Great Idea

Luna

DancesInGarden had a wonderful suggestion last week for the picture we posted of Luna in the new garden in the backyard.  She thought that with a little cropping on the photo would could get a great shot of Luna with the coneflower.  I agreed, so I took her advice and did some cropping on the photo.  I think it came out pretty well.  I just wish I hadn’t take the photo from inside the screen.  The photo would be much clearer.

Just to compare, here is the original shot before I cropped the picture.

Dog Tags

Benjamin's Red Dingo Dog Tag

A few months ago, we got each of the pugs new Red Dingo Dog ID Tags.  When I first saw the tags, I was immediately drawn to them because of their unique designs.  They were eye catching and it didn’t hurt that you could mix and match designs and colors to your heart’s content.  There are 8 different designs and each design is available in 9 different colors and each tag is available in 3 different sizes.  So we had plenty of tag choices.

Red Dingo Dog Tags

We tried to choose tags for each of the pugs that expressed their personality.  Benjamin’s tag is the first picture up top and we choose the Happy Dog design for him because he’s just a happy go lucky kind of guy.

Henry's Red Dingo Dog Tag

Henry’s tag is a bone because he loves to chew anything.  It doesn’t matter what type of bone it is, he just loves to get a new bone and find a nice quiet spot to chew and chew until he tires himself out.

Luna's Red Dingo Dog Tag

Luna’s tag is a flower because she is such a sweet little girl that is very outgoing.  Also, I think a flower was fitting for her because she is continuing to bloom and flourish in her new home.

I like the tags because they are stylishly functional.  It lets the pugs look good while still having all their necessary contact info on them at all times.

Good Morning

Luna & Benjamin in the new garden

The new garden we planted has been a hit with the pugs.  Luna just loves to lay in the garden in the morning before it gets too hot outside.  I would have thought that the rocks would make for an uncomfortable bed, but apparently Luna feels differently.  She chooses to lay in the rocks amongst the flowers each morning.

I’m glad the little girl likes the new garden, but best of all I’m glad the new garden has solved our pee-pee problem.

A Question For You

Luna

For all those with little girl pugs out there, do you find that your girls are vocally demanding?

Luna rarely barks at people that walk by the house or really anything else that the boys bark at.  Instead, she barks when she wants something.  If she wants some of your dinner she will bark at you.  If she wants to play with one of the boys she will bark at them.  If something smells good that she wants to eat, she will bark hoping you will give it to her.

She never really barks to be a watchdog, instead she barks to say, “Hey, pay attention to me and give me whatever it is that I want!”

So my question is, “Is this a female pug behavior or is this just a Luna behavior?”  Neither one of my boys act this way, but they have been together since they pups so I don’t know if they just never picked up this behavior.

The Princess and the Pea

Luna sleeping on two dog beds

Benjamin & Henry always hear us talking to Luna and referring to her as “princess.”  The boys weren’t entirely sold on their little sister being a real princess so they put her to the test.  They remembered the story The Princess and the Pea and they decided to use the same technique to prove whether or not Luna was a real princess.  They snagged a pea from their dinner bowl and put it under the dog bed in my office.  They then stacked another dog bed on top.  Sure enough, Luna took the bait and tried to make herself cozy, but wouldn’t you know, she just couldn’t fall asleep because there was something hard under her bed!  To their dismay, Benjamin & Henry learned that their sister is infact a real princess.

Casting Call

Luna as the coffee table

The role of the coffee table is now being played by Luna the Pug.

As we were putting the furniture back after steam cleaning Luna plopped down in the middle of the rug in the living room right where the coffee table usually sits.  She stayed there for quite awhile, which helped us procrastinate in getting the living room completely back together.  She was there so long that I thought she would make a good stand in for the coffee table.  Just look how wonderfully she can hold the newspaper!  That big coffee table has nothing on her!

Here is a shot to show how she has set herself up right in the middle of the rug.

Bare Necessities

Benjamin

The house is bare!  Well not really.  Just the rooms with carpet in them.  We had our carpet cleaned on Tuesday and in preparation we moved all of the furniture out of the rooms that were to be cleaned.  Benny made me laugh because he set up shop right in the middle of the empty living room.  He was steady chewing his bone, oblivious to the fact that everything else around him had been removed.  As long as no one touched his bone, he was a happy fellow.

With 3 pugs, a cat, and two humans we try to clean the carpet every 6 months to keep things looking nice.  We normally rent a carpet cleaning machine and do the cleaning ourselves, but this time we brought in a professional.  When we clean the carpet, it is an all day affair.  Mainly because we have to empty and refill the steamcleaner’s bucket so many times.  So since we were tight on time, and the carpet was ready for cleaning, we paid someone to clean it for us.  And let me just tell you, I don’t think I will ever clean it again!  They were in and out in about an hour and a half and the carpet looks great!

Benjamin, Henry & Luna in their makeshift beds in the kitchen

But don’t worry.  The pugs weren’t too inconvenienced by the carpet cleaning.  I spent the day working at the kitchen table and I made sure to setup a makeshift sleeping area for the pugs.  They made do and were happy to have the beds because watching the guy steam clean the carpet really tired them out!

Now we will just have to wait and see if Benny can keep his streak intact.  The last two times we cleaned the carpet, Benny promptly threw up on the nice clean rug.  The first time it was within the first week of the cleaning and the second time it was within two days.  There is just something about a nice clean rug that makes Benny nauseous.
