Hey Rosie ......... the pug perfect pose, and those divine wrinkles. Are you getting ready to spend the 4th at the beach??
I need to take my 6 to the sea….I’d love to see their reaction, buts it’s soooo far away and we don’t have too many ‘pet friendly’ hotels or guest houses in South Africa, perhaps we’ll all go camping in Mozambique…that will be more fun!!

Wow Grannygoogs, I didn’t realize you were in South Africa - how neat is that? (it sounds exotic)

As for darling little Rosie, she looks as if she has the world by her tail.  She’s one lucky little puggie.  Beaches on Lake Erie (our nearest water) are closed to dogs.  I can see why but there ought to be one open for them.  It looks so enjoyable for those of you on water.

I agree Grannygoogs, a smoooooooch on those wrinkles.

Aw Mom, is it for real?  I get to run up and down this entire beach and sniff for all the little clams?  Can I go out in the water too?  Can I?  Wait - I want to pose for this picture first, head tilted just right - aren’t I a beautiful puglette?  xxxooo
**About smooching those beautiful wrinkles, I have three pugs myself and each morning before I leave for work I kiss them on their wrinkles and leave a lipstick print!  xxxooo

Wow I’m so excited to have my baby girl on as todays featured Pug. We live in Southern California and about an hour away there is a mile long stretch of beach designated for dogs. We love it and she loves it. Thank you all for the wonderful comments this little girl is the “Light of my Life”

Dear Sue S - and the Colorado 9!!  What fantastic news!! It is amazing how many babies can fit inside. I assisted at the ‘accouchement’ of my friend Mari’s pug ‘Ting-Ting’ - She also had 8, 6 beige and 2 black, labour started at 21h30 and ended at 04h30… it was along haul and we were all exhausted. All 8 survived and as the ‘accouchier’ - I got to keep the pick of the litter - my hooligan “Tai-Tai’.
A tip for all pug parents on birth, keep a bottle of whisky or brandy or bourbon handy, and when you remove the caul (sac /afterbirth) gently blow into the baby’s mouth and dip you finger into the alcohol and dab a tiny bit onto baby’s tongue, rub them dry and put them into another basket lined with either an electric blanket or hot water bottles covered with a warm flannel sheet.
There is always a debate on whether to allow the mother to eat the afterbirth as they do in nature, but I have found it better to remove it myself and dispose of it, disinfecting my hands all the time.
My worst experience was my very special and still sadly mourned Phoebe (aka as Noodle) in labour, realised that there was something wrong, all too slow and we rushed down the mountain to the nearest vet (some 45 kms away} but had to stop in the middle of a Tea plantation and I had to assist her with a breech birth. Got to the vet, breech baby was fine, the next one was a normal birth at the vet. Wed wait for quite a while, the vet tells us that there are no more so we go home and as we get to the farm, she goes into labour again - you’ve guessed it… another breech!!
Those moments of being there with you special baby and helping them and encouraging them and pushing with them remain the most special in my life!!
Enjoy your babies, they will give you so much joy as they develop their little personalities and you will cry with laughter at their antics
Much love and pug hugs

sue s - how wonderful to hear the news of the widdle babies.  I was wondering about them because I thought it was about time.  You must be so thrilled.  Eight seems like an awful lot for a little Puggie, where did she stash them all?

Please take plenty of pics to share; they will be so extremely cute.  Then take your phone off the hook because we will all be calling for one of them!

Grannygoogs - What purpose does the alcohol serve (probably a dumb question, but I don’t know)?  Could it be a stimulus to shock them into breathing?  Or is it to just to have a bunch of little drunk Pugs?  smile

Sue - I’d seen a picture of a white Pug on the internet, I think at a Pug meeting.  Interesting looking creatures and I’m tempted to find a white Pug to go with my black Pugs.  Wouldn’t that be cute?

Thank you all! Mama Beauty and kids are doing well and the vet says they are all healthy!  black & white pug-sort of like an oreo pug would just be off the map cute!!!As soon as the little darlings open their eyes and grow some, pictures will be shared. Right now they clump together and look like a pug-blob. Our grandson wants to keep the one fawn male and I’d like to keep the one fawn female, actually-I’d like to keep all of them!!But practicallity tells me 2 max. Will keep you all posted.Thank you Granny Googs for sharing the birthing information-this is great to know. Pug-hugs from the Colorado 9

Hi Huckle,
I was given a British Pug Association Book ( printed in 1954) in which the dab of alcohol was recommended. I think that the combination of the aroma and the burn of the brandy [or whatever you use] that opens up their little lungs and gets them breathing. It also helps the accouchier [mid-wife - me!!] to cope, I take a swig from time to time, keeps me calm! and therefor Mummy Pug calm!
Hi Sue DS - how it going? Yes you description of a pug blog is perfect! How is Beauty doing. Build her up - add a beaten egg to her milk every morning, that helps and I don’t know if you get Chicken necks in the States - I cook these in a pressure cooker, with grated carrot and potato and chicken stock (NO MSG!] at full pressure for about 20 minutes so that the necks fall apart and the bone cartilage is very soft. This brew is high in calcium and will help Beauty to produce more milk and because if the high calcium content, the babies will have strong bones. Also, once their eyes are open and they are between 2 & 3 weeks old and starting to move around, you will see that Beauty is taking strain, try and start supplementing their diet, I use a product called Pro-Nutro, but any baby porridge will do and start off using a teaspoon- I’ll warn you ... it’s a very messy process, they’ll only take 1/2 a teaspoon and you’ll have the rest on you. As they get old , use 4 tea cup saucers and put two babies at each, again a very messy process but hysterical to watch as they are definitely head heavy and nose dive into the porridge. Have fun
Love
Grannygoogs
