The Pillow Throne

Benjamin, Henry & Luna the Princess

Well, it obvious from this photo that the boys have finally recognized Luna’s “Princess” status.  While the boys are little “Princes” they have allowed their sweet baby sister to have the pillow throne for this photo.  If Princess Luna could only remember to be humble with her calling it would probably go over better with the commoners.  She is very much of an alpha Princess.

Luna is precious! Hey, quick question. What are your guys’ thoughts on getting a 2nd Pug…I already have a boy pug…would it be good to get a girl pug? Is it okay to mix the genders? Will they play nicely together?

We’ve been thinking over the same questions as Nevis.  How does getting a second pug work when the first pug thinks the world revolves around him?

The decision to add another pug to the family is never an easy one.  I think there are so many factors to consider, that it is really hard to come up with general rules like if you have a boy you should get a girl.  It just doesn’t work that way.  I think you need to consider the personality of your pug or pugs.  Before we adopted Luna, we decided that if we adopted any pug it must be a girl.  This was just from months of observing Benjamin & Henry at the dog park and noticing that they got along much nicer with the female dogs.  Another thing to consider is that things are different once another dog is brought into your “home turf.”  I think it is also important to try and match the lifestyle of your current pugs.  When we were looking to adopt we wanted a pug that was around the same age as the boys and was in about the same physical shape.  This way everyone could go on our long walks and we wouldn’t have to worry about leaving anyone at home.  I would love to say that we were sure that adopting Luna was the right thing to do, but I was worried throughout the whole process and I was so worried on the long drive down to pick her up.  You can never be 100% sure, you just have to think things through as much as possible and then work hard to make sure the peace is kept once you make your decision.
