Pathology Results

Benjamin

We just received the pathology results for Benny's mast cell tumor. It came back as a Grade II tumor with clean margins. I am so very relieved that we got clean margins. I was hoping that it would come back a Grade I, but I knew that was highly unlikely. I am very happy it is a Grade II and not a Grade III.

In any case, our next course of action is to keep a very close eye on Benny to see if any other tumors develop. Which just means more petting or him.

And for those who like to see the gory details, here is a picture of Benny's incision. It was taken in low light with my phone, so it isn't the greatest picture, but it gives you a good idea of the size of the incision.

It is such a relief to know that the vet got clean margins. Hopefully, there won't be any more tumors popping up on Benny anytime soon.

Enjoy the holiday weeekend!

YAY YAY YAY Baby Benny…A BIG kiss on that pouty lil’ mouth to you.  WONDERFUL news about the clear margins!!!  That is one big incision you poor thing…but I still say that T-Shirt is incredibly handsome on you so don’t worry, you’ll heal up in no time.  Baxter has a little scar on his leg from one of his mast cell removals and I always pet it and thank God that he’s healthy!

A cheer for both Benny and Luna today (you to Hank!!)!!!  (and stay far, far away mast cells…NO MORE for Benny or any of our other babies!!!!)

I’m relieved there are clean margins.  And also relieved it isn’t Grade III.  Of course, I’m still wishing that sweet little Baby Benny didn’t have this at all.  I hope the incision heals quickly, and please give Benny lots of pets and hugs from Bennie and me!  And of course, Henry and Luna too!  I’m glad you know the results before the weekend, so you can concentrate on the facts instead of the “what ifs”.  I hope you all have a pleasant and relaxing weekend : )

Hooray for Benny! I’ve been praying for you sweet boy!

I have a silly question for anyone who wants to answer. What does ‘grade II and clean margins’ mean? I feel so silly asking b/c obviously it’s good news but does that mean it is or isn’t cancer?

Still sending good thoughts and prayers your way Corrine. Hug all the babies for Pip and me. smile

That is good news. Clean margins mean a lot. When Pablo had his tumor removed we got the same report and one year later he’s doing fine.

After a long and tedious trip back home from S. Carolina, after greeting and loving on my furbabies, I was so relieved to open up OBP and see the good news about Baby Benny.  I know you will be vigilant in checking him out, but your Memorial Day just got happy. Hopefully everything at OBP will settle down in to a comfortable and worry free routine.

Heather, great news about Baxter’s ear canals. You too needed good news and hope your situation settles into a comfortable routine as well.

Oh that is such good news!  You’ve been through so much lately with sweet little Sol, I just can’t imagine any more pain in your life.  God is certainly smiling down on some loving, wonderful puggy parents. Benny looks so sad, but I know you are spoiling him so much, and he’ll heal quickly.  We love you all…Vicki, Amos & Andi

Abby and I are so relieved to hear things are all right although not the best, but it isn’t the worst either.  For some reason I didn’t get Friday’s post and thought that nothing had been heard and that it would be an exceptionally long weekend for you all and Benny.  What delight I had to hear that you did not have to keep worrying without knowing.

Went to a graduation of grandson on Sunday but could not get the picture of Benny out of my mind (and it was a long graduation ceremony), my eyes kept getting wet and then I thought, “This is silly and it isn’t helping” and I forced myself to picture Benny as well and healthy as could be and full of his silliness.  It’s not always easy to put a positive thought in place of a negative one but it can be done.

Congratulations to you and your husband, Luna, Henry and, of course, ta-da - Benny.  Give his little “stinkle” a “winkle-wub” from Abby and me.
