The Pug That Grew
Once upon a time there lived in the countryside, a mother, father, and a small girl who went by the name of Ella. Now everyday, Ella’s father would take his car and drive off “to work” he told Ella. Now since Ella was small, about 4 years old, she stayed home with her mother. And since Ella’s mama liked to garden, why of course, Ella helped out and loved to garden with her mother. Ella always marveled at the work her mama did and could hardly believe that from a tiny seed, a magical flower would appear. When a lot of flowers came out of the ground, Ella and her mother would carefully snip them to make room for more, and then they would bring them into the house and place them in vases all over the house.
Now it must be said, that while Ella was a happy child, she was very, very young, and she frequently wished for a playmate of her own…..One day Ella’s mother carefully explained why watering the plants in the garden were so important so they would turn into beautiful flowers…...and it was at this moment that Ella got an idea.
That very afternoon, Ella went into her bedroom, and rummaging around her toys, finally came up with here pug beanie babe. She proclaimed (to herself of course)..“I know just what I am going to do!”
Ella placed her small pug beanie baby in a large, leftover can, and then ever so carefully sprinkled some water over it…. Each day she would come back to the can, look inside, and sprinkle some more water on it. She kept the can in a corner in her beautiful yard so that it would be sure to get sunshine…..and of course, she continued heaping her mother plant seeds and take care of the garden.
One sunny afternoon, Ella’s father was walking around the yard and found Ella’s can; it was set in a sunny spot, but inside, was a soaking wet beanie baby pug…
The father called to the mother and after a long debate, the mother said..“I think I know what this all about!
The parents watched carefully and sure enough, Ella would go to the can everyday, look inside and add a little water…
Several weeks later something amazing happened…..Ella heard her name being called over and over by her parents…..she had been playing with her dolls, but quickly put them down, and ran towards the sound…
In the yard, growing out of the can….WAS A REAL LIVE PUG BABY!.....Of course Ella was absolutely delighted….this is exactly what she had been hoping for, and she excitedly told her parents how she had kept watering the beanie baby pug….., but WE THINK…..that maybe Ella’s parents knew…...The beanie baby pug was never to be seen again….and instead, a soft as silk, with velvety eared pug named Pugsley, had taken its place!
i everyone: I just “produced” another story on the picture of Pugsley that we all received earlier this week….something was formulating in my head, but I didn’t get it down until now…...its the last entry on this page of Pugsley! And thanks for your kind remarks on todays story…...Robin
