Ping Pong Pugs

Benjamin opening presents

Henry opening presents

On Christmas, we would put down a few presents on the floor and allow the dogs to tear into them.  Well, we thought the first they would go for would be the peanut butter rawhide candy cane or the bully sticks but the first thing the boys went for was the package of ping pong balls that we got in an attempt to teach the boys and Luna to fetch.  In the past, the only interest any of them has displayed in fetching has been with ping pong balls but they always seem to crunch it up too much to get much play out of them.  So we decided to give them a 12 pack for Christmas.  Low & behold, that is what Benjamin went for first and then Henry was soon to follow.  Here the boys are taking turns opening the package.

Later in the day when they became more interested in too many other things, like Benjamin opening Cupid’s treats, we decided to give them a butcher bone that Santa had left in their stocking.

Christmas was a great day for people & pugs alike.

Luna’s First Visit from Santa

Luna's First Christmas

Well, Santa made a stop by our home this week.  He came and spoiled all the critters here.  The Boys and Cupid have a couple of Christmas day experiences under their belt, but this is Luna’s first Christmas in her forever home.  She was quite overwhelmed to say the least.  At first she just pranced around waiting for “something” to happen.  She would go from lap to lap and room to room in her girly curiosity to try to find out what all the excitement was about.

As we all took turns opening gifts, many of which were for the dogs, we finally stumbled upon Luna’s favorite toy of Christmas day.  It was brought from Maryland by G’Ma and G’Pa (Luna’s Northern grandparents).  It was a Christmas tree ornament dog toy with little nubbies that are just the right size for Luna’s petite mouth.  She nibbled on it and tossed it in the air.  As it made noises she would back off and then she would pounce on it again chewing the little nubs.

Oddly, after she tired from all the commotion, she settled on a small plastic trash bag that we were using for used wrapping paper and she promptly napped for a while after that.  She’s an unusual one that little Luna.

Stay posted for more Christmas blogging about the rest of the clan.  We hope you and your family had a safe and happy holiday.

Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas from Benjamin, Henry & Luna

G-Ma and G-Pa are coming to town, so that means that the pugs are going to go from spoiled to super spoiled this week.

I hope everyone has a safe and festive holiday season!  Everyone here at the Pug Blog, including Benjamin, Henry and Luna, wish you good cheer this holiday season.

To help celebrate,  here are a few of our old holiday photos from before we even had Luna.  Its hard to believe there was a time that little Luna wasn’t part of the pack.  In any case, these photos of Benny and Henry always make me smile.  Benjamin is in his Santa outfit and Henry is dressed as a reindeer and he is not one bit amused by his outfit.

Sun Chasers

Benjamin, Henry and Luna in the sun

To say that Benjamin, Henry and Luna are creatures of habit would be an understatement.  They have their daily routines and each of them has their little idiosyncrasies.  One of their favorite things to do is to sun themselves in the afternoon.  Since the weather has been nice, I have been able to leave the door in my office open that leads to the pool area.  The pugs love to lay just outside my office door and catch some rays.  But with the sun setting earlier now, the house quickly casts a shadow over them.  Without fail, they all inch their way back into the sun, moving farther away from the house.  They lounge around for a few more minutes and sure enough they are in the shade again.  So they just inch their way back to the sun.

It is quite amusing to watch.  I’m not sure why they just don’t go lay at the other end of the pool deck.  Then they won’t have to move so often.  But for some reason, they like to lay as close to my office door as possible. And without fail, they follow the sun every afternoon.  A day never goes by without these little ones making me laugh.

No Respect

Benjamin

On Sunday, we took a break from the mall and all our holiday shopping and went to the beach with the pugs.  Someone had built this cute little “sandman” and inevitably Benny had to pee on it.

Henry

Henry could not, of course, be out done by his brother so he got in on the action.

Luna

And Luna, who happens to be headless in this shot due to her mother’s photography skills, had to prove that anything her brothers could do she could do better!

Watering Hole

Henry drinking from the pool

For some reason, Henry has a complete aversion for the water bowl.  Only if he is really desperate will Henry even consider taking a sip of the nice, fresh water in his water bowl.  Instead, he prefers to quench his thirst by drinking from the pool.  In the picture, you can see him leaning into the pool to get some water after playing in the yard.  Henry would like you to believe that this is the only source of water around, but in reality there is a nice big bowl of water right behind him.

Personally, I don’t think that drinking pool water is a good idea.  We do our best to stop him, but he inevitably always sneaks in a couple of sips.

After the pool, Henry’s other favorite watering holes are the gulpy, puddles and sprinklers.

Luna vs The Monkey

Luna has a stuffed monkey that is as big as she is that she loves to shake and drag around the house.  Instead of a squeaker the monkey has what we refer to as a “screecher” inside it.  Occasionally, while tossing the monkey about, Luna will make the monkey screech.  Luna hates it when she makes the monkey screech!  She immediately stops playing with it and usually runs away.  It’s funny, but sorta sad.  It is like she feels like she hurt the monkey by playing too rough.

We actually have a little video of Luna playing with the monkey and then running away.  Check it out.  This is the first video on the Pug Blog so bear with us.  We are definitely amateur videographers.
