Post Bath

Luna and Henry

Last night, 3 stinky pugs got brushed and bathed.

The pugs always shed, but they seem to go through spurts when they shed 10 times worse than usual. Right now is one of those times. When we brushed them in the backyard last night, the fur was flying! There were little tufts of fur flying everywhere! If we collected it all, I'm sure we would have had enough to make a fourth pug from it.

After the pugs were brushed, to the bath they went. They definitely left a ring around the tub because they were quite dirty puggers.

Nice clean babies! Those little tufts of hair will be gone soon - the birds love to use dog hair for nest building! smile

Good lookin’ group!  It’s gotta feel soooo good to get that hair up and off.  Between myself and Bella-pug, we could supply an aviary with nesting mat’ls.  Great recycling, I say.
GINA:  About those spiders (yesterday’s post) . . . I’d be throwing more than Milkbones at ‘em, for sure!  Stay cool - everyone!  My cornfield for a beach!

OOOOO, I love how you can see the “bath look” still on them (for us pug lovers, we know what a post-bath, damp, fluffy pugga looks like!).

Speaking of shedding, you should see my house.  I do not know how Baxter isn’t bald.  And the weirdest thing is, I comb him and next to nothing comes off, I touch him, pet him, rub him, nuzzle him, he walks, breaths, exists and oh my the fur!!!!  I’m vaccuming daily these days!

Stay cool everyone and BIG SMOOCHES to the handsome brothers and beautiful lil’ lady!

Tis the season. Even those puggers who don’t like baths have to feel better to get rid of so much hair, and the OBP gang looks great.

Last night while playing with Romeo, a ton of hair cf hair went flying. Time to go outside and brush.  Of course the birds love the hair, but Romeo thinks it’s something to play with and I have to gather it up and put it in a safe place or the next thing I know he is eating it…ugh, what a pug.

I love the fluffy pug look! And isn’t it amazing how soft they are right after a bath?!!

Mary C. ~ Those spiders are so big it’s horrible. I’m afraid to try to step on them b/c I’m afraid their legs will wrap up and around my shoe and they will trip me or something! wink One time, I used an indoor spider spray on one and it would not die. I’m not kidding. The spider was completely saturated with the spray and it still kept running back and forth on the step. Ugh! I always say, this is way winter is better than summer!

Stay cool everyone! Pug hugs to all from Gina & Pip!

Sue VDB, LOL.  Romeo just doesn’t want to give up “pieces of himself”!

Oh yeah, Corrine when you wrote about making another pug out of the fur:  Yeah, I should be ashamed to admit that I found, what I think to be two new pug brothers, behind my bed last night when I changed the sheets.  The size of these two fur balls were the size of “our” Looney, I swear!

GINA:  I have one word re: those spiders:  G-AAAHH!
I’m going to try very hard not have nightmares about them.  My friend had some type of orb-weaver spiders that populated her backyard and would, at times, find their way into the family room.  Scary-looking - they definitely look worse indoors than out.

The three little pugs certainly look pleased with themselves. Their bath must have really been relaxing.
Very cute pictures. And yes I have to sweep and swiffer everyday, too. I don’t have much carpet to worry about anymore.

I love the softness of there fur and the smell after there baths this year with Zeke I tried something different he sheds far worse then the others he had big clumps of fur so I had the groomer shave him I think his picture is in the pug picture gallery he dosent look bad and he seems to be much happier minus the clumps

I love the way Bennie smells, feels, and acts after a bath!

True story:  I once knew a woman who collected her dog’s fur after brushing, spun it into yarn, and knit with it.  So we could all get together and make ourselves pug sweaters or scarves!

Any takers?

Hehehe! I love how FLUFFY clean puggies get!

All three of them seem to have the same look on their face…“Mom, why’d ya have to go and do THAT?”

Martha, what happens if the sweater gets wet?  A wet-dog smell, yuck.  Actually years ago I was in a spinning group where one woman did that.  I think I like dog hair on the dog better!

Oh Mary ~ I’m sorry. I didn’t want you to have nightmares :( I saw a spider in my back yard the other day and it was black and had green fangs. I’m not kidding. I googled it and it is like a jumping spider or something like that. Needless to say, I squished it. I don’t need that guy in my house. smile

(I just realized that I said I didn’t want you to have nightmares and then launch into telling you about a spider with green fangs! Nice Gina…real nice.)  smile

GINA:  Not to worry on my account, I’m fine as long as I don’t go “Googling” the ugly things - but everyone else is probably wondering about all the spider chatter on a perfectly charming pug site.  Sorry all.

Gina:  YIKES and ICK!

Martha:  I’d love to have a puggie fur sweater (but yes Huckle, it would have to be worn on fair weather days only!  lol)!  I was actually thinking of collecting it and donating it to the next oil spill.  Similar to my hairdresser who collected all of our hair from cuts and donated it to the company that makes them into “sponges” to put in the water that take out the oil.  They wrap the hair in something and use it to remove the oil.  Not at all an eloquent description, but you catch my drift wink

Martha, I have very sensitive skin and I don’t think I would be able to wear such a sweater, but thanks for the suggestion.

There is nothing like the smell of a freshly bathed pug.  Then again, there is nothing like the smell of Fritos Feet either:-)

Thank heaven for the furminator!! It really does a number on the fur so there’s less fur on the carpet, in the chairs, and the kids like the feel!

Gina - how big was this sucker?  Green fangs…eeeeeck.

Pug Mama, Fritos Feet?  Now THERE’S a description that needs no elaboration.

I have a kitchen floor full of black puggy fur. (They must not have been shedding by the time we got them last year.)  How do you get rid of it.  Vacuuming it doesn’t work, washing it just spreads it around and I never had this problem with just Abby.  Hey, maybe she’s pulling their hair out and throwing it all around in the mistaken belief that I will send them packing?

Huckle, Flylady’s Rubba Sweepa does an excellent job capturing all that hair.

Nothing better than a freshly bathed, soft and fluffy, good-smelly pugger!  I used some stuff (I think it’s made by BED Head) called “Defunk the Mutt”.  Kind of citrusy, very nice!

Thanks Sue VDB.  I’ve checked it out and think I will order one.  Looks kind of like those rubber basters of meat, albeit a bit bigger.  It makes sense and if it works, I may put Fly Lady in my will!

I had forgotten about Fly Lady and boy can I use her help all over the place so I’ve signed up.  Thanks again.

Pug Mama~ Fritos Feet! We have ALWAYS said that! I’m so glad we aren’t the only ones.

Huckle ~ The green fanged spider wasn’t that big but he was quick! Not as quick as my planting trowel thought! I got him good. smile

Sue VDB, you may be my life saver.  I live in chaos and clutter and even beginning is daunting to me.  In steps FLYlady who I had forgotten about.  I think her method is going to redeem me.  Thanks, Sue
