Ready to be Served

Benjamin

Confession: we eat dinner in front of the TV every night. Love it or hate it, its just how we roll and it works well for us. We don't use TV trays or anything fancy like that, we just sit on the floor and eat off the coffee table. Well, we aren't completely uncivilized, so we we sit on a pile of pillows while we eat.

Which makes dinnertime to Benny a compilation of his favorite things - food and pillows. So every night when I am bringing dinner to the table, I find Benny sitting in my "seat" just waiting for the food to be brought to him.

Luna Health Update

Luna

Since we adopted Luna she has always been a medical mystery to all the vets we have taken her to. She never seems to get a classic case of anything.

Recently, her breathing issues have been perplexing vets and specialists alike. For the most part she is stabilized, but her breathing for the last year or so has definitely been labored. The inhaler she has been on has been helping a bit, but it hasn't cured things 100%. She also gets a cough (more of a traditional trachea collapse cough) from time to time. She has been experiencing that for the last few weeks so we have been going to the vet trying to tweak her meds to give her some comfort. The odd thing though is that Luna doesn't cough when at the vet. There is nothing we can do to make her cough so that vet can hear what her cough sounds like. She just stand on the examination table, wagging her tail acting like she is completely fine.

The first time this happened I was shocked. Mainly because she was coughing like crazy at home. The second time, I came with backup. I brought videos of Luna coughing just in case she acted like she was completely fine when we were there. Next time, we might have to do a video chat with the vet so he can see how Luna is at home.

Made

Luna

Luna is not a morning pug. I despise mornings myself and sometimes I think she hates mornings even more than I do. And I never thought anyone could hate mornings more than I do. The funny part is all she has to do is get up to eat breakfast, go potty and then she gets to go back to sleep.

Lately, as a compromise and to appease her protest to mornings, we have just been making Luna into the bed. It works well since she is on the small side and we can easily slide the covers around even if she is laying on top. She seems to like this arrangement pretty well. Once she finally wakes up, she gives us a bark letting us know she is ready to go out to go potty and have her breakfast served.

The only problem with this schedule is that Benny thinks he gets another breakfast when Luna finally gets around to eating her breakfast. He seems to forget that he already ate his breakfast when we got up.

Flashback Friday

Sol

This picture was taken in April 2009

Oh, how I miss this little puggie.

One of the best things about Sol was that she was game for anything. We thought it would be funny to get a picture of her posing in the wheelchair and after we put her in the chair she just made herself comfortable. We probably could have taken her for a walk around the neighborhood in the wheelchair. Which is weird. Because while she like the wheelchair, she sure hated the stroller.

Reunited

Henry

While the rest of the country was braving the Polar Vortex 2.0, us Floridians had some gloomy, rainy days. We probably had close to a week with little or no sun and Henry was starting to get a bit depressed. He was so happy one night when the clouds broke and he was able to catch some sunbeams from the setting sun. Henry parked himself in the driveway and soaked up every ounce of sunshine until the sun finally set. Then, and only then, would he consider coming back into the house.

The Princess

Luna

As sure as I am that a work from home day will be filled with Benny snores, I am also certain that no work from home day would be complete without Luna climbing her mound of dog beds and taking a nap.

The pugs have a lot of dog beds, but we are not to the point where we need to start stacking them on top of each other. One day, I was vacuuming and I threw the dog beds in a pile in my office to make less things to vacuum around. When I returned to my office to put everything away, I found Luna sleeping soundly on top of the heap. Since she liked the mound of beds so much, we left them like that.
