Keep an Ear Out
Benny takes things very literally. Plus, I think this is how he never misses when anyone steps a foot into the kitchen.
Have a great weekend!

The law of physics does not declare that Benny’s ear would flop open as he slept. Corrine - did you do this? (BTW, I really don’t know anything about physics obviously.
Pug hugs &
Huckle chuckles
I think Benny is resting up for when G’Ma comes but also staying close enough to the kitchen just in case theres a treat or two have a great weekend everyone Enjoy
Benny doesn’t miss a trick!
You are not alone Benny…GiGi sleeps with one ear UP. When she gets really upsets or wants something and I donot understand…she jumps up and down with ALL feet off the floor and both ears up while she screams her head off!!!
In our area the kids do not go door-to-door because the hourses in all the communities are far apart. People take their cars to the school parking lots with thier trunks up and the kiddies have a great time gettin treats while the adults enjoy seeing neighbors they donot get to see often. Safe for the little ones.
Hellen, your Gigi is quite a little pistol, besides being cute.
Genevieve’s ears do that, too. Always makes me laugh.
Tomorrow Oct. 9th is a very important day in our household, we will pick up Sir Luke !!!! We are so excited. I sure hope he doesn’t mind living in the country, he has been in Dallas for a while. Maybe he is a country pug at heart. He will definitely be a much loved little baby. I will let you know how things turn out. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
GiGi gets really mad when you laugh!! I just laugh harder.
Sir Luke will love the country. We live way out now and had to train Gwen to stay in her yard. NOT EASY, but it worked. When GiGi came, as afraid as I am of going down the ramp in a power chair with no one home, I DID. Many times in one day. She goes out like a champ and has never gone out of the yard unless on a leash.
I’ve been thinking about this picture for awhile. And I started to wonder if Benny is making a statement about French Bulldogs. Perhaps he’s saying, “they don’t have anything I don’t. I can make my ears do that, too.”
You’re right Benny! You puggies ROCK!
Brenda, I just was at dfwpugs.com and stopped to look at your Sir Luke! And I’m sure he’ll love being a country dog! Have a Happy Gotcha Day!!
Brenda, I am excited for you and Sir Luke. Happy “gotcha day” to Sir Luke. Post as soon as you can.
Brenda, I saw a picture of Sir Luke on the DFW Pug Rescue website. What a handsome boy you are getting. I’m sure he will LOVE the country.
When C.J. does that with his ears, I call it his “Frenchie” impression. Too cute!
Awesome weekend to ALL! Pug slurps and hugs…
Hellen - I can certainly picture that (so-O funny) and have seen Abby levitate when barking, too. Those little things are quite fearsome when something catches their eyes outside.
Grannygoogs Other than the patio lights, Cooper’s been semi-ok. He did get in the kitty pool and then a sack of dirt and you all should see the carpet NOW. Plus the remaining solar lights are still in tack - as of this minute.
Hey kids. you have a good weekend and nice weather.
Those of you who have more than 2 Pugs (or dogs), how do you handle the petting business? I am always one hand and one arm short, so I try to pet two with the same arm and the other Pug with the other. They all want pettings or belly rubs at once. I feel like I have a kindergarten in front of me.
Brenda, you must be so excited. (I feel your karma) Sleighbelle is right, the country is the place to be.
Abby’s ear flops up in exactly the same way, when she is sleeping on her side, and I have no part of it, girl scouts honor!!
Abby’s minion Tessa, who is half Cairn terror and half poodle has one ear always up (from her mommy the cairn), and the other ear always down (from her daddy the poodle)-LOL!!!!
Brenda I just saw Sir Luke on the DFW site and he is so beautiful! What a tragedy for the owners who had to give him up, but how fortunate for you! It sounds like he is such a sweetie. Have a great time tomorrow on his gotcha day!
Oh My, Brenda, what a handsome boy Sir Luke is!!!! I also just went to the DFW site to scout out his picture. What a studmuffin!!!! Abby says “ooo-la-la!!”
Abby health saga, chapter infinity: wrinkle stinkage scum collection. came on QUICK. That’s what I get for having to pay attention to 5 animals instead of just my precious Abby! The balmy indian summer we are having in the midwest prolly hasn’t helped. I’ve gotten out the meds, hope they bring it under control so we can avoid another trip to the vet. Touchy touchy pug, prolly doesn’t help with all the steroids she has taken in the recent past, infections are just fighting to break out wherever they can….I love my little furry pond scum with the curly tail
My poor Abby has allergy breakout or something, she has red, raw swollen skin, not just in the wrinkle crease, but also from licking her paws they’re icky too now, and also above her butt. I gave her her little dose of benedryl like she’s had in the past, and I’ve been treating the wrinkle and above her butt with her skin cleanser, where she at least can’t lick, but I guess, tomorrow, it is off to the vet we go. Again….. :-( I feel like I am doing something wrong, why does my baby girl have to keep having problems?????
Pug Mama, I am so sorry to hear about your Abby. Both of you are miserable I know. I pray that the vet can alleviate her problems and get her back on the road to recovery. Please let us know what the vet says after you have taken her in. (((((Abby/Pug Mama)))))
Oh, pug mama, how frustrating! Abby Zabba, snap out of it! I’m sure she would if she could! I bet it’s the steroids, those are nasty to have to take! I know steroids have huge benefits but they also have a LOT of side effects. I’m gonna be taking Toeby to the vet also cuz he has “crusty” spots on his skin and on the little “moles” on his face…Don’t know what that could be…
Karen B, let us know how Toeby is after you take him to the vet.
Our puggies have sure been through the wringer lately with one thing or another.
Romeo currently has the sneezes and sniffles and because he is getting older and I had Bo Peep start out with the same thing that turned into pneumonia and eventually got her, I took him to the vet Thursday. My regular vet was in surgery, but an associate couldn’t find any fever or congestion, thinks it’s either a puggy cold or allergies, and Romeo has problems with allergies too. As much as I totally hate winter, for his sake I am looking for a hard freeze to help him.
All OBP puggies and others, get well soon.
Pug Momma I feel so bad for you with Abby and her allergies now seems like the poor baby she has had to go through so much hopefully the vet can give you something for relief for her my Emma had allergies really bad she was broke out every where so many raw spots and she went on two meds and it helped so much I hope the vet can help you and Abby hope all the sick little puggys are feeling better real soon I know what we go through when our babies are not feeling well
Karen - could Toeby be a victim of Pug acne? I’ve heard of it but don’t know how it actually looks.
Yes, this does seem to be a spurt of Pug health issues. This is going to take a few extra prayers. High number of Abbys, too.
Early on, Abby had these little fleshy bumps near her mouth but that was awhile ago and eventually cleared up. Could yours be similar?
Pug Mama - don’t feel guilty. You aren’t causing anything. Could it be from her breeding, perhaps? Just keep loving her like you do, as well as your taking such good care of her. You will both be okay, I can feel it.
My lil girl Abby went to the vet this morning. I posted about it in the “butts” post today, since it sorta fit the topic, seeing as how the biggest concern was her sore bum, which turned out to be a non-infectious hot-spot! She’ll be ok, we’re applying cornstarch and keeping the other dogs from bothering it (we’re still housesitting and dogsitting for 2 doggies til saturday-I think my near 13 yr old Abby has had it with the youngsters!!!). I’ll also be giving her the sedative here and there if she seems bothered and prone to rubbing herself more.
As far as the acne concerns, my Abby has never had it, but growing up, the cats we had would get chin acne, and when we quit feeding them in plastic dishes, it went away. So basically, their dishes were changed to either metal or ceramic, and washed on a near daily basis in hot, hot soapy water, and that seemed to kill the buggers that caused the acne-because the plastic was porous and allowed bacteria to set up camp and infect their chins.
Prayers goin up for all these pugs keeping the veterinarians in business:-) Prayers goin up for all the pug moms and dads that we don’t go bankrupt!!!
The acne thing is very interesting, particularly the plastic bowl part…Hadn’t considered that! Toeby is in the vet’s office as we “speak” with Daddy. They’re both getting nail trims too, thank goodness. Will let you know what happens. Glad Abby is getting taken care of…Should be good as new soon!

Oh my, that could be Romeo, except he does this standing up. Because he has big ears, people have asked me if he is 100% pug. His bat like ears up makes people laugh, and he is at the point, if you ask him to put his bat ears up he will do it.
Benny knows exactly what he is doing…he is not going to miss out on a thing.
People, pugs and Cupid, have a great weekend with G-Ma.
And the rest of the OBP fans, enjoy.
