Got Mail?

Inspecting the mail

The pugs & cat have grandparents in Maryland.  G’ma & G’pa (as the pugs affectionately call them) sent a special care package to all the furry grandkids that arrived today.  Baby Benny sniffed out the goods.  He even chewed a little hole in the box!

Look what Benny did to the box

Once the box was open, they discovered a goodie bag each.  The bags for the boys had vampires and the one for Luna was a little witch.  Cupid’s had a little kitty cat on hers, which we found quite appropriate.

The goodie bags

Though we enjoyed the bags, the dogs (and Cupid) more so appreciated the items inside the bags.  There was a little pumpkin for each of the little pumpkins and within the pumpkins were yummy treats of dog and cat variety.

Thanks G’ma & G’pa!  It is so much fun for the puggies when they get mail.  Oh, to lead the life of a pug and just to get fun mail and no bills!  Who says Halloween is just for children?  The pugs are all ready for Halloween.  Be sure to keep an eye out for the unveiling of their crazy costumes.  And don’t forget to submit your pug in costume photos to our Halloween Costume Contest.  Perhaps your pup will get cool prizes by mail, too.  Then your pug could also enjoy receiving a special delivery!

Happy 4th of July

Happy Independence Day

Happy Independence Day!  Hope everyone has off work and can enjoy the day.  We got things kicked off last night by going to the beach.  Today we plan on going to a cookout and just spending some time hanging around the house with the boys and Luna.

Enjoying the long Weekend

Luna waiting to get out of the pool

Memorial Day Weekend was a lot of fun this year.  I really enjoyed having the extra day off and we got a chance to do a lot of things this weekend.  We did some work around the house, took a little day trip, relaxed, and swam in the pool.  Luna tested the waters again and she did really well.  While she was swimming we tried to teach her that if she wants to get out she needs to swim to the steps.  She caught on pretty quick.  She would swim over and stand with her hind paws on the top step and her front two paws on the edge of the pool.  She would not jump out herself.  Instead she would just wait for someone to give her a little extra boost with their hand before she would hop out of the pool.

Merry Christmas

After a little debate, Santa decided that Benjamin & Henry have been good boys this year and left some presents under the tree for them and their sister, Cupid the cat.  They are anxiously waiting for Christmas morning so they can open all their presents.

We hope that everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday season!

Holiday Decorating

On Sunday, we decided to put up the tree for Christmas.  Trimming the tree is an all day process and needless to say Benjamin & Henry didn’t have much fun.  But the boys took it all in stride knowing that they need to have a tree in order for Santa to leave them presents.

A few things for which we are thankful

Benjamin is thankful for his “Puffy”.  He has had this furry, little disc since he was a puppy and he likes to have it near him at all times.  He takes it to bed with him every night and some days I have to convince him to leave the “Puffy” at home when we go on walks.

Henry is thankful for his new swimming pool and yard.  There is nothing he likes to do more than to play fetch in the pool and to sun himself in the yard.

Benjamin and Henry are both thankful to have a brother to share all of their adventures.  They have been “brothers” since Benjamin was 13 weeks old and Henry was 12 weeks old.  They have had countless wrestling matches, been on thousands of walks together and have tag teamed too many dogs to count at the dog park.  They go together like peas and carrots!

Cupid, Benjamin & Henry’s sister, is thankful for her new freedom to go outside in the screened-in area and in the yard while carefully supervised.  She loves to chase all the bugs and to munch on some grass while in the yard.  She has a hard time showing it, but she is thankful to have two brothers too.

Finally, I am thankful for my family, friends and my fantastic furkids.  They bring so much joy to my life and can always put a smile on my face.  In addition, I am also thankful for all of the wonderful memories I have of the late Lou C.

Last but not least, I am also very thankful for all the OwnedByPugs.com visitors.  It is fun and exciting to share your pug stories with others that are passionate about pugs.  Thanks for reading!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Halloween

The first year we had the boys we dressed them up as the devil (Benjamin) and a bat (Henry).  The next year they were a firefighter (Benjamin) and a king (Henry).  Their 3rd Halloween, Benjamin was a clown and Henry was a bumble bee.  Well, I thought this year I would like to do something that really ties them together and represents their personalities a little more.  I thought about and even dreamt about it.  I had to wake up in the middle of the night and write down some thoughts because I thought I would forget.  I wrote down tons of “couples.”  I thought about ketchup & mustard, peas & carrots, the Jolly Green Giant & Little Sprout.  Some of the other combinations were even more ridiculous.  Then it came to me, duh:  Batman & Robin.  That really fits their personalities and the dynamic duo idea.  Benjamin is actually the older one but we refer to him as “Baby Benny” often and Henry, well, he seems older and wiser and of course his mask is darker, so it really seemed to be the perfect costume.  Now, the question was where can I find the costumes?  I saw Batman costumes for big dogs but Robin, hmmm.  So, of course, I went online where it seems anything you need you can find.  So, I found 2 different websites with a couple different styles of Batman & Robin costumes.  We decided on a set and waited a few days for the delivery.  Finally, they arrived.  The boys tried on their respective costumes.  And of course, Benjamin’s “boy wonder” costume was too long in the legs.  He is a short, stocky little thing.  So, Robin’s tights had to be shortened.  That was sort of an easier fix than I had first imagined.  It only took a quick snip with some pinking sheers.  So, here is the unveiling of this year’s costumes.  I hope you chuckle as much as I do!

Happy Halloween
