Shadow, Midnite & Frankie

Shadow, Midnite & Frankie

Robin Anne Erbland

12/12/2012

......Shadow, Midnite, and Frankie were HUNGRY that night….VERY HUNGRY!...So hungry in fact, that they did not know how much longer they could hold out…They kept waiting for the food dishes to come down, but they did NOT!  They glared….balefully at their humans….trying their best to let them know they were HUNGRY….Midnite, in particular, tried sniffing around the leg of her human to let them know that time was of the essence….Midnite had never taken a bite out of her owners leg….but Midnite was positively salivating!...And Frankie…Well it was all he could do to keep his act together…He kept shifting from one paw to the other….I mean, after all, his WORLD REVOLVED AROUND FOOD!...Now one might wonder what was going on with Shadow….for Shadow, was FAR more patient than the rest…Not to worry though, for in true pug fashion, Shadow was also experiencing “sinister” thoughts should the “food bag” not be tied on ...and QUICKLY!...Yes Shadow said to himself, he wanted food and NOW…What he would do if he didn’t get it…and fast…well…He had decided to twirl around in circles chasing his tail…and if he got it…well, he was simply going to chew it off to stave off the hunger pangs! ...

Their human was busy at the counter above…and indeed could feel 3 sets of eyes upon her…she was worried…she KNEW her pugs well…and knew their very singular inclinations…she really wasn’t too worried about losing a bite out of her leg…Midnite frequently “threatened” to do that (by the look in her eyes), when ever she was hungry,  and as far as Frankie was concerned, well, paw shifting had never amounted to more than the clickety-clack of little toenails on the kitchen floor….

What worried their human most…was Shadow…and Shadow’s determination to chase his tail….She knew that if he caught it…..he may very well chew it off….and at the thought of a tail-less pug made their human work even faster….She kept chopping things up, and going back to the refrigerator…and getting more things out…and chopping them up…(all the while, nervously keeping an eye on the 3 sets of eyes that were keeping an eye on her!)

All of a sudden…the human turned and looked at the three of her babies…and stated…“Okay, okay…it’‘s COMING!....At this the 3 pugs looked from one to another….got up and started merrily dancing and twirling about the kitchen floor!  They could tell and smell…something GOOD was coming!!

Three dishes full of food were simultaneously placed on the floor and those dishes were full….(but not too full…because of course no one wants a pug too fat…except of course for the pug himself…who doesn’t really care anyway…)

Upon close examination (which was really difficult because three black muzzles buried themselves in their food bowls), one could see the outcome of all the preparation…...tidbits of lean turkey….roastbeef….chicken…and carrots (because they were good for a pug’s eyes)...all mixed up with a wonderful smelling gravy!

Wow….thought their human…thank heaven I got the food bowls down in time…“I have lived to see another day”.....

Yummy…thought the three pugs….we really know how to pull off getting exactly what we want…..

Hi there Grannygoogs!  Long time…“No See!”.....I am so glad you like my stories….I never know which turns and takes they are going…until I reach completion!  I rarely keep copies of my stories…sometimes I do….If I were to write a book, I would really need permission of the pug owners to use their pugs photographs with the photos….at least that’s what I’d like….although I write for pure fun, and have never given any serious consideration to putting a book together.  If I am notbeing too bold… I did really like this story…and I did keep a copy…Why don’t you print out copies of the stories…and put them into one of those three ring or four ring binders…Then you can go back and read a “select story ” to your pugs as a bedtime story…they won’t get scared because all my stories turn out good in the end..haha!

Rubba dub dub 3little pugs in a row-and so very adorable! Robin I have to echo the comments made by others how delightful your stories are.I save all the OBP e mails so if you decide to publish I will try and dig through and find your stories. You could sell them and donate the proceeds to shelters & rescues. The finding part would take some time. Pug hugs from pastor sue & the colorado 2

Hi Pastor Sue:  Now THAT is certainly a TERRIFIC IDEA & actually, from this time on I will definitely save my stories….I would love to be able to help all pugs in need and in need of rescue!  I thank you so much for giving me some thought and inspiration!  Okay….as you get time…start looking through what you have..including pictures.  I expect this could take quite a while….and when you find whatever you can, let me know… A BIG THANK YOU!..Actually don’t worry about the pictures…
