Treats for All

Henry

A few eagle eyed blog readers spotted Henry lurking in the background of Monday's Temptation blog post. The pugs are very much aware that if one of them gets a treat they all get a treat, so they have been known to take turns buttering us up for goodies because if one of them wins they all win.

This couldn't be more true of drive-thrus. On the rare occasions when we pick up something quick from the drive-thru and we have the pugs with us, Benjamin & Henry totally turn on the charm for the drive-thru workers to score treats.

Luna does not like to be anywhere near an open window in a car, so she patiently waits for one of her brothers to earn her a treat. To help increase the pugs' odds of getting a special treat, we let one of them up to the front of the car while we go through the drive-thru so they can get a good look at what is going on.

Since Luna has no interest, the boys have traditionally taken turns. Using their handsome good looks they have scored cookies, McNuggets, french fries and lots of other goodies.

The boys used to be happy taking turns, that is until Henry had his turn up front and did not score any treats from the drive-thru for the pugs. Henry had the bad luck of getting a non dog person on his turn and Benny has never let him forget it.

And from that day forward, Benny insists that he be the one up front, putting his cute wrinkles to good use. And those wrinkles of his have never let him down.

I know Henry wants nothing more than a chance to redeem himself, but Benny is just not having it. I think I caught him muttering under his breath something about "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself!"

Pugs , by far have so many expressions that they literally could be saying something to add to the moment.

Awww, poor Henry.  Shame on that non-dog person for passing up on such a handsome boy.  Benny, you need to be a nice brother and let Henry try again…after all it wasn’t his fault.  If you had been the one who had been passed up you’d want another try.

Heather, you are right.  The perfect picture was posted for this story.

I love the way they “work it” at the drive-thru windows!  Henry, don’t take it personally.  I don’t understand how anyone could be a non-dog person to begin with!

Once we took Bennie with us to Sonic, and before we knew it our truck was surrounded with girls on roller skates who were ALL dog-people!  Bennie loved it!

My grandpug, Zorro, spent his formitive years in Auburn, Al while his momma was in Veterinary School. Being a vet school town, a lot of the drive thrus give dog treats. Zorro is so confused now to go to a drive thru and not get a treat!! He feels Henry’s pain!!!

There should be a rule for all drive thru workers.
MUST LOVE DOGS !!!!

I can’t imagine not liking dogs. My sister-in-law is not a dog person but her husband is and they have a beagle. She always says she wants to live in a dog free environment. Needless to say, she is my least favorite sister-in-law. smile  How boring… no dogs!

Poor Henry~I used to work at a dry cleaners that had a drive thru so people didn’t have to get out of their cars. I ALWAYS had treats for the dogs! And I didn’t have anything for the stinky kids that came through. smile I definitely would’ve given you treats and kisses Henry!!! Same goes for Benny and Luna of course!

Pug Hugs to all from Gina & Pip!

Great, great story Corrine.  Once again you’ve let us “be there” through your narrative.  A smooch to those two rascals and an even bigger smooch to Luna!
