Nosy

Henry

I have never met a dog that has so much interest in what others are doing as Henry does. I think it is safe to say that he would win the award for nosiest pug hands down. It is not uncommon for him to just stop and stare at people while we are out on our walks. He will be walking along, see something that catches his interest and stop dead in his tracks. He always takes a couple of good sniffs in the air to pick up any scents and then he just watches. He isn't shy about it and he doesn't try to pretend like he isn't watching. Instead, he stares people down with a look on his face that say, "Watcha' doing?"

The funny part is, that most of the time, the people he is staring at aren't doing anything too terribly interesting. They might be cutting their grass, walking to their car or watering flowers. Nothing that he hasn't seen before.

Anyone else out there have a nosy pug?

Riley is just as nosy….but sometimes he throws rude in too as he barks at the people he is staring down.

Mr. Skittles is nosey too!  Any noise he hears, he has to stop, look around, sniff….
Things seem to tak so much longer some days!!

No nosy boys here, but I think Henry is one observant pug!

Beauty has the curosity bug,too-must be a pug thing! When she hears a sound off she goes to the nearest window to see what’s going on! This also happens on the tv-if she sees an animal, especially a dog, she is right there watching! And if the tv door bell rings or a door knocks-she heads straight to the front door!PUGS- We LOVE EM!!

Our Daphne is the neighborhood snoop:  when the weather’s nice and the windows are open, she stations herself on Mom’s pillows by the bedroom window, Queen of the Neighborhood, acknowledging each passer-by.  Our across-the-street neighbor barks right back!

My Zoe is the same way! She will even stop and stare at people that are simply driving by in their cars and honestly probably not even paying her any mind. It’s quite humorous because the way she stops and looks at them is like maybe she knows them???

I thought it was just me that has nosy Pugs!  My last Pug, Milo (oh how I miss him), was extremely nosy and would do exactly the same thing as Henry.  People would think I was staring at them and I’d have to tell them, it isn’t me, it is my Pug!  Now, my new Pug, CoCo is starting to do the same thing!  It must be a Pug trait.  You have to admit it is comical even though sometimes it is embarassing!

Mama calls me a Snoopy Snoop when we go for walkies! I’m nosey about everything, too.

Sleighbelle

Sleighbelle is all about the nosiness!  Do you remember on “Bewitched”, the nosy neighbor, Mrs. Cravtz?  Yep, that is Sleighbelle!  And it makes her mad when the people she is staring at ignore her!

I love it though that Sleighbelle is a friendly, “hey, how ya doing” kind of dog.  I would hate having a snobby “leave me alone” kind of dog!

I believe pugs have an inate curiousity about their surroundings.  I can no longer take Romeo on walks, but he is very observant about the neighbors when he is in the back yard.  He feels the need to observe and greet.  Just like Beauty when Romeo hears a door bell or knock on TV he goes running to the door, and when my door bell actually rings, he is the first one there and has to be in front of me when the door opens so he can see what is going on.  Pugs are so funny.

Lucas acts the same way when he sees someone on a bicycle. He’ll be trotting along happily when suddenly he’ll freeze, little puggy bug-eyes all agog at the sight of those spinning wheels. Hmmm…I wonder what he’d do if I put him in a bicycle basket and took him for a ride?

Yep, we’ve got a nosy pug, too.  And I’m with Sleighbelle that I love having a “hey, how ya doing” kind of dog!

I must agree that it is a relief that if someone stops to say “Hello” , I know they will be greeted with a friendly tail wag, maybe a lick! and not with snarls!

Gus is super nosy too. If someone walks by when we are on our walk.. he turns around to watch them leave. He has 3 times now jumped on people that were sitting on a bench or sidewalk to lick their face while we were out walking. It was a shock to me to since they were all men and Gus isn’t one to go up to any unknown man on his own. Thankfully they were all really nice about it after I explained about poor Gus being abused by a man and being shy around strangers.

Indy loves to lay in the window and watch people go by.. she will huff at the birds and squirrels too.

Sequoia is nosy just like Henry! She loves to look at people, cars, birds, the wind you name it when we are walking. Its so cute she seems so interested in everything!

Lucy's Mommy

05/27/2009

I’m so relieved that y’alls pugs are nosy too, I thought it was just Lucy. If any of our neighbors’ garage doors are up she will walk halfway up the driveway and check out the inside of their garage! One gentleman happened to be coming out his door as I was trying to coax her along past his house and asked, Well, Lucy, did I pass garage inspection?” Now when we see him he salutes her and calls her “Miss Inspector General”! All of my neighbors know Lucy-in fact, last week when I went to get my mammogram the nurse came out to get me, took one look at me and said, “You’re Lucy’s Mommy!” I don’t remember ever having met her in the neighborhood but apparently Lucy did!

Lucy’s Mommy, what a funny story.  Aren’t pugs grand?

LOL! Yes. Our Angus has one eye that bulges a little more than the other, and we call it his “Bill the Cat” eye look. (From the comic strip) He stops, gets his look, and often will even produce a small “WOOF!” Not enough to scare. Just loud enough that you stop and wonder, did he just bark? smile I love how pugs all have such distinct personalities.

My mom was in town Mother’s Day weekend and said, “Clover is nosy”.  I started to laugh and said I know.  She love people and doesn’t care if they don’t like her back.

She’ll stare down a car coming down the road.  She stops and follows it from one end of the street to the other.  It can be embarrassing sometimes, but still funny!

Oh man, Lucy is always in everyone’s business. We have workers in our house now, and she watches their every move. When we are walking, she will give passersby a greeting bark, and then watch them until they are out of sight. At our apartment, she is constantly parked by the front window, ready to bark at all the other dogs that walk by. I try to explain that those dogs live there too, and they are allowed to walk around, but she doesn’t listen.

Baxter has a place to lay by the upstairs window.  He even notices people a 1/2 block away at the bus stop and Often barks out his approval or disapproval.  On walks he notices everything, as well, only he usually sits down to stare.  I’m expected to just stand there until he is done.  I am a well trained “Mom”.
