Happy Halloween

Benjamin, Henry & Luna

Happy Halloween from the Scrabble Pugs! We love scrabble and play it regularly and since each one of the pugs' names are valid Scrabble words* we couldn't resist dressing the pugs up as Scrabble boards and adding their names as Scrabble letters.

So we pitched our idea to Grammy and she whipped up these awesome costumes for the pugs.

Happy Halloween!

* Benjamin is not a valid Scrabble word, but Benny is.

Very cute and inventive.  Thanks Grammy.

My costume is a shirt that has a pug in a devil’s costume and the saying is “angel, in disguise”.  But we all know, there is no such thing as a devil pug!!

I hope everyone gets lots of treats and no tricks today.

So inivative, and what a job well done Grammy.  They look adorable.

Praying for all the OBPers in the northeast, as well as everyone else affected by this snow storm, and if they are without power, that it be restored soon.

Romeo attempted to go as a basketball player at the Pug Meetup Sunday.  I exchanged his L costume for an XL, and guess what, it still didn’t fit.  So we took him out of it and draped it over him.  In less than 5 minutes the basketball became detached and the arms were flopping around, so off it dame. One petite black pug came as a zebra with mane, ears and all. If there had been a contest, she would have won hands down.

A time of year I always look forward to; OBP Halloween!  Corrine, you, Grammy, and the gang certainly never disappoint…how adorable are they!?!?!  Loving the photos and the personalities just busting from the page.  I’d like to play on all 3 of your boards, hehehehe!

Sue VDB, oh my your story of Romeo is too cute.  He’s just too big of a star for silly ol’ costumes.  Now I’m thinking of another idea…the Hulk with big muscles busting out of his shirt, hehehehe.  We still love ya Romeo!

Happy Pugoweeeeeen to all!!!  Lots of love from us.

They all look like Master Players!
Our trick and treaters don’t come out until tonite.  We ALWAYS go out on Beggers’ Night and it even fell on a weekend - but THIS YEAR they decide to wait until the 31st and a Monday night.  It’s so much harder for working parents.  I really don’t get this town I live in.
Was totally unaware of snow storms in the NE.  NO ONE needs snow for Halloween.  Wishes for warmth and quick thaws for everyone affected.  Everyone should have the Fall we’ve been enjoying - brisk mornings, warm mid-days and gorgeous colors!  (Iowa came through for once.)

They are all adorable!! I love it. I noticed Henry’s wrinkles around his neck in the first picture. And I would like to say that I would love to smooch and smoosh his wrinkles!

Prayers for those affected by the snowstorm. Not ready for that just yet.

If I could, I would like to ask for prayers for Pip. We think he had a stomach bug this weekend. It started Friday when he vomitting and had diarhea (sp?). Then he wouldn’t eat and when Pip doesn’t eat, something is wrong. Hasn’t vomitted since Sat night and is hungry now but I’ve noticed that he is having very small issues with his back legs. I’m not sure if I should take him in to the vet or wait to see if he gets better. Just the same, if you had an extra prayer, please send it up for Pip.

Oh!!! I forgot to mention that I won the black pug basket from Pug-O-Ween and one of the gifts is a sign that says “Love is….being owned by a pug.”  I thought of you all instantly!!!!

Pug Hugs to all from Gina & Pip

GINA;  Hope King Kong Pip continues to improve - but the leg-thing might worry me.  Could he have gotten into something at the Pug-o-Ween festivities?  It’s sort of reminiscent of children and checking their trick or treat bags for “bad” candy.  I’ll have the Pipster in my thoughts and prayers, for sure.  Keep us posted.

Gina, please take Pip to the vet immediately…don’t wait.  I pray for you and Pip.

Oh Romeo, you must be a large puggie like our daughter’s Bubba Gizmo-he is one BIG pug-just a Hugh love and marshmallow-he could be a moon pie! Hope all have a safe and happy Halloween! P.s. it just ain’t Halloween in Colorado without snow!! Pug hugs from the Colorado 4

What a treat for this mornings laughter.  Really creative.

Gina, I agree with all the others about taking Pip to the vet. Then you don’t have to worry and if he needs meds he can get them quickly. And I think that back leg thing needs looked into, just to be safe. Just a thought. Let us know the outcome as we all will be waiting for the report. And, of course, prayers for Pip.  Congrats on the win.  Did you take pictures?

Pat, did the snowstorm come up as far north as you?  I assume Elizabeth’s electricity is off since she hasn’t posted today.  Crazy weather.

Gina, praying for a good outcome.  Glad he is going to the vet. Will be waiting to hear back.

Also, congratulations on the win.

Ok, let me just say LOVE the costumes.  Grammy rocks!  And from one Scrabble junkie to the next, just as a BTW, Sol is also a “good” word in Scrabble.  You have a whole family of pugs that would bring some high point values.  And good one with the triple word score (on so many levels!), Jennifer used to be Davis!  Nice!  smile

Hello everyone! Thanks again for the advice and prayers! Just got back from the vet and Pip is ok. The vomitting etc was due to a bug or something of the sort. Since he hasn’t vomitted since Sat eve, the vet wasn’t too concerned about that.

When we got there, Pip started limping! He wasn’t putting pressure on his right front leg. Sheesh. Talk about perfect timing. smile  The Doc said he must’ve strained that muscle by jumping off of something. Did you guys know that dog’s front legs are not connected to their shoulders by bones? They don’t have a collar bone. It is connected by muscle and tissue only. Very interesting. That is why it is a lot easier for them to injure themselves that way.

And his back legs are a result from his weight which is caused by the meds he is on. He is taking Temaril-P once a day Mon-Fri for his allergies. We are trying to ween him off of those though. The good news is that he lost 4 pounds!!!! Probably from vomitting and then not eating as much the last two weeks b/c we had our weenie dog house guest Susie dog! The vet says if we can keep him at this weight or even lose one more pound, it would help his legs!

Then…..He always has a lot of eye goop or “boggies” as we call them and it’s the gray rope type stuff. I have also noticed that he has a pigmentation or different colored coloring (nice english right?!) on his eyes. Well, his eyes aren’t producing enough tears! So his body is compensating that by producing the mucus-ie eye boggies! So he has to have eye drops for that! Sheesh!!!!

We’re going to get him back to normal here soon! He got a pain shot and then he gave me free pain med samples to give him for his shoulder and the eye drops are on back order and he will call me when that comes in.

So thank you everyone for encouraging me to take him. Thank you for the prayers too!

Hugs to you all!!! I love my OBP family!!!

Gina, thank you so much for the update on Pip.  Yay for the weight loss!!!  I’m so glad you took him to the vet, so that now he can begin healing.  Pip knew what he was doing when he began limping at the vet’s office…these puggers are so smart.  Sorry he has to have eye drops, but they may help a lot.

Hugs to you and that precious boy.

What great costumes Grammy created for the gang. They all model them so nicely. We didn’t get to Howl-o-ween or Pug-o-we’en either :( truck troubles.  Instead am loving the pictures the group took in Saskatoon yesterday. Just so hard to get there when it’s 2 1/2hrs away.

So sorry to hear that Pip is under the weather. Thoughts and prayers with you and all others in need. Thanx for the info about no collarbone, I never thought about it before.

We are celebrating Hallowe’en without snow here in southern Saskatchewan, which is a rare happening! Hope everyone affected by the storms has there power back and is safe and warm. Happy Hallowe’en everyone!

Again, thank you everyone and Sue VDB and LiloNme. Such a great group of people here. You know you’re a big part of my life b/c when I was driving home from the vet, all I could think of was telling everyone here!

Corrine, thank you for sharing your pugs and for providing this for us all to chat and support one another!

Hugs again to everyone!!!

Sue VDB, just realized I hadn’t commented on Romeo’s silliness with the costume.  I can just picture his costume disengaging by parts.  The zebra costume of that black pug sounded really nifty.

Gina, I can imagine how glad you are that you took Pip in to the vet.  No, I didn’t know that about the front legs. in fact never thought much about it but boy is that interesting.  Sounds like a Jeopardy question.  So glad that Pip is on the mend.

Abby has the dry eye syndrome also but her “goop” is brown. I have yet to figure out why they call it “dry eye” when there is such goop involved. She has to have eye drops twice a day and she isn’t a willing participant in that.  Hopefully Pip is a better recipient.

Thanks Huckle!!! That is so nice of you. He handles things very well. I love your comment about the shoulder being a jeopardy question. Very funny. smile

Love this years costumes! Very cute.

Too bad I remember the year they dressed up as Benny & the Jets, and now have that song screaming in my head wink
