Thinking Outside the Box

Henry

Henry is always one to blaze his own trail.

Sol Sunshine Memorial Fund Update

I am so happy to report that in just 3 days, as of this writing, $1,010.00 has been contributed to the Sol Sunshine Memorial Fund via Pledgie. I don't know the exact amount, but I know other donations have been made outside of Pledgie as well.

I am truly at a loss for words. All I can say is that all of you out there in OBP land are the most caring and generous people that I have ever met. Or should I say that I have never met? Either way it doesn't matter. Whether I have met you or not, there are no better pug supporters out there than all of you!

The Sol Sunshine Memorial Fund will remain open for donations and it is my goal to ensure that the fund makes as much of an impact on the lives of senior pugs as Solsey made on our lives. I have big paws to fill because Sol made an everlasting impression on us. That means, like Henry, I will have to do some out of the box thinking of my own.

No Luck of the Irish

Henry

This was the state of our front yard in early March. Luckily, it doesn't really matter to Henry what color the grass is. Brown, green or whatever color in between, if the sun is shining Henry is just fine.

Open Door Policy

Henry

If you want to get the pugs' attention around here, close a door to a room in the house. It doesn't matter which one. It can be any room you like. A room that they don't even go in much, but when the door is closed rest assured that you will have four pugs standing there staring at the closed door looking like their best friend is locked on the other side.

And don't, ever, EVER close the bathroom door. A closed door to the bathroom surely means that mom is sneaking out a secret passageway and will never return. NEVER!

Weekends

Benjamin, Henry and Luna

Yesterday was chilly & rainy, but even a dreary, rainy day beats a workday.

Dawdling Doody

Henry

There is no one that is better at wasting time than Henry. Although, I don't think he would consider it wasting time, he would consider it just enjoying the day. There is something about the combination of a nice grassy patch and the sun rays that just makes him plop himself down. He sits for a while, he rolls around, he watches cars pass by, he does everything but walk. Who knows, if the rest of my afternoon was free like his, relaxing in the grass might seem like a good idea to me too.

Opportunity Knocking?

Henry

Henry was happily chewing, when a noise came from the kitchen. Could it be, another treat for pugs?

The Most Nervous One

Benjamin and Henry

Last Friday, when all four pugs made their way to the eye vet, Benjamin was the most nervous of the bunch. Benjamin, the only pug that did not have an appointment.

He was fine in the car, but when we arrived at the office he was on high alert. Smelling this & that & sticking his nose where it didn't belong. He even made sure he was the first one of the group to get weighed. Because if anything bad happened he wanted them to have his accurate weight!

When we went into the exam room, he immediately found the treat jar. Knowing that there were treats in the room that he had not yet tasted kept him busy for a while. Once the eye vet came in, he was first to greet her and made sure that she knew he was Benny & that he was fine.

The girls were first up and Benjamin paid no attention to them. Instead he was focused on those tasty treats in the jar out of his reach. Then it was Henry's turn & that is when Benny practically fell apart. He paced and whined & eventually jumped up on the chairs and paced & whined. "Why are you looking at my brother? What's wrong with Henry? Nothing's wrong with Henry. Henry you're fine, right? HENRY! HENRY!"

The eye vet & the vet tech even commented on how connected the boys were. That is when I took the time to explain the unhealthy dependence the boys have. Well, let me rephrase, the unhealthy dependence Benjamin has on Henry.

Without, Henry for an extended period of time, Benny will fret & worry himself to death. The same goes when Henry is hurt. When Henry had his knee surgery, Benjamin was a mess. He almost took it harder than Henry.

When Benny had to stay at the vet for an overnight many years ago, while Henry missed him, he was no worse for the wear. In fact, he had himself a grand 'ole day. He went to the pet store, grabbed some lunch at an outdoor eating spot. He was loving life.

Ultimately, Benny is just a big softie. He needs his Henry.
