So after months of trying everything except getting another bin, I think I have come up with a solution that is agreeable to both parties. I took one of their new donut beds and put it on a ottoman I have in my office. This isn’t the special part, though, I have tried the bed on the ottoman solution before. What I did differently this time, is that I was sure to place the ottoman in the same sun beam that warms the bin. I think this was the piece I was missing all along!
Here I was thinking that the pugs liked the bin because it was elevated and I was missing once crucial piece - sunshine. So the key to creating two agreable sleeping spots was elevating the bed and putting it in the sunbeam. The other day they even took turns sharing the bin and the bed on the ottoman.
Lucky for me, Luna has no interest in laying in either the bin or the bed on the ottoman because I am out of ottomans and I would have to move a bookcase to fit her into the same sunbeam!
As you will see, Benjamin takes his treats very seriously. When he gets a Kong he doesn’t let up until he gets every bit of peanut butter that I slather inside. The original video goes on for more than 3 minutes, but I edited it down because you might have other things to get to today and after about a minute you get the gist. My favorite part is the snorting and sniffling.
When we leave the house we crate the pugs. Benjamin & Henry share a crate and Luna has her very own crate located right next to the boys’. Before we leave, we give the pugs a go to bed biscuit which the boys chow down. Luna, on the other hand, takes here sweet time and usually ends up breaking her treat up into a thousand little pieces. She gets most of the pieces, but she doesn’t clean things up quite to Benny’s standards. So from time to time, I find Benny sneaking into Luna’s crate searching for crumbs.
In the morning, Ben is such a sleepy head. Henry and Luna are not morning pugs either, but unlike his brother and sister, Benny always gets up to go to work with me. All the pugs get up for breakfast, but Henry and Luna quickly retreat back to bed after their last bite of banana. Benny, on the other hand, always accompanies me to my office. Granted, he finds a comfy spot and falls back asleep, but I think it is sweet that he at least pretends to go to work with me. Henry and Luna always come to work with me too, they’re just usually a few hours late. Good thing I’m not a tough boss.
This is a little tribute to Ben’s Puffy done to the tune of the children’s song Billy Boy.
Oh where have you been, puffy puff, puffy puff?
Oh where have you been, my little puffy?
I have fallen under the bed
While you were a sleepy head
I am not missing just go ask your mother
Oh where have you been, puffy puff, puffy puff?
Oh where have you been, little puffy?
You have left me by the pool
Oh you silly puggy fool
I am not missing just go ask your mother
Oh where have you been puffy puff, puffy puff?
Oh where have you been, little puffy?
You dropped me in the yard
When you were running hard
I am not missing just go ask your mother
Oh where have you been puffy puff, puffy puff?
Oh where have you been, little puffy?
You forgot me in the bin
But that’s not a mortal sin
I am not missing just go ask your mother
This is just classic Baby Benny. He plays hard and relaxes like no other. There is no in between with him. He is either on the go or he is passed out. It’s just what makes him Benny!
Benny was perched up on the arm of the sofa the other day and he looked to be deep in thought. Perhaps he was thinking about the best way to get the yummy peanut butter center out of the rawhide bone. Or maybe he was thinking about how to outsmart his brother and actually catch him while playing chase. In any case, his concentration was quickly broken as something in front of the house caught his eye.
