A Positive

Benjamin

One good thing to come out of Monday's sedation/surgery is that Benjamin got a very good toenail clipping. There was no fight, no fuss, no Cheerio negotiations, no "We'll do the back ones another day". Just a nice, short toenail trimming. However, I'm sure he is expecting some Cheerio back pay.

If he hasn’t already, I bet Baby Benny gets extra Cheerios.  In the meantime get plenty of rest sweetie and before you know it you will be feeling your perky self again. Positive thoughts.

Are all Pugs the same about getting their nails done?  That sounds exactly like what I go through with Abby every month.  Those darn nails grow so quickly.

Cheerios to you Baby Benny and a pug hug all around.  Thoughts of you all are constantly in Abby’s and my minds.  Positive, positive thoughts!

Pug Hug,
Abby & Huckle

Best wishes to Benny. My pug was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor—also in his chest—last year and it was a harrowing time. The good news is that he recovered completely and is doing fine. I hope things work out the same for Benny.

Huckle, you asked so I must now provide my shameless brag…

We all know how *most* pugs are about getting their nails trimmed!  However…my Baxter has always been beyond calm when we get them done…let’s the person pick up his feet, one by one, clip clip clip, no squirming, biting, fussing, etc.

So…just the other day John and I were wondering if it would be possible for me to clip Baxter’s nails alone, no John holding him, given his stellar track record.  Drum roll please…

I clipped every sweet toe on those four paws SOLO with Bax just standing there…talk about a miracle in a pug household!!

Now…I will add that Riley was a “typical” pug when it came to nails and I have a feeling that Mr. Cole has taken the reins from Ri…but my pugs, am I proud of my big boy!!!

Corrine, that’s a thought worthy of Pollyanna!  Good for you : )

And Baby Bennie should get a whole box of his favorite flavor!!!  I’m keeping the prayers coming!

Aw, Benny!  You deserve Cheerios and pugkin bread for being a good pug!  Good thoughts and positive vibes are coming your way for quick healing and a great outcome!  You look very comfy in your t-shirt.  Jeans and a t-shirt have always been my favorite outfit!

I felt the need to visit Central Florida Pug Rescue.  I watched the two videos of sweet Solsey and the “Catching Cheerios” video of all four pugs, and Solsey’s first adventure of actually catching Cheerios.  It made we sad but also made me smile.

Poor thing! Nail clipping even while under sedation isn’t fun! He needs lots of cheerios and maybe some pugkin bread smile

My fingers are crossed for you guys that the path report is good.

Poor Benny… sedation, surgery and a toe nail clipping all in one day?  the last is just adding insult to injury.  our pug hates getting his toes clipped.  the vet techs cringe when I bring Mason in because even our vet has started passing the job off to them.  he just laughs and says “sometimes it’s good to be the boss”.
thinking good thoughts for you on your pathology results Benny!  we’ll be waiting for an update.

I still have Miss Sol’s “Sunshine Memorial” photo on my desktop and I say good morning to her every day and pet her sweet head!  I know it sounds a little nuts but she really got to me, guys!

Karen B

05/26/2010

And yes, Heather, that is a shameless brag!  But it’s just cuz I envy you!  I pay the vet $16.50 per pug to trim nails!  EeeeeK!

Does anybody else get the climbing all over you to get away from the clippers act? our pug will try to climb the nearest human to get away from the groomer. SHe hates nail clippings and will work herself up into a state that she’s hyperventliating after a session. Plus her nails grow so fast, we have to take her to the groomers every month. We have tried clipping them ourselves, but she is such a wiggle worm that getting one nail is a miracle for us. the Groomer has much better luck getting all of them clipped than we would at home.

Forgot to say… Baby Benny, keep your puggy chin up. We’re thinking of you and your family. And beg for the cherrios!!!!
