It has been quite a year here at Owned By Pugs. We rescued a little girl pug, re-designed the OBP website and even opened H.Doodle.com (A Little Shop for Little Dogs). So, there is a lot to be thankful for this year. We thought we would give the kids a chance to tell everyone what they are thankful for.

Hi! It’s Baby Benny, I want to tell everyone that like every other year I’ve been alive, I am thankful for my puffy. My puffy is my little security disk. I take it to bed every night and sometimes I even carry it around with me in the daytime, too. There are times when company will come over and I will shove it in their face. (I like to show it off.) But they think that means I am giving it to them. NO! It’s my puffy! I am just showing it to them. If they want a puffy, they can get their own. My puffy is very precious to me.

I am also thankful for my pile of pillows. I have a pile of pillows in the bedroom, the living room, the flex room and the guest bedroom. My family keeps a lot of pillows around and I am the pillow king of this house! Love my pillows! Yeah, yeah! So thankful!

I am of course, also quite thankful for food. I love my breakfast, lunch & dinner. But I especially love treats…like pumpkin bread, my morning bite of banana, stealing Cheerios, apple cinnamon softies from Doggie Dayz and any frozen treat from Ritter’s.

Hello. Henry here. I like to keep it simple. Ever since we moved here to Florida there have been a couple really important things that I am especially thankful for: the beautiful fenced in yard with grass to roll around in, the warm sunshine to warm me and the chilly swimming pool to cool me when the sun gets to be just a little too much. I love to be outside and soaking in the warm Florida weather. Yes, it is a pugs life for me! Very appreciative, I am!

Hey! It’s little Luna! Talk about thankful! I am the Cinderella story of this household! I went from pug rags to pug riches when I got this gig. There is so much for me to be thankful for. As most of you know, I wasn’t very well taken care of early in my life. I came here and I got a fun family that loves me, takes care of my medical needs (eye drops every day, eye surgery, seeing a dermatologist, the works!) I didn’t have that before and now I feel great (even if I don’t look that much better—-I am definitely healthier!) I sure do appreciate it! I am also so thankful to have 2 brothers that look out for me and having them to cuddle with is just a super feeling! I am also appreciative to the nice lady at compassionate pug rescue that found me this great home.

Hi. It’s me, Cupey cat. I know that this blog is “for the dogs” but it is Thanksgiving and I would like to express my gratitude, as well. I love my wicker box (even though sometimes I have to share it) and my carpeted perch (which I don’t have to share) but what I am most thankful for here at the new house in Florida is the terrific screened in porch where I can watch the squirrels and the geckos and they can’t get me and the great grassy lawn that is fenced in for my protection. I like to go outside and chew on a blade or 2 of grass, chase the bugs and roll on the lawn on a sunny day. I am just as spoiled as the rest of the critters around here but I am not too proud to say thanks! I am quite appreciative even if I don’t show it that often. I really am!

The humans here at OBP have a lot to be thankful for, too. We have terrific family & friends and of course the pets (which are really a big part of the family but the humans might get a little irritated if we didn’t give them top billing) but we are appreciative to you all in the pug community for giving us support through the adoption of our newest pug, Luna and with the the roller coaster of medical issues we have had with her these last few months. We appreciate you and your dedication and support to the cause of all good to all pugs. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Happy Halloween Everyone! This year the pugs are the 3 Little Pigs for Halloween. Henry piggy, the smart one has bricks added to his pig costume. Luna pig, next in line with brains has sticks added to her costume and poor Benjamin is the piggy that made his house of straw. We look forward to walking around the neighborhood early this evening and then opening the door for trick or treaters! Enjoy your holiday festivities!

Henry’s curiosity is still peaked by the scarecrow. Yesterday, Henry sat patiently and waited for pettings that never came. Well, here is the follow up…This morning Henry jumped up on the scarecrow’s lap. He was inquiring as to the reasoning for the lack of lovin’. Henry doesn’t get it. (And folks, Henry is usually the smart one!) You can almost see Henry asking the scarecrow, “Why won’t you pet me? You got somethin’ against pugs? What’s going on with you?” Henry then decided to just have a seat in the newest lap in town.

Henry is somewhat of a spoiled little boy. We can’t so much as take a potty break from him. Whenever anyone goes to the bathroom, he will assume that if you are going to sit on the potty, then he has your undivided attention and that is time for Henry lovin’. Well, yesterday we built a scarecrow for Halloween. (It isn’t your traditional type scarecrow, it is a Baltimore Oriole baseball fan.) The scarecrow is sitting in a beach chair in front of the house. Well, Henry isn’t convinced that the scarecrow isn’t alive. Henry will go sit at the scarecrow’s feet and patiently wait for the scarecrow to pet him. He got a little board waiting for the petting, so he just laid down instead. Henry’s patient. If he thought the scarecrow would eventually give in, then he would sit and wait all day. I guess he will have to wait until the scarecrow needs to use the restroom.

The pugs & cat have grandparents in Maryland. G’ma & G’pa (as the pugs affectionately call them) sent a special care package to all the furry grandkids that arrived today. Baby Benny sniffed out the goods. He even chewed a little hole in the box!

Once the box was open, they discovered a goodie bag each. The bags for the boys had vampires and the one for Luna was a little witch. Cupid’s had a little kitty cat on hers, which we found quite appropriate.

Though we enjoyed the bags, the dogs (and Cupid) more so appreciated the items inside the bags. There was a little pumpkin for each of the little pumpkins and within the pumpkins were yummy treats of dog and cat variety.

Thanks G’ma & G’pa! It is so much fun for the puggies when they get mail. Oh, to lead the life of a pug and just to get fun mail and no bills! Who says Halloween is just for children? The pugs are all ready for Halloween. Be sure to keep an eye out for the unveiling of their crazy costumes. And don’t forget to submit your pug in costume photos to our Halloween Costume Contest. Perhaps your pup will get cool prizes by mail, too. Then your pug could also enjoy receiving a special delivery!

Happy Independence Day! Hope everyone has off work and can enjoy the day. We got things kicked off last night by going to the beach. Today we plan on going to a cookout and just spending some time hanging around the house with the boys and Luna.
Happy 4th of July!

Memorial Day Weekend was a lot of fun this year. I really enjoyed having the extra day off and we got a chance to do a lot of things this weekend. We did some work around the house, took a little day trip, relaxed, and swam in the pool. Luna tested the waters again and she did really well. While she was swimming we tried to teach her that if she wants to get out she needs to swim to the steps. She caught on pretty quick. She would swim over and stand with her hind paws on the top step and her front two paws on the edge of the pool. She would not jump out herself. Instead she would just wait for someone to give her a little extra boost with their hand before she would hop out of the pool.
