2009 Pug Calendar Contest

2009 Pug Calendar Contest

It’s that time again!  Time for the 2009 OBP Calendar Contest!  It is hard to believe that this is our fourth year of doing the contest.  It is quite a task, but I just love looking at all the photos throughout the year.

So, gather up all your adorable pug photos and get them submitted.  And, as always, a portion of the proceeds from the calendar sales will benefit pug rescue.

I don’t own a pug so I don’t have any pictures to submit, but I have to think that you should use these three pictures on the cover or in the calendar itself.

Yeah, it is Monday again.  Sorry all you people who have jobs to go to (I’m retired), but Monday is my favorite day of the week, because OBP is up and running again.  Beautiful sleeping pictures of Benny, Henry and Luna.

to my OBP friends, This Saturday, my sweet Birdy lost her fight with her body and is now in doggy heaven.  She can see and hear perfectly, and run like the wind.
Birdy has had a series of strokes and Saturday morning she had another, but did not come out of it.  So, she is on my bed and I’m laying with her, loving her, cooing in her ear and letting her know that it is ok to go, that she was a great dog and a wonderful part of my family and that I love her and I want her to be free.  She tensed up and exhaled and then she was gone.
I wrapped her in her favorite fluffy lavender towel and took her to the vet; in the car I was loving on her ear, telling her that the ear is the best part of the pug…I always loved to nibble and kiss her ears. Once I arrived at the vet, Dr. Bob handled it from there.  I kissed her one last time and watched Dr. Bob carry her into the back.
Sleighbelle is confused, she doesn’t know where Birdy is, but I’m giving Sleighbelle lots of extra love (and treats) and I know that she and I will both get over our loss, someday.
OBP, I’m not sure if you want to print this.  If you don’t, it is ok with me. Thank you.

To Christina,
I know the feeling of losing a four legged best buddy and it never gets easier, but in time it gets better. I’m sure Birdy had the best life and all the love she could hold. Helping Sleighbelle with the loss well help you too.
Take care.

Oh Christina…I am just in tears reading this…This is my biggest fear in life.  I am so incredibly sorry to hear of your loss of Birdie.  My heart aches for you and Sleighbelle.  You are right though…she is now free of pain and limitations and is frolicking in puppie heaven with lots of friends.  It’s no comfort though, I know…Please know that you, Sleighbelle and Birdie are in our thoughts and prayers.  If you need a friendly ear, please feel free to get my e-mail address from OBP.

Our Heartfelt Love and Condolences,
Heather, Baxter and Riley

Christina, I am so sorry.  I know you are heartbroken.  The ache will never go completely away, but it will lessen and you will remember the good times with Birdy.  Giving Sleighbelle the extra love right now will help you in some small way.  Your attitude about Birdy being happy and healthy is a strong belief I hold.  She will look down on you and Sleighbelle and help you.

Oh, Christina! I’m so sorry to hear your news.  I’m sure you and Sleighbelle will be in everybody’s thoughts here, especially when we interact with our own pugs today.  As a matter of fact, I think I’ll go find our two and give some little puggie hugs.

Oh, I almost forgot.  I’m so excited about the contest.  Those pics of the trio with the 08 calendars are adorable.  I don’t envy you, OBP, with the challenge of picking the winners from what will surely be a passle of pugs. lol And our guys are already there.

Christina, my eyes are welled up with tears and I can truly feel your pain.  I’ve known the pain of losing other beloved pets and it is truly the loss of a member of your family.  I’m so glad you were there to comfort her and let her go in such a loving fashion.  Every being, human or other, should be able to die with such love and dignity.  Sleighbelle and you will be such a comfort to each other at this time.  One day, we’ll all meet at the Rainbow Bridge and what a joyous day that will be!  C.J., Toeby and I will be thinking of you!  We are so sorry for your loss…

Christina,

I am so sorry. I know how painful this is. You were very strong in how you comforted Birdy and were there for her, loved her and eased her into knowing it was alright to leave you. I know you will provide Sleighbelle with much love, because undoubtingly she feels sorrow and is confused.

I will pray for Birdy and all of you.

Have to go give Nico a hug.

Christina,
I am in tears at this moment. I cannot imagine what you may be feeling, but, from the way you have written, you sounded very brave, and so did Birdy.
Your angel is definitely feeling much better now. Birdy now watches over you and Sleighbelle and waits for you at Rainbow Bridge.
Lucy and I send our love and hugs.

Corrine,
Thank you for posting Christina’s message, for once again doing the pug calendar and most of all for being exactly who you are.

Thank you to everyone who has responded to my loss.  I knew that everyone in the OBP family would know how heart broken I am and will be in the days to come.  I have been encouraged and uplifted by your sweet messages and your understanding of losing my little Birdy.  I appreciate your prayers and thoughts.  Christina and Sleighbelle

Christina I am so sorry to hear about your loss. We recently lost a pug in May who was a huge part of our family. She was also deaf. She had gone into our neighbors garage during a rainstorm and laid down under the back tire of the car. Our neighbor backed over her and broke her pelvis. We had to put her to sleep. We were so heart broken. She was our daily joy. I can understand what you are going through, because I know how hard it is to lose a pug. May peace be with you during this time.

Christina,
What can I say that hasn’t already been said.  My heartfelt condolences go out to you, Sleighbelle and all those who knew and loved Birdy. It’s so hard to lose a beloved pet and you eased her crossing over in such a beautiful way that I’m sure her very last breath was filled with all of the love and kindness you showed her over the years. I know you’ll always cherish her memory and the unconditional love she gave throughout her precious life, right up until the very end. No matter where she goes in Puppy Heaven, she’ll sing your praises for being the very best Mom a girl could ever ask for.
May God grant you strength through this difficult time and may you find peace.

Love from, Patty, Rocky, Adrian and Gulliver, our adorable new (as of yesterday) little seven month old Puggie Boy we brought from a rescue org. to his new forever home.

Christina: I was out sick yesterday and didn’t get to read this until today. I am so sorry for your loss. I am in tears. I know this day will come for me and I can’t bear it. The dignity and the love you shared with Birdy just melts my heart. I send a the biggest warmest hug to you and Sleighbelle. Birdy is at rainbow bridge running and playing and snorting up a storm!
I too kiss and nibble on their ears! It IS one of the best parts of the pug.
