Quotes From the Pet Diary

Benjamin, Luna and Henry

A while back, I shared the Pet Care Update Sheet that I had created to keep us in tune with pugs (and Cupid) and what the care taker of the day had to say about the critters that day. Well, I am not sure if I remember mentioning that we made a whole bunch of copies and ended up binding it so that all the pages are in chronological order and altogether like a Pet Diary.

I know that I have shared comments that Auntie M has left about the way the pugs eat or special moments she captured. But I thought I would just take a couple blurbs from random days and give another little shout out to rotating "staff" that tend to the fab 3 pugs and their feline sister QP. Since this is OBP, I only shared commentary about the pugs this go 'round.

About Luna:

  • She ate slowly to torment her brothers.
  • Was very hungry today. Guess those steroids are kicking in.
  • She wanted me to lift her onto the bench in the back yard so that I could give her some lovin's.
  • She pooped twice this afternoon! Holy Moly!

About Benjamin:

  • He was a silly boy; wiggling on his back, showing his tummy! I called him my upside down fruitcake.
  • He was extra clingy today but eventually settled to sleep.
  • OMG! He pooped today more than I do!
  • He stared at me with his big brown eyes. I told him flirting would not get him extra food or treats, though. Sorry pug.

About Henry:

  • He was a perfect gentleman.
  • He just wanted to sunbathe.
  • He was a sleepy head today.
  • I had to take him out three times to poopy today. I finally took a treat with me to bribe him. Of course that worked.

Well, these are just a few highlights! Just wanted to share another public thank you to Auntie M, Grammy and Miss Doreen (she is the occasional care taker whereas Auntie M and Grammy are the standards). But we could not do it without each of them helping us to pull the weight of our household. Thanks again to you all! We love the comments you share, the photos you text and the time, love and energy you put forth in tending to our our pug babies.

I love everything about this post!  I’m so happy you have found such p’awesome ladies to take care of Benjamin, Henry and Luna!

The pet log is such a wonderful idea, and I really enjoyed the comments!  Especially the one about Luna eating slowly to torment her brothers!

Just got a call from my vet’s office.  Jim had an emergency and won’t be in the rest of the day.  Romeo now sees him at 4 pm tomorrow.  Since Romeo is doing well I am not going to fret about it.

Would love to have a pet diary!  That is a great idea!
The comments were hilarious!

C.J. is still limping, does NOT want me to look at his paw, but I keep trying…he actually BIT me the other day so it must really hurt…Thanks all for asking!

Hoping all goes well for Romeo and don’t worry, sounds like he’s on the mend!

I agree, the comments are hilarious. I know how much it must mean for you to have such wonderful surrogates when you are at work. I am playing catch up today… Sue, I’m glad Romeo is doing well and Karen, hope C.J.‘s paw heals quickly. And so good to know Luna could take steroids without major side effects. We are having extremely hot weather here in Texas. The pugs are doing pretty well in spite of it. They seem to sleep all day and are ready to play at bedtime. I was sitting up with Sir Luke at 12 o’clock yesterday am. He just couldn’t seem to get comfy but I have nights like that too.

Brenda, stay cool for Pete’s sake (whoever Pete is…LOL).  I have no idea how you folks in Texas are coping with this weather.  I’m in California and we’ve had a few runs of 100’s that stayed for several days but nothing like what Texas is experiencing…I’ve heard people have even died from the heat!  So like I said, you and the pug stay cool!

Thanks Karen, yes we are having the hottest summer in about 30 yrs. The pugs and I have been staying in as much as possible and looks like we will for another week at least as record highs are predicted until next Wed.

Bennie and I are in north Texas, too.  Everybody who can stay indoors does.  Poor Bennie thinks I must have lost his leash or something.  He misses his walks so much, but when the day’s low is 86 degrees, there’s nothing to do but keep him inside.  And me, too.

I haven’t been feeling well—shingles—so Bennie and I have spent most of our time in the recliner together anyway.  He’s my constant little comforter!

Martha, so sorry to hear you have shingles.  I have been fortunate enough (so far) not to have had them.  I have a few friends who have and they are quite painful.  Hope you get better soon.

I also have a friend in Texas who has been miserable because of the constant hot, dry weather.  We’ve had some of that in Kansas City, but nothing like what you are experiencing day after day.

Hugs to you and Bennie.

Martha, I cannot imagine having shingles in this heat. My mom had them several times and I know how much pain they cause. I am in central texas about an hour sw of Ft.Worth, but guess it is hot hot hot all over the state.

Looks like they’ve been up to something and almost got caught.  Henry the ring leader, Benny the front man and sweet, dear Luna the mole.

Martha, thoughts are with you.  That herpes virus can certainly do a number on various body parts and none of it any fun.  Wonder where they got the name “shingles”  At any rate, best wishes to you and to our Texan friends as well.  Hearing the weather report this a.m. made me wonder how any of you could even go out the door and how well the ACs could keep up.  When we get into the 90’s (as in lately) our AC struggles to stay at 70.  I can only imagine what temps in the 100s would do.

Pug mama - is Abby keeping cool enough or has she gone back to your mom’s for awhile again?

Pug hugs to all!

Abby and Pug Mama just returned from the great Northwoods, Mom and us, along with mom’s dog Tessa and the 2 cats rented a cottage on a lake for a week.  Leave it to silly Abby to need to find a vet while we were up there cuz she came down with an eye infection.  The weather was great except for one day, so Abby had no complaints and it was nice for us cityfolk to be lakefolk for the week:0)  Just catching up tonight, look forward to getting back into the swing of things as soon as my inbox diminishes…!!!!!

Oh my goodness! I don’t know how I missed this post?!!!!! I love it! What wonderful caretakers they must be! I love how it said Luna ate slow to torment her brothers. And how she wanted to be lifted on the bench for some lovin’. They would all be trying to get away from me b/c I would love them so much. Pip does. he sighs and I swear with his eyes tells me “thats enough Mama”.

I would love to be a caretaker! Corrine, if I ever move to Florida, I will turn in my resume! smile
