if they tip over, leaning over to look at stuff when they are landlocked, good chance they are going to sink!

Hehe so true!! My favorite pugism has always been that they are like having a perpetual 2 year old!! They know how to get what they want!! For example: my veterinarian daughter takes her to work with her every day. Zorro has decided his new favorite sleeping place in on a shelf with the bagged pet food. He now has a blanket there for his added comfort!!
Have a blessed weekend all!!

How do you get them to pose Corrine?!!! I love it!

That is how Pip rolls! My husband has carried him on long distances! I have a picture or two from behind of my husband lugging Pip!

Right after my first baby was born (5 years ago!) we were taking a walk around the block. I was pushing a stroller and walking Pip and he decided to sit down. Well I couldn’t carry him and push a stroller so I chucked him in the bottom of the stroller (where you keep your diaper bag etc) and turned around and went home. It was dragging on the ground. I can just imagine what the people in the house that we stopped in front of thought about that.

Have a great weekend everyone! Pug Hugs to all from Gina & Pip!

Henry’s expression seems to say “you may want to take a good look at this”. I don’t recall ever having to carry a pug home, but then that has been 48 years, so it is quite possible.

Grammy has good reading taste.

Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend.

My Ellie did this to me once as a puppy, Lola was prancing along a step in front of her and Ellie plopped down and wouldn’t move.  So I was carrying her while Lola pranced and she just watched people as we finished our walk in the park.

I believe I have this book in my pug book collection as well. I got it when I brought Lola home and it promptly was put away because she was nothing like the book and has always been quite unique as far as I can tell in most areas of pug life.

You guys have the funniest stories.  My pugs have yet to do this, but with Cooper1 there were several occasions I had to get him and my husband by car on their long walks. Cooper1 also stopped and wouldn’t go. My husband couldn’t carry a 70# Boxer a mile or so so I had to drive off after them.

Ah ha Amelia, there is another pug book collector out there (and I bet there’s one than that).  Books and greeting cards.  Snatch them up the minute I see one.
