Hoping

Benjamin, Henry and Luna

I think the pugs are in need of a beach day. I would love to get to the beach this weekend with the pugs, but I'm not sure if it is in the cards. The weekend is already getting pretty full and it is so hot. But, you never know.

I hope you get to do whatever your wishing for this weekend!

I’m with you Sleighbelle.  How can we work it so that we can all go - now wouldn’t that be a party!?  When I first saw this picture in the receding sun, I thought it was a snow scene!  Now that’s a thought.

Sue VDB…how are things going this a.m.?  We are all so anxious, none so much more than you, however, all we can do is ask and pray.

Here’s a smile moment.  You know how childish 65+ people can be…it seems that my husband and I are fighting over a trash sack full of dog poop!  Huh?  He did go around and get the dog poop out of the yard, granted.  However, the sack made it no further than the chair I sit in on the patio.  I hadn’t realized it and opened the sack to see what it was.  Ewwwwwww!  He wisely walked back into the house when he caught the look on my face.

Have a great, cool weekend kids and enjoy the pugs.

Huckle &
the Swamp Pugs,
and Cooper (you’re his biggest fan Karen and he appreciates it)

The name of the game this weekend is “keep cool”.  Heat advisory in KC from now through next weekend.  I’ve had two scheduled appointments to have my ac maintenance check and both have been cancelled because of people calling in with NO ac….ugh.  I do appreciate the fact that they are taking care of these people first.  I know I have the right company.  Had another power outage this morning, but the power company came right out, so it was only off for about 45 minutes.  Another squirrel bit the dust.

I couldn’t believe it.  For the first time in several months Romeo jumped up on the couch two different times last night…woohoo.  I can’t tell you how happy that made me.  Don’t know if I will get any results from this last test.  It may be tomorrow, but if I don’t hear from them by 10am tomorrow, I will call them. When I find out something, I will let you know.

All you can do is pray and give positive thoughts - that is the very best thing you can do, and again, I am so thankful for each and every one of you.

Romeo, even though he doesn’t like a lot of kisses and hugs, wants you to know he is giving them out right now.  I want to wrap my arms around all of you.

So much going on with everyone!

First, I’m with Sleighbelle—take me too!

Sue VDB, I’m keeping you and Romeo in my thoughts!

And oh Huckle…...I’m sure hubby just forgot….well, pretty sure anyway!  Just be on alert for future mystery bags.  And he might be wise to be on alert too!!

Heather

07/15/2011

Huckle, we can always count on you for our laughs…Hubby better run with his poop bag, LMAO!  Cooper, we all love ya buddy *giggle*

Sue VDB, know that we are all surrounding you and Romeo in our virtual arms holding you close while we ALL wait anxiously.  I LOVE that Romeo jumped up on the couch…You do know that is him telling you, “momma, I am going to be just fine!”, don’t you?!  YAY ROMEO…Kisses for you sweet boy!

Huck, at least the poop bag wasn’t in your fave chair in the house!!  LMAO also!  And yes, ya gotta love Cooper…I remember an old saying (if 30 years ago is indeed an old saying) that “children need love, especially when they don’t deserve it”...I’ve always remembered that and I think it should apply to furry children too!

Love to all from Karen B., C.J. and Toeby in “cooler than normal” central California!  Have a fabulous weekend everyone and the beach sounds great to me!

I bet the gang would love another trip to the beach. They sure look like they are having fun in the pic. Sue. I do hope Romeo is much better this am. Know you were thrilled when he jumped up on the couch with you.
Maybe they will get your a/c fixed today. We are in the middle of a “mini” heat wave says our weather person. I think it is more than that when the low temp in the am’s is 85. Of course, I am getting old and cranky by now.
And really, Huckle, I amm a fan of Cooper also. We share a name, how could I not love that big adorable Boxer??? How could anyone not love someone with the name Cooper? I think you got some splaining to do. LOL

Sue VDB, I’m doing the “Georgie dance” for you and Romeo.  After the week you’ve had, I can only imagine how pumped full of adrenalin you are.  Could it be a luxating patela keeping him from jumping on the couch and maybe they have just snapped back in to place?  Of course, that doesn’t address the rest of his symptoms and maybe he has more than just one explainations for his health..

Brenda, “awwwwwwwww Rickey”  it’s much better when you can hear Lucy’s voice saying it.  Perhaps the heat is nation wise?  Our forecasts for the coming week is in the 90s.  Certainly couldn’t have pugs if no A.C.

Thank y’all for the poop bag comments.  My revenge will be to get some large mushrooms, cook them, and then put him under his side of the bed and wait for them to “season”. He despises the smell of mushrooms, so I never can cook with them.  This time I’ll make an exception!

What a wonderful picture of Benny, Henry and Looney Tunes frolicking on the beach - wish I were there with them.  Happy weekend to all; try to stay cool, everyone!  Prayers and positive thoughts going out to Sue VDB and Romeo.

Wow, former pug owner…pugs are not the only breed that suffers abnormalities so I hope you are spreading out your cheerful message to other breed sites.

I have even heard pugs called abominations due to their stubby noses but to those of us that love them, we try to make their lives as comfy as possible and love them to their very core.  I am sorry you had bad experiences with your pugs.

Sue VDB

07/18/2011

Former Pug Owner, all breeds have their special tendencies to health problems.  If you had two pugs from a “recognized breeder” I would hesitate to call that a “recognized breeder”.  Perhaps one of them was a puppy miller.  I have had pugs since 1963 and all except one lived to be 14-15-16 years.without, serious problems during their life. Sorry you had such a bad experience, but pugs are not the result of cruelty. That would also mean that because other dogs are predispoed to certain health problems, they also are a result of cruelty. Sorry, you may be a medical doctor with a PhD in Genetics, but that does not mean you are a pug expert, and doctors are not always right.

Ya know kids, there are people in this world who, in some twisted way, find the worst in other’s joy - ours being the pugs.  This person, whoever she thinks she is, is not a normal person.  I find it reprehensible that she was able to spread her mean-spirited message.  We are a group that support one another and take such joy in our pugs.  Therefore, I can only assume that she is an extremey unhappy person.  Her message added nothing.  Luckily she cannot destroy our spirits because of our support and love for one another and our blessed pugs. I am enraged and not the only one to know that people like this exist in the world.  The best we can do is to not give her poison a chance to spread and ignore this completely.

Grannygoogs, I think we need your foul-mouthed parrot here!

Pug love to all of us OBPers.

You’re right Huckle. I had to resist the urge to comment back but I don’t blame Karen or Sue for doing so. I can’t resist saying this though: for someone who is a doctor and has a PhD in genetics, his/her typing skills and or english skills are lacking….done. Thats all I will say.

We know what she/he said is not correct so lets just continue to love and support each other and our puggers!!!

Pug Hugs to everyone from Gina & Pip

Former pug owner I don’t know why you would even write something like this we are all pug lovers and I have owned pugs for over 20 years one lived to be 16 and a half one was almost 15 all dog breeds have health issues not just the pugs

Sorry about that comment guys….

Sue VDB

07/18/2011

Corrine, you have nothing to apologize for.  Guess I was just surprised to see that comment.  I don’t normally respond to those types of things, but I didn’t think it was fair to subject OBP friends to that sort of ****

Corrine, not your fault…I guess some people just can’t help but to try and spew their garbage and bring down others…

Huckle

Corrine, please don’t feel responsible for that comment getting through.  None of us fault you and you bring so much joy into our lives through this blog, your outstanding photography and great comments that you - and the rest of us - should put this tripe out of our minds.  You are the greatest!
