In memory of Milo

Milo

Pug lover Danielle wrote in and asked if I would post some of the adorable photos of her precious Milo.  Milo got sick with cancer and after the cancer spread to his liver and lungs Danielle had to make the painful decision to send him to the Rainbow Bridge to keep him from suffering.

Milo was a true people pug and he won over the hearts of everyone he met including those non-dog loving people.

Danielle, please know that our thoughts are with you.

Danielle,
I’m so sorry about Milo.  Losing a beloved dog is such a painful consequence of the many years of love that we are privledged to have with them.  Please know that caring thoughts are with you.

Danielle,
I know that this is a pug lovers worst nightmare.  I am so sorry for your loss.  I hope you can get comfort from all your wonderful memories of Milo and also in the knowledge that he had a terrific, happy life with you.  He’s your guardian pug now.

Thanks so much to those of you who have posted comments so far on the loss of my baby, Milo.  It helps for me to read these and know how much you all care and how special these little doggies are to us.  He’ll always be in my heart even if he can’t physically be with me.

Oh poor Milo, I feel for you Danielle, he looks just like my Shadow that I just got finished yelling at for his incessant licking of ears, now I feel so guilty.
Hang in there, you give them love and get back so much.

Danielle

Because we attend only occasionally, Robert and I believe we met you and Milo only once, maybe close to a year ago, but you both left a lasting and sweet impression. We are saddened and touched by your loss and will be bringing our pugs tomorrow. We do you hope you can make it as we remember our black pug Jackson befriending you and Milo that day. They shared a lot of physical traits. Jackson, and maybe even his sister Pearl, will be glad to offer comfort (and pug kisses?) to you Saturday morning.

Danielle, the following excerpt from The Once Again Prince by Irving Townsend, helped to get me through the loss of my first dog & pug, Ricky; it goes like this:

“We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept it’s awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan.”

Take care of yourself, allow yourself to feel all the different emotions that grief provokes. And remember, time heals all wounds.

Sincerely,
Kerry

My wife and I lost our Pug, Buster, in November. He was a loving and joyful part our family and our selves. For almost 14 years he was with us and improved our every day. We never thought a dog could make such a difference in our lives- but he did!
We are still in mourning and miss him terribly- so send our sincerest condolences and wish you well.

Danielle:
My deepest sympathy to you.
I am owned by a 10 year old and I know that this day too will come for me much sooner than I would want.
May all the wonderful memories you shared together lift your heart and wipe your tears.

With pug hugs,
Danine

Danielle,
I am sad for you in the loss of your precious Milo.  I observed the love you had for your pug from some of the stories you have shared with me while working at Donnelley, and from the first time I had an opportunity to meet Milo.

He was a beautiful dog.  Even near the end of his time he still was able to respond to me.  I will always remember his happy moment when I met him.

Hang in there Danielle, it takes time but it will get easier - keep focusing on the beautiful memories instead of your loss.

No park trail unwalked..or in Milo’s case un-carried,
No car zoomed by without one good bark,
Ears flapping and eyes wet Milo would always catch his prey,
We know not who had more fear at seeing Milo coming,
A plush animal or a car….

Feeding ball a rolling,
Milo nudging it along
Is how I will remember him,
And the bites on the arm!

Danielle – may you find comfort in the days to follow knowing that the sun on your neck may be Milo looking out after you…and he spends his days chasing cars all day with no leash, no pain, and gets to molest toy monkeys whenever he wishes!
