As You Wish
Now that’s a request with which I can easily comply!

My tweet about wrinkle cleaning sparked some discussions about cleaning wrinkles in the comments of this week’s Caption This so I thought I would elaborate a bit with today’s post.
Out of the three, Benjamin has the worst wrinkles. His wrinkles are constantly dirty and have to be cleaned daily. If I am really on the ball, I will clean them twice a day, but most of the time they only get cleaned once a day. Henry & Luna on the other hand get their wrinkles wiped out about once a week.
I can’t really say why Benjamin’s wrinkles get so much dirtier than the others. His folds are much deeper than the others so that may have something to do with it. He also always has his head stuck somewhere. In the grass or dirt as he is smelling and he also likes to prop himself up on his head so that he can use both of his front paws to scratch on his pillows (been trying to get a video of this for a long time).
To clean his wrinkles we use malacetic wipes. The vet recommended them to us a few years ago and they seem to work OK. They definitely get the dirt out. We used to get them from our vet in Maryland, but the last few times we have ordered them online. Other than the malacetic wipes we just try and keep Benny’s wrinkles as dry as possible so his folds aren’t a breeding ground for yeast.
Luckily, Benjamin is a good boy about letting me clean his wrinkles. We keep the malacetic wipes in the kitchen, so as soon as I go to get one he follows me into the kitchen and stands next to me gazing up hoping to get a treat. He knows the sound of the wipe container and when I open the container his little tail uncurls. It’s so sad! He doesn’t run away, he just stands there and looks at me like, “Let’s get this over with”. It just breaks my heart. But, he soon forgets all about it when he gets his treat.
What about you? What do you use to clean your pug’s wrinkles? I would love to hear your tips as I am always looking for something to help keep Benny’s face clean.

I just wanted to share with everyone the latest from Romeo’s foster mom.
He is doing pretty well, all he wants to do is play with my girls but since he still has a ton of staples he can’t. He seems to be in good spirits most of the time, sometimes you can tell that he is in a bit of pain from the incision. Of course, Patrick and I are spoiling him rotten and he eats up every minute of it. Today he goes back to the vet to have an hour long blood test to check out all his levels, hopefully everything checks out well. I will update you when the results are in. Please continue to keep Romeo in your thoughts! And please continue to get the word out there for donations…every little bit helps!
They also sent along a picture. Take a look at this cute little fella’.
I can’t thank you enough for sending donations Romeo’s way. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated and the Delaware Valley Pug Rescue group has opened a PayPal acount so if you would like to give you can now donate via PayPal as well.

Monday through Friday from about 8:00 am to 5:00 pm I function as the doorwoman for the pugs and the cat. Benjamin, Henry, Luna & Cupid make sure that I stay active by constantly wanting to go in and out of my office door. I oblige them during the week since I am sitting right there, but the weekends are a different story. They have gotten used to using that door so they try to use it on the weekends too. What do you think is the best way to explain office hours to a pug?

This weekend was a great weekend for pug and parents! We got almost all of our usual weekend to do items done on Friday night so that we could have some free time on Saturday and Sunday. We went to the grocery store, cut the grass, made the dog food bowls for the week and replenished our stock of turkey by cooking and freezing 14 packages of ground turkey.
We didn’t finish cooking the turkey until about 10ish on Friday night and Baby Benny was so cute because he was falling asleep while sitting up. The turkey can not be cooked without him supervising and he was trying so hard to stay awake until we were completely finished.
Saturday morning we went for a long walk with the pugs before it got too hot. It was a beautiful day and a great walk. When we got back home we went out for a little fun and some shopping giving the pugs a chance to catch a nap. Later that night we caught up on all the TV shows we recorded and the pugs when to work on their knucklebones.
Sunday started much like Saturday in that we took the pugs for a long walk right after Luna finished reading the paper. Then we went to the gym and hopped in the pool for a bit when we got home to cool off. Much to Benjamin & Luna’s liking we didn’t stay in the pool long. The rest of Sunday was just a lazy afternoon. The pugs were happy relaxing in the sun and of course Benjamin was begging to have a chance to chew his knucklebone bone on Sunday night. He is completely obsessed with those bones!
I hope you had a great weekend!

On Sunday, we gave the pugs their first ever knucklebones. In the past I have shied away from knucklebones in favor of rib bones because the rib bones seem like they are a better size for the pugs and have a lot less gunk on them. But on Sunday, they were out of rib bones so I settled for the knucklebones. Plus, secretly, I had always wanted to see what Benjamin, Henry & Luna’s reaction would be to the size of these massive treats.
Needless to say they were more than pleased with the knucklebones. In fact, they were wondering why I had been buying them those tiny little rib bones when they had knucklebones all along.
The funniest part of watching them eat the bones was listening to the noises they made. They snorted, grunted, sighed and made all kinds of sounds trying to clean off the bones. I got a little bit of Henry on video going to town on his knucklebone. Turn the sound up and you’ll hear all the noise he was making. Notice how even the cat was interested in getting a smell.
I only let the pugs chew the bones for about an hour every few days. Henry actually gets a little less time because he is a much more effective chewer. I don’t want them to overdo it. There is a lot of gunk on those bones and much to their chagrin I think they should pace themselves.
Have a good weekend everyone!
