Purrcival Magillicuddy

Purrcival Mugaillicuddy

The pugs would like to welcome their new cousin Purrcival Magillicuddy into the family. Purrcy has a ton of kitten energy and is working on making friends with Ted the turtle - his older bro'. So far they are taking it one day at a time.

A Picture of Baby Jax

Baby Jax

Ann was kind enough to send over a picture of Baby Jax with his vet tech taken after his liver shunt surgery. Last I heard, he was recovering nicely and his new family was having a hard time keeping the little guy on bed rest grin.

Help Needed for Baby Jax

I am reposting the text below from the Central Florida Pug Rescue website.  If Jax has the surgery he will be having it at the same place Sol had her mandibulectomy.  If given that opportunity he will have nothing but a bright future.  The surgeons, doctors and staff there are top knotch.  Just look what they did for little Sol.

BABY JAX DESPERATELY NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!

Jax started out life by being placed in a crate with his mom and newborn siblings and tossed out on the side of the road near Jacksonville, Florida on New Year’s Day, 2009.  Fortunately a caring passerby saw the crate and movement inside and stopped.  Central Florida Pug Rescue was called in and the new family became part of OUR family.  They received immediate medical attention and lots of love, and after a time, all were placed in loving forever homes.  Little Jax found a family of his own, who love him very much, but he has had to stay in rescue longer.  Our vet noticed that Jax was not quite right…he had periodic spells of deep lethargy.  This past week baby Jax began having seizures leaving him nearly comatose.  Our vet immediately administered a round of tests…and found that Jax had a liver shunt…a genetic malformation that prevents his liver from functioning correctly and causes a back up of toxins in his body.

THE GOOD NEWS…this condition is easily remedied by surgery.

With surgery baby Jax will live a long, happy healthy life with his new adoring family.

WITHOUT SURGERY, HE WILL DIE BEFORE HE IS A YEAR OLD.

Central Florida Pug Rescue has found a surgeon who will do this procedure but the cost will be $4,000.00.  We have one month to raise this amount and save baby Jax’s life.  We can’t do it without your help.  We know times are hard and money is scarce…but help us give this little boy a chance.

Any donations, large or small, are welcome and may be sent by check made out to “CFPR” and sent to P.O. Box 953744, Lake Mary, FL 32795 or made by credit or debit card at www.centralfloridapugrescue.org by clicking on the “Help Baby Jax” donation button On the Front Page.  You can also make donations in person at any of our CFPR adoption events.

And we’re back…sorta

So, today was a fun day.  You may have noticed that the site was extremely slow this morning and if you happened to try to get to the site sometime after about 11:45 AM the site was completely down.  I’ll spare you the mundane details, but we had to make a switch to a new server today.  It was something I was planning to do over the weekend, but the issue was kinda forced today, so I had to start the move early.  Everything is up and running except for the Pug Pictures and the Daily Pug Pictures.  There are over 4,000 photos in the Pug Picture gallery and I am still in the process of getting them transfered over to the new server.  Hopefully, I will have that completed by the end of the weekend.

Also, if you sent me an email anytime today or late last night I did not receive it.  Email was down for me the entire day.

I apologize for the interruption and will do my best to get everything back in tip top shape.

Belle is home!

Great news!  Belle’s big trip to Canada went very well on Saturday!  Here are a few words from her new Mom posted on Pug Village.

Belle is home forever. We just arrived here about an hour ago, and Belle has eaten, strolled in the snow, and is sleeping beside me on the couch.  It has been a very long, but wonderful day for all of us. Claudette was so nice, I think she is going to miss Belle a lot. Belle owes her, and Sarina, and everyone on Pugvillage, a great big thank-you. We will send lots of details tomorrow, and thanks again. Joan, John and Belle ps Our little Bella traveled with us to Spokane, and met her sister Belle, and kept her company all the way home

And later the next day, Belle weighed in with her thoughts on her new forever home:

So I have arrived!!! It is cold here, but the house is warm, and I had a good sleep last night, so feeling refreshed and ready for anything.  Breakfast was good, but not near enough of it, so I barked and demanded more, and received a few treats in return. Good to know how that works…I will put it in my memory bank.  There are lots of pugs here, and all bigger than me, so I am being called Peanut for now, as I have a sister named Bella already. Also, unbelievably there are some here that can’t walk either, and they have wheels! Apparently later today, I am going to be fitted for some of my own. I will send pics later today when it warms up. They keep different time here from Florida. So they were 3 hours late for breakfast, and evidently spring is going to be really late as well. But I like the snow, and as long as I am not out too long, it is quite fun. When I am ready to go back in, I just pull mum at full speed, and away we go!!!

Want to than each and every one of you who made this all possible. there are so many of you that kept track of me and prayed for me, and planned and donated for my trip. Particular thanks to the Ellzays, Sarina, and Claudette. These are the people I know by name, but it too so many more of you to literally save my life.

Have to go and snooze now, it seems to be snuggle time, and I don’t want to miss that! I will write later today, and send pics.

Love Belle aka Peanut

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible.  All the wonderful readers of OBP raised $440 to help Belle make the trip to her forever home!  I have drawn the raffle winner and sent the lucky winner an email.  As soon as I hear back from them I will announce the winner on the blog.  Thanks again!

Update: Here are some picture of Belle in her new forever home.
