Pug Humor

Henry

In the OBP household we spend a lot of time cracking ourselves up. And cracking each other up. One of the things that we started to do when Henry was struggling with getting food and water in him during his chemo time was offering food and drink in unique ways. The one thing that has really stuck beyond his chemo time was how we offer Henry water. We don't tell Henry to take a drink, or ask him does he want some water, we bring him the bowl and we say, "your beverage, sir" or "would you like a beverage?"

We know this sounds totally ridiculous but this is what would get him to drink post chemo. It's almost like he knew that we were trying to make him laugh, then he would at least take a sip or two for us even though he didn't really want to do so. Everyone is probably wondering, why the heck does he need water brought to him? Can't he find his water bowl? Well, like I said, when this started he was really too weak to get up and get anything on his own. And now it is more for when we travel. If we are at a park or in the car where there is no set water bowl. And honestly, at home now being blind he still doesn't always nail finding his water bowl on the first try. So, that is why the "would you like a beverage?" has sort of stuck. You know Henry, he is such a refined young gentleman pug. He doesn't want just a drink of water! He wants a beverage!

When my little guy Spencer was blind and deaf, he also had trouble finding his water bowl or making his way to his favorite big pillow. So he would let out a little bark to request assistance. And when he did, we would jump up and say (for him), “bring me a beverage, sir!” or “carry me to my pillow, sir!” He was such a sweet little gentleman. Just like Henry.

I totally understand!  My girl, Genevieve, won’t go outside to potty until I sing “Here she comes!  Miss America!”.  It’s ridiculous what they make us do!

You don’t “sound totally ridiculous” in the least.  We do what we can to make life easier for our pugs, or we simply spoil them rotten as we are at their beck and call.

Yes, there is humor in all of this, but we who are owned by pugs, are funny anyway.  After all, “owned by pugs” is very true.

Yes, we all are guilty of doing the silliest things to make sure our babies are taken care. Penny, my Genevieve is 13. She is deaf but she can still see pretty well. She has always been a little pistol.

This is a great story.  And I agree with Sue that there is nothing silly in the way we love and care for our furbabies!  But I do think that Henry might enjoy a Bacontini instead of just water!!#HenryHasADrinkingProblem #HenryIsAdorable

It makes sense all this waiting on them hand and foot (paw), after all, pugs were originally royal dogs!

And LOL Penny!

I don’t think your ridiculous at all…if people could hear me talking to our puggies when I’m leaving for work they would think I was a loon!

LOL!  That is too cute! We do a lot of silly stuff for our fur babies what ever they need is the bottom line at our house. They give so much back to us.

I find this totally PUG! We do pamper our beloved fur babies-I carry treats into the living room for Solsie & Daisey-other wise they won’t take the treats. Pretty spoiled. At first Ithought Solsie was no longer pug-a pug refuse treats?!? I just needed to carry it for her! Gotta love those pugs! Pug hugs from pastor sue & the Colorado 2

OBP family, I hope all of these comments made you laugh.  If we are all nuts with what we do, that’s the way it is, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I have to tell Annie Fannie I’m leaving, where I am going, and I no longer tell her how long I will be gone, for I have found in most cases it is longer than I expected.  I simply tell her I will be back as soon as I can.  You know what?  I think she understands all of that.
