Shade
As hot as it has been recently, the shade is a nice place to be. Even Henry, a true sun lover, has been hanging out in the shade lately.

It looks like mimo’s gotten big enough for some good shade for Hank!
Darling Henry! Outstanding in the field!
Henry does look quite content sitting under the shade tree. Is it Mimo?? It has been so hot here in
Texas… over 100 for the last 19 days. Luckily we have some big shade trees in our front yard, but Genevieve has really had a hard time this summer. She definitely prefers the a/c. So do I.
It is 10:19am CDT and I just got off the phone with the vet concerning Romeo. I am jumping for joy and concerned at the same time. Jim was in surgery so I spoke with Curtis. The DEX test came back negative for Cushing’s in either the pitituary or adrenal gland, but he still has all the symptoms for Cushing’s. If they can still use the blood extracted from Romeo Tuesday they are going to perform another type of test, or I have to take him in so they can get more blood. If that doesn’t show anything then an ultrasound is next to determine if there is a tumor other than might be on the pituitiary or adrenal glands. Curtis thinks there is something hormonal going on because of all his symptoms. It is still a big mystery what is going on. I’m joyful he in all liklihood doesn’t have Cushing’s, but now I’m wondering if it could be something even more serious…ok Sue, cross that bridge when you come to it. Please, if you’re not tired of me, continue with the prayers for Romeo…include me too please. Right now my insides are shaking.
Henry, I didn’t mean to steal your thunder. You look very relaxed and comfortable in the shade handsome boy.
I think Northern Hemisphere Pugs suffer more from the heat than do their Southern cousins, my 6 are really very hardy, Buller runs at leat 1 mile a day, if not more, the others love to run and are always at the top of the hill to welcome us home, no matter the time or weather. They go pumping water [i.e chasing frogs] from the dam and also help Dad to cut firewood, get frantic if left behind, lean out the car windows and actually drive the car and hoot the ‘hooter’ on the way home so that Mom knows that they are on their way. Both Ziller and TaiTai are really good ‘chainsaw mechanics’ Oki does put cotton wool in their ears, to damp out the sound, while the others sit on wood piles directing operations. We are sure going through lot of firewood this winter, tis bitterly cold and we have had rain, more than 2” now, and we are a summer rainfall area. Good thing - as it stops the arson in the plantations, we have had 6 bad fires already this winter.
So cheers to Brenda - I envy your 100 degrees, we are -3 at the moment
Pug hugs to Cool Henry

Sue VDB: I know I speak for everyone when I say there is no circumstance whatsoever that we would grow tired of supporting you and Romeo in prayers and good thoughts!!!
Take one step at a time (I know how much easier said than done this is, believe me!) and don’t think of the worst at this stage of the game; only time will tell what is truly going on, but you are doing everything you possibly can to get to the bottom of it and I know Romeo is so very grateful for his awesome momma.
You will be in constant thought and prayer (both of you)...If you need an ear, you know how to reach me. Please keep us posted and give Romeo hugs from me.
Hi Sue, missed your mail as was busy writing mine, sweetheart, be strong and be brave and keep positive, as said in one of my earlier mails, try alternative, it really works for my 8, if it’s hormonal put him onto calcium and magnesium, a tablet a day crushed ino ground beef, I kept Sam Cat with hormonal cancer alive for 12 years after diagnosis.
Just be strong and keep positive and remember that all of us at OBP are sending lots of positive prayers and vibes both your, the family and most importantly, Romeo’s way
Lots of Pug hugs

Sue VDB, that’s great news so far…maybe it’s just a thyroid deficiency??? Anyway, we are never tired of supporting those that need it! Prayers will continue on and on and on and on…long as you need us!
Henry you are very handsome sitting in the shade but it dosent matter where you sit you just are a very handsome boy
Sue I am with everyone else stay strong and try to think positive I know it is hard remember we are all here for you any time you need us and sending prayers for you and sweet Romeo
Wow, that’s weird. I posted my comment and it didn’t get on. That’s okay because I hadn’t refreshed my screen to see Sue VDB’s latest.
As for Henry, I accused him of getting ready to do a cannonball in the pool to get his siblings wet.
Now Sue VDB, you just put those negative thoughts right out of your mind. You shouldn’t be doing that right now. What you should be doing is feeling all the Pug love and hugs that are being sent your way by all OBPers. You wouldn’t get tired of someone else’s concern and you shouldn’t think any of us would either. We are all so anxious for reports of Romeo (and you also) but all we can do is pray or send positives and hopes it helps and also that you feel hugged by this community. I’ll bet my last dollar (which may not be far off) that everyone feels the same way.
Pug hugs,
Huckle &
the Swamp Pugs
(alright - Cooper too)
Sue~Heather is right…we will never grow tired of saying prayers for you or for Romeo. I have been thinking of you a lot lately!!! Extra prayers! Please keep us posted.
grannygoogs ~ I love reading about your pugs and their lives with you. It sounds wonderful. My favorite was “while the others sit on the woodpiles directing operations.” I love it. Stay warm. Tell me where you live again. I know I know but I’ve forgotten. And I wish I could send you some of our heat here in Omaha, Nebraska. Very hot and humid. I would prefer the cold.
Pug Mama ~ How is Abbey doing.
Pugs Hugs all around!
Yay Cooper, sooper dooper party pooper! You’re back in “the circle”!
Sue, All our prayers to you and Romeo. Never get tired of thinking of ya’ll and sending the best to you.
GG, you mean your gang will allow someone to put cotton in their ears and then to keep it in? All Gracie would do would be to sprint away the minute she saw a cotton ball and we’d be looking at her receding rear. The others would run too not even knowing why they were running. South African dogs must be made differently.
Sue VDB, still thinking of you and your little rascal.
Huckle ~ I thought the same thing. Pip would shake his head until the cotton flew out. Like you said, those South African pugs must be made different.
Sue, Huckle & Gina - yeah the ‘southern pugs’ are different, they are all total hooligans and Gina, yes, they do direct operations!! Downstairs at the moment, they have taken over the couch [4 seater] and my ‘lazyboy’ - all conviently placed in front of th fire place. Cheeky as all hell, all I have to day to any of thm is ‘I’m gonna getsha’ and it full ‘play mode’ - I land up getting licked to death.
Dad is downstairs saying goodnght to them all, kisses and hugs and ‘sleep well my babbies’ we are an absolute ‘hoot’ when it comes to ‘the kids’
Dad is coming upstairs now, so I will sign off - bed time for us old folks
Pug hugs and lots of love
Grannygoogs and the ‘Lonehill 6’
Grannygoogs! Thank you for telling us all that! I love it! Cheeky as all hell you say?! I love love love it! Don’t they rule the roost?! Pip does! And I love that your husband gets into it too! Telling them goodnight and all. So very sweet. Lucky pugs they are!!!!
Henry - it’s been scorching up here in Toronto, too. Super hot for little black pugs! Sending cooling thoughts your way.
