I sure could use another 3 days off

Benjamin, Henry & Luna

This weekend was one of those times when I need a few more days off to rest up from all the work from the weekend.  We were up on the early side every day of this long, holiday weekend and it seems like we didn’t sit down until it was time to go to bed.

Our main project this weekend was sprucing up the yard.  Our first goal was to do something with the small area between the pool and the air conditioner outside and the picture above is what we came up with.  Before, it was just an area where the grass struggled to grow.  So we laid down the stepping stones and added some plants that help to block the view of the air condition from the lanai.  All in all it turned out very well even it if did take all afternoon on Friday.

On Saturday, we put the finishing touches on some pots we were painting for the yard.  We ran errands in between coats while we were waiting for the paint to dry.

On Sunday, we planted flowers into the pots that we painted.  We have them set throughout the garden and after we planted the flowers we had to have the pugs pose with them, of course.

We also got a pot to put by the front door to keep Buddha company.

Much to the neighbors amusement we have a little concrete fire hydrant in the front yard for the pugs and all the small dogs in the neighborhood to use.  We gave it a good power washing and painted it to match the pots.

How was your weekend?

Everything looks beautiful!  All of your hard work certainly paid off!  Love the little hydrant…haha.  Always so adorable to see all 3 together posing for the camera!

The boys and I were much, much lazier than you so we won’t admit to lounging most of the weekend away…but we, too, could use 3 more days…you know, to recoup from all our…um, activities.

Wow!  Your industrious weekend paid off.  Everything looks great!  Your pugs are such good posers to showcase your hard work, too.

We got to see terrific fireworks and hung out up with Bennie.  He didn’t go to the fireworks tho.  Between the heat and the noise, it’s not his thing.

Wow, those pots are gorgeous!  You two have a great eye.  I also love the little fire hydrant!

I worked in the yard some, but my efforts didn’t yield such beauty…but I’m tossing out a huge bag of weeds grin

Our guys had 2 nice outings at the park.  Yesterday, we had a pug meetup at Ft. Tryon park in Manhattan.  That run is the largest in the city and the park is georgeous.  I want to go back sans the pugs to see the Cloisters which I hear are beautiful inside.  I know the outside was really great.  Biscuit found “love” with two females that were much bigger than him.  Not sure what they were, but they weren’t interested in a wee pug.  He ran around so much that he overdid it and threw up. :-(  The temp was so low it was misleading: we should have stopped him sooner.

We didn’t go to see the Macy’s fireworks, but had some neighborhood fireworks that were great.  One group said they spent about $2000. :-o We didn’t take the boys though.  They wouldn’t have been happy.

Have a great week everybody!

Your yardwork looks fantastic and enhanced by three lovely pugs.  There were 6 adults and 5 kids at my house for fireworks.  Romeo was not outside with us but he stayed cool and calm inside.  Poor Romeo had an early morning vet visit this morning.  Summer allergies caused him to go wild last night with his scratching and crying.  He feels much better already after an injection.

I am out of my mind with that fire hydrant!
I love what you did with your yard! The pugs posing just kills me!!!
My guys helped me paint my end tables and chairs this weekend (translation - they sat out in the yard while I painted!) I spent some good puggy time with them lounging and taking walks and since Daddy was out of town they had me all to themselves!

Rocky and Adrian went to their cousins’ house,Dachshunds Scooter and Harley, for a big 4th of July party.  We went along to chaperone, along with about 30 other humans.  It was a really hot day here in So. Cal. but we brought along their big blue puppy pool and they kept jumping in and out of it all day long and everyone shared in the task of wetting them down.  This was their first really big party and boy did they have fun! They especially loved the fruit, hot dogs, chicken, and macaroni salad that accidentally fell on the ground.  When the fireworks started there were so many kids petting them and playing with them that they didn’t even notice the loud noises - just an occasional head tilt. For the ten hours we were there, they didn’t lay down to rest, not even once. Needless to say, we had two very sleepy pugs on the drive home and pretty much the rest of the weekend.

Sure does sound like a busy weekend. Mushu stayed at a dog boarding place for the first time this weekend and it sounds like he enjoyed it. Good thing we did put him in one, because although we didn’t set off any fireworks, they were some LOUD bangs nearby from other people.

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the mini fire hydrant!

Wow, what a weekend!  The mini fire hydrant is a big hit with all the readers too!!
Our holiday was earlier in the week, but we got together friday night for a camp fire with family and their dogs: a retriever, a shitzu and our pug.  They all played nice and had a good time!!!
No fire works though… we once lost a retriever for 2 days because he broke loose from his leash after being taken to a fireworks outing. So all our family dogs stay home now!!
Glad to hear everyone enjoyed their holidays!!!
