Deep Thoughts by Benjamin the Pug
After about 15 minutes at the dog park, you can usually find Benny deep in thought. What is he pondering? I imagine he is thinking, "Hmmm…what haven't I peed on yet?"
Have a great weekend!

Last week I made a comment that the hole in Luna's ear was becoming more noticeable as the fur on her ear was graying. I saw that Mary C then questioned (in the "What Say You?" area) if I worried that Luna would get a toenail caught in that little hole. Well, that made me realize that I should write a blog about that very issue.
This has, in fact, happened one time. It was very scary for sure. Luna was scratching her ear with her front paw (oddly enough as they almost always scratch with their rear paws) when suddenly we noticed that she was tangled within herself and one of her nails was indeed caught in that little hole. We had to act quickly and bend her paw to her head more closely so as to unloop her ear from her foot. Truthfully we did start to panic a bit because we had been long concerned that this very thing would at some point happen and that she would catch her nail and slice her ear clean through.
(Excuse my gagging as I write this because the mere thought of this is extremely disturbing to me and I literally gag a little bit each time I consider the consequences of her getting her nail caught in there.....)
Anyway, this happened this one time and not since then. We regularly ponder the best method of how to seal up that little hole. We thought about everything from snapping a snap through it to covering it with a band aid or a piece of tape. Anything we considered seemed like it would just draw more irritation to her thus encouraging her to scratch it, loosening whatever device we implanted there and ultimately causing her to then more seriously get a nail snagged in the hole. No solution seemed to be an adequate remedy. So, we have opted to just leave it alone and hope for the best.
While we crafted a raised food bowl to accommodate for her slipped disks in her neck and back we have not been able to devise a perfect workaround for her ear hole concern. Any ideas from the peanut gallery?

I'm not sure who enjoys sleeping in on Saturday mornings more, me or Luna. On second thought, I don't think there is anyone that enjoys sleeping in more than me.
Unfortunately, though, there was no time for catching extra shut eye this weekend. We were busy, busy, busy the entire weekend

After a long work week, the weekend got off to a fantastic start Friday evening by spending quality time in the yard with the pugs and Cupid. We soaked up what was left of the sun and enjoyed the perfect weather. I can't think of a better way to unwind.
And, of course, Benjamin brought puffy out in the yard too!

We've recently experienced some challenges in our doggie care scheduling. For some reason Thursdays are an extremely popular day in this neck of the woods. It is a hard day for Auntie M to cover, Grammy attends a special writers group on Thursdays and we had even recently recruited a Plan C person named Katie to cover when neither Grammy nor M could make the rounds. Katie, a laid back lady, has been one of the ones that has taken good care of the puggers when we had to work. We knew Plan C would not work long term as Katie, a sweet woman, was helping us out as she was between jobs. She did land a job (so, very good for her! hard to do in this economy so I tip my hat to her!) but that leave us back to square one with our Thursday woes. Anyway, we wanted to share some pictures from Katie & Auntie M.
Short but funny story about the one of Cupid that is blurred and obstructed by a pug ear. That is Benjamin getting jealous that Auntie M is taking a picture of Cupid and not paying attention to him. He is BABY BENNY you know! Thus, all eyes and attention must be on him!

In a recent blog, I described how I wheel the dogs out of the bedroom and into the living room so that I can effectively make the bed. Well, on the weekends, this same ottoman gets rolled into the kitchen for at least one of the 3 to sit in while we eat breakfast and read the newspaper. I thought some follow up evidence of this may be in order. So here are Benjamin & Luna puggin' it up on their "chair" at the breakfast table.
(Plus I find it unusual that I am discovering more & more photos where the hole in Luna's ear is getting more noticeable. I wonder if her ears are going bald. Seems like her fur used to cover the hollow spot but not as much anymore. Odd.)
