She Works Hard for the Peanut Butter

The other night the pugs were restless so I gave them a Kong. I shot a little video of Luna working to get the peanut butter out of her Kong. It's a wonder she doesn't tire out her little tongue.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Awwww, Luna, you are quite the persistant licker.  When the reward is peanut butter, lick all ya want:-)

I am sitting here in tears, my Abby is having a very bad couple of days.  She is struggling very, very hard to breathe comfortably.  She went to the vet this afternoon, and they said her trachea looks like it has some acute flareup and irritation.  So, she is now on Temaril P tablets, as well as her ace and hydrocodone.  She is not comfortable at all.  Didn’t help that the air conditioner decided to quit working yesterday, but thankfully that has now been fixed.  Please pray that my 12.5 year old Abby pulls through this.  She sounds so miserable and scary right now:-(

Oh Pug Mama - how scared you must be.  The group is here for support, just keep us informed.  What are the vet’s opinion and suggestions.  Has the med helped her relax from that scary, hard, labored breathing?

Prayers are with you and Abby.

She was able to eat her dinner, but that increased her coughing a lot.  I guess if she still has her appetite, that is a good sign.  Her cough is just very chesty and sorta sounds like a bullfrog croak, or a little kid with a bad case of croup.

Her vets office has been wonderful today, I had surgery on my foot almost 2 weeks ago, and I am still not allowed to drive.  There was not a single person I knew that was available to take us to the vet, so the vet’s office was able to send one of their vet techs over to pick her up, and take her back to the office for the xray, blood draw and exam.  They said her CBC was normal so it isn’t infectious, that it is just her exhausted narrowed trachea acting up.  It had been since 1/2009 since she had her last really bad episode of this, I am sort of puzzled about what brought it on.  The a/c wasn’t functioning for a bit, but still, the temp in here didn’t go above 79 F, so that isn’t terrible.  The a/c is all fixed now, and we are back to a cooler temp.  There was a huge amount of rainfall yesterday, so I wonder if the huge humidity in the air was irritating to her.

Thank you for your prayers, I just wish I could soothe her and make it stop faster.  I feel so helpless, she has had the meds she can for now, so now we just wait, in the cool house, and keeping her quiet, and telling her how much I love her, soothing my baby girl.  I will keep all of you posted. <3

Pug Mamma - I am so sorry to hear about Abby.  I can totally relate.  Sol was on all the same medicines and I know how hard it is to listen to Abby cough and struggle to breathe.  I am thinking of you both and wishing nothing but the best.  Take care.

thank you all for your continued prayers and support.  She isn’t getting worse, but hasn’t really improved yet.  She is still eating, and perky, but when she starts coughing, I keep thinking, ok, this may be it.  She is being pretty quiet, not into doing much of anything.  Her color of her gums, etc is staying nice and pink though, so she is getting enough oxygen.  Probably will be heading back to the vet on monday, depending on how she is by then.  Just keeping her cool, quiet and happy.  Hugs and puppy kisses to all of you <3 <3

I’m being cautiously optimistic this afternoon:-)  Abby has been coughing much, much less this afternoon, and it doesn’t sound nearly so horrendous and scary as it was.  I am hoping that the magical amount of steroid she needed finally kicked in and worked its magic, cuz she has definitely turned a corner, a GOOD corner:-)

She is acting much more comfortable than she has been in days, and is just seeming like we pulled her through this episode, whether it was the outstanding care from her vet’s office, or the constant prayers and thoughts from the Owned by Pugs community, I don’t know.  But, I am gonna take it and praise the world for my girl acting so much better!!!!!!  Yippeeee!!!  Thank you all for holding us up during the past few scary days:-)
